Zhao Qiying, female, over 30 years old, from Panzhihuan city of Sichuan province. She made a living in Lanzhou (city) (Gansu Province). At the end of April, she went to Xinjiang Province to spread Dafa and clarify the truth. She died in late May in the custody of the Xinjiang Police. Liu Junming, male, 32 years old, was an employee in Longxi County Metallurgy Factory of Gansu Province. He went to appeal in Beijing last January and was arrested. Two policemen from Longxi County went to take him back. On their way back, to go sightseeing in Beijing, the policemen locked Liu Junmin alone in a building. When Liu Junmin tried to escape, he unfortunately fell from the building and was found dead. Longxi police department cannot shirk their responsibility for this. In order to cover up the truth, they blocked the information. Liu Junmin's family leads a very difficult life. His wife and child are now in a very bad situation. Tian Baozhen, female, 40 years old, lived in the residential area of the Hubei Textile Design Institute at Yuejiazui in Wuchang District of Wuhan City.

In November of this year, together with several other practitioners, she went to Tiananmen Square to protect Dafa and to call for redress of a wrong. But she was detained without cause by the Tiananmen Police Substation.

Tian Baozhen refused to tell her address, and was beaten up by the police. She then went on hunger strike for her freedom and was subsequently interrogated, beaten up again, and force-fed. Ten days later, Tian Baozhen told the Beijing police that she was from Henan Province. Then she was brought back by the Henan police. After arriving in Henan Province, Ms. Tian told the police she was not from Henan Province.

At the sight of her extreme physical weakness due to her hunger strike and the brutal abuse she had suffered, the Henan police released her. With her great fortitude, Tian Baozhen got on the train heading for Wuhan City in Hebei Province. After she arrived at the Wuhan railway station, she was too feeble to even move, so she made a phone call home. Her husband brought her back in a taxi and carried her on his shoulders to their home on the fifth floor. After several days' rest at home, Tian Baozhen passed away on December 11, 2000. The dark bruises on her arms due to the police's beating and kicking are still shocking to see.

On December 13, those practitioners who had heard about Ms. Tian's death attended her funeral. Practitioners sent her a verse:

"The Pure Plum Flower is the First to Bloom in the Cold Winter; The Righteous and Expansive Heart is to Encourage Fellow Practitioners"

to express their deep respects for a woman who gave up her own life to protect Dafa. They believe that the evil will be eliminated and that a bright future is drawing near.

Tian Baozhen was kindhearted and always ready to help others. She was widely recognized as a good person in the neighborhood. In addition, she did a lot of work for the sake of Dafa. Following in her footsteps, the practitioners in Wuhan City will go on protecting Dafa and promoting Dafa and suffocate the evil.

My husband Sun Ruijian was 29 years old and lived on Zhangwan Shang Street North #48, Ninde City, Fujian Province. He left home on November 7th, 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong and arrived in Beijing the next day. At midnight, he was arrested by the Beijing police while on his way to the hotel, and disappeared without a trace. On December 1st, we received notice from the Politics and Law Commission of the Ninde City, advising us to go to the city of Nanping to bring him home. We met with the local officials around 10pm that evening and were told that my husband had passed away. They claimed that two Fujian police were sent to bring him back from Beijing, and that he died after jumping out of the train at 4pm on November 29th someplace between the cities of Shunchang and Xiayang. After repeated requests from us, the police showed us a portion of their so-called evidence, which they said supported the claim that he had jumped out of the train on his own.

The next day, when we asked to see the body, the police made an outrageous request - they said that the only way for us to see the body was to sign a form agreeing to cremate him immediately. After our refusal, they relented and said that we could see the body first, but then we would have to sign the form agreeing to cremation right away. The local officials tried to talk to me and pressure me (into going along with their plans of cremating the body right away). I began to grow more and more suspicious over the actual cause of my husband's death, and I saw a number of red flags. The way that the authorities tried to get the family to agree to cremation right away without letting us know more about how he really died is very troubling. Something else suspicious is that normally an autopsy would only be performed after getting the permission from the family first, but when we saw his body, a thorough autopsy had already been performed without our knowledge. Because of these troubling signs, I cannot accept the explanation that the local police has given for the cause of Sun Ruijian's death.

A person's life is a very precious gift, and a person's death is a very serious matter. I strongly demand a full investigation to be conducted into the death of my husband, and sincerely hope that the local authorities and government officials will agree to the investigation.

