The articles in this section focus on the various types of torture used on Falun Gong practitioners in China, as well as their devastating effects. Some of the most common physical torture methods include beatings, shocking with electric batons, force-feeding, exposure to extreme heat and cold, confinement in small cages, handcuffing for long periods of time, and injecting dangerous drugs into practitioners.
The list goes on and on, with over 100 torture methods documented. Falun Gong practitioners are also subjected to mental torture in the form of brainwashing.
Even common and generally benign activities are turned into torture methods in China's prisons and labor camps. For example, standing in one place is something that most people do every day for short periods of time, but when forced to stand without moving for 12 or 16 hours without a break, it becomes a method of torture. Even one's waking consciousness becomes torturous when one is deprived of sleep for several days.