At 2:30PM, the funeral for Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao Xin, a 32-year-old female teacher of Beijing University of Business and Industry, was held in the 3rd condolence room at the Babaoshan Cemetery in Beijing.

Because of her persistence in cultivating Falun Gong, Zhao Xin was brutally beaten by the police at the Haidian Police Substation in Beijing, resulting in the fracture of her neck vertebrae. Despite severe bodily injury, Zhao Xin persisted in her belief in Falun Dafa. By struggling with extreme pain and suffering, she lived six months, a long time in terms of her suffering. Her splendid deeds, in which she refused to yield to evil, won admiration and concern from people all over the world. Review of the Facts- Beijing Police Officers Interfered in the Funeral of Zhao Xin and Arrested the Photographers

I was arrested and detained on Oct. 31, 1999 in the Jing County detention center. I was detained in the same cell as a Dafa practitioner named Liu Lianyi, who was tortured to death. The facts described below are absolutely true and were witness by my own eyes.

Liu Lianyi, male, was approximately 54 years old, and slim. He was brought to the detention center a few days before me. He was often brutally beaten by prisoners. However, no matter how hard these prisoners beat him, how hard they forced him to quit practicing, he never uttered the word "No" when being asked if he would still practice. On Nov. 1, the second day, I was sent to the detention center where the prisoners harshly beat Liu Lianyi because he couldn't recite the prison rules. From then on, the elderly man often pressed his hands over his stomach and sat in the corner, leaning against the brick bed. Even in this state, the prisoners still harshly beat him on and off. A few days later, when Liu Lianyi returned after being interrogated, he covered his stomach with his hands and sat next to the brick bed again like a few days before. Prisoner Zhu Yongshan came over and shouted at him, "Liu Lianyi, do you still practice or not?" Liu Lianyi said: "I just feel it's good. For so many years, no matter how much medicine I had taken, my stomach problem could not be healed; after I started practicing Falun Gong, it recovered completely." Zhu asked again: "I only asked if you would still practice or not?" Liu answered: "I will." After hearing this, prisoner Zhu stomped Liu Lianyi to the floor with one kick. Liu Lianyi pressed his chest (the kicked part) with his hands, slowly stood up against the edge of the brick bed. Before standing up, he was again knocked to the floor by Zhu Yongshan's second kick. Zhu screamed: "Do you still practice or not?" Liu slowly stood up again and said: "I will!" Right after the words came out of his mouth, Zhu knocked him to the floor again. I couldn't remember how many times Liu Lianyi was knocked to the floor like this. Prisoner Zhu finally stopped when he was too tired to hit Liu further.

The next day at lunchtime, after he had only one bite of a Chinese bun, Liu Lianyi suddenly fell to the floor, curled his body up, and went into a seizure, losing control of both urine and stool. Practitioners hurriedly held up Liu's head, brought a blanket, put it under Liu, and at the same time yelled for the detention guard. However the guards didn't care and completely ignored their pleas for help. A little while later, Liu Lianyi's body stiffened and he started rolling on the ground. Upon seeing this, the prisoners realized the emergency; they also started calling the prison guard. This time, the prison guard came unhurriedly, took a look and called Liu Lianyi's name a few times. However, Liu Lianyi could no longer answer him, only struggling painfully. Someone suggested sending him to the hospital immediately. The prison guard again answered unhurriedly: "Wait and see." After a while, the prison guard saw the situation was really bad, then he called a doctor in. The doctor put emergency pills into Liu Lianyi's mouth, injected him with heart stimulant medicine, and measured his blood pressure. However, the situation didn't improve any. Finally they sent Liu Lianyi to the hospital. I never saw him again afterwards. Later, I heard that the detention center had notified Liu's family of his death, and told them he died of a heart attack. But we all know that he didn't have any heart disease. They handled the case of his death case in such a hasty manner.

Falun Dafa Practitioner Wang Lixuan and Her Son Tortured to Death in Tuanhe Labor Re-Education Camp in Beijing

Zhang Wannian, 71, was the head of the Yungang Food Distribution Center in Yandu County, Jiangsu Province. Before he began to practice Falun Gong, he suffered from 11 different diseases. His body had become deformed from these diseases, and it was difficult for him to move around. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1994, and one year later he no longer suffered from any of these ailments without the benefit of any medical intervention. He was an outgoing person, eager to help people in need. He also volunteered as a deputy assistant leader at the local Falun Gong Volunteer Center. He went to Beijing in February to make an appeal on behalf of Falun Gong, where he was arrested and sent back. He was detained at the Yandu County Food Bureau Hotel, where he was forced to undergo "transformation." The guards took turns watching him and forced him to remain standing at all times. His determination in practicing Falun Gong remained unchanged, and he endured the inhumane treatment for 13 days. He was forced to pay 7500 Yuan (Chinese dollars, about fifteen month salary of an averaged worker in cities of China) of "case fee" and was then moved to the Nanyang Detention Center. After a month at the detention center, he was sent to the Yungang Mental Hospital, where he was abused and tortured for another 45 days. He was then sentenced to one year at the labor camps. Around mid-September Mr. Zhang began a hunger strike in protest and became very weak a week later. The prison guards were afraid of being blamed for his death, so they carried him to his home. Mr. Zhang passed away one day later.

On around November 25, 2000, Falun Dafa practitioner - Zhao Jing - died in the police station of Yutian (county), Hebei (province) after she was abused and tortured by evil police. She had dedicated her young life to the cause of Fa rectification of the human world.

Zhao Jing is a 19-year-old female Falun Dafa practitioner of Yushu village, Baishang township, Fengman district, Jilin city, Jilin province. She was on her way to Beijing in a bus that was stopped by a black police car when the bus passed by the Inspection Station of Yutian County, Hebei province on November 23, 2000. On the way to the Public Security Bureau of Yutian County, police asked the driver to stop the vehicle, saying that somebody was jumping out of the vehicle. At that time, the police told the 44 Falun Dafa practitioners on board the bus that the person who jumped out of the vehicle was only slightly wounded. The police also interrogated some practitioners on board for the name and address of the person who jumped from the vehicle.

Some witnesses said that after the girl jumped from the bus, she hired a cab to continue her trip to Beijing. However, she was caught, again.. The practitioners who went with her heard the barking of dogs and the screaming of a girl where they were detained. In two days of detention, many Dafa practitioners were interrogated for the address of Zhao Jing.

Later, the police changed their words and went on saying that Zhao Jing's head had been seriously wounded at the time she jumped out of the bus and she died because she was in a deep coma. This contradicts what the police originally said. A witness has confirmed that Zhao Jing was severely beaten by the police and died in custody, rather than died from jumping out of the bus. After Zhao Jing's corpse was transported back to Jilin (city), the police there asserted that Zhao Jing died because of the wound on her head caused by her jumping from the bus. They then went ahead and cremated the corpse before her family and relatives had an opportunity to inspect it, in an attempt to conceal their heinous crime.

Wang Huachen received the advanced worker award from Jinhua Corporation for the past six years.

An excellent worker and Falun Gong practitioner Wang Huachen from the Jinhua Corporation Ltd (Jinzhou (city), Liaoning (province)) was arrested at 4 PM on November 7 at Ion film workshop of the Chemical Plant, and was taken to the Political Security Unit of Lianshan District Police Department in Huludao (city), (Liaoning).

On the fourth floor of the Political Security Unit, four policemen stripped Wang Huachen to the waist, removed his trousers to below his knees, and cuffed his two hands to the pipe of the heating radiator. Four policemen then used wooden clubs, cattle prods, etc. to beat him. They also shocked him with the electric baton. They tortured him for more than two hours until he lapsed into a coma. They poured cold water on his head and continued beating him after he regained consciousness. When Wang Huachen regained consciousness from another round of beating, he requested to see the head officer. Wang Huachen told Officer Zhang that if he continued to be beat and tortured he would jump from the fourth floor. Officer Zhang, as a local law enforcement officer, didn't offer his help; instead, he kicked, cursed and threatened Wang Huachen, dared him to jump and let him know if he didn't jump the beatings would continue.

After Wang Huachen jumped from the fourth floor, he immediately lapsed in to a coma. It was 6:30 PM. Wang Huachen. He remained in a coma on the ground for two and a half hours, at 9 PM, before he was taken to the hospital emergency room. Zhang, instead, discussed with his men ways to absolve himself from responsibility. At 7 PM, they went toWang Huachen's home, but didn't find any evidence. At the hospital, Wang Huachen was found to have many fractures and signs of being electrocuted and beaten by blunt objects all over his body. Wang Huachen passed away in the Lianshan District Hospital at 11AM on November 18. Officer Zhang, reissued an arrest warrant on November 16 after Wang Huachen was dead. Wang Huachen's tragic death didn't awaken the murderer's, Officer Zhang's, conscience a bit. Instead, he became even harsher. He fabricated the charge of "committing suicide to avoid punishment" against Wang Huachen.

In order to hide the truth, they even prevented news reporter from covering the story. Huachen had been living with his widowed mother. Zhang didn't let her mourn in peace. Instead, he sent people to watch Wang Huachen's home. He was afraid that Wang Huachen's mother and his relatives would disclose the truth to others. When Wang Huachen's relatives reasoned with Zhang, the person in charge of the law enforcement department said, "go wherever you want to sue him, Wang Huachen's death carries no weight..."

After learning Falun Dafa, Wang Huachen had been consecutively appraised as an outstanding worker, and awarded by his leaders many times. Many who know Wang Huachen felt this tragedy was so unfair. People cannot help asking: how could a beautiful beach city allow the existence of a person who is upright, kind and even better than Leifeng (who was a moral model in the 1960's in China) be taken away by the officials who are charged with the welfare of the people?

Through this bloody case of wrong doing that has been soaked with tears, sorrow and pain, we are shocked to see the inhuman and fascist-like darkness and crime! Voices from the people say: Stop the brutality! Punish the murderer!

Dafa practitioner Li Shouqiang, male, born on December 2, 1963, was a resident of Wusheng Dongli, Chaoyang District, Beijing. He was an employee of Beijing Automobile General Assembly Plant. He stepped forward many times to validate Dafa and appeal peacefully. He was arrested on March 8, 2000 when he went to appeal on Tiananmen Square and died on March 20, 2000, at the age of 37.

Since April 25, 1999, Dafa has been persecuted by a few evil people in China's Government. Li Shouqiang stepped forward to guard Dafa by writing letters, appealing to authorities and going to Tiananmen Square. On Chinese Lunar New Year's Day (February 16, 2000) this year, Li and his father (a Dafa practitioner) went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa. He was arrested and detained in Guanzhuang Branch Police Station. Later he was transferred to Panjiayuan Branch Police Station to participate in the so-called "Transformation class". On March 8, 2000, police had a half-day holiday. Li took the opportunity and went to Tiananmen Square with Dafa material. He tried to tell the truth to the government officials during the Chinese People's Congressional session, and tried to let government leaders really understand Dafa. He was arrested again and escorted to his home by three policemen around 10:00 pm on the same day(one of the three policemen was a local policeman named Li Changsheng). The other two police forcibly took all his Dafa materials including Dafa books, cassettes, videotapes, and Master Li's photo. At 11:00 pm, Li Shouqiang was sent to Changping Detention Center where he was interrogated, brutally beaten, and tortured. He was not allowed to drink water. Police plotted to murder him and added a large dose of drugs that affect the central nervous system to Li's Coca Cola. Li was detained for 10 days in this horrible, evil environment.

On the evening of March 18, 2000, Panjiayuan Branch Police Station called Li's family to pick him up from the police station. His elder brother and his mother went there together. Li was detained in an iron cage at that time. On the way back, Li could not speak clearly and said disjointedly: "They (police) fed me drugs, they put drugs in my coke... ... They did not allow me to drink water... ...when I drank, I could not spit it out. They said it would make me die in two days... ... They ask you to pick me up and have me die at home... ... So they don't have any responsibility... ... I should not have gone home, I should die there!" After going home, Li was sometimes clear and sometimes confused. He looked dull and could not think normally. Once, he ran around in the middle of taking shower and others saw lines of brown wounds on the back of his neck, rear waist and on both sides of thighs. Later, he did not eat or drink for two days. On the morning on March 20, 2000, he was in a daze and fell from a balcony, which killed him.

After the incident, the members of the resident committee called the police. A police vehicle with police and two doctors arrived to do the so-called autopsy. One policeman said: "Ah, he was beaten quite hard!" The doctors did not write a single word, not to mention filing an autopsy report. Li's family planned to have his remains cremated and manage related issues locally. The police did not agree and insisted on taking Li's remains to Changping. Later, Sanlitun Branch Police Station called Li's family and asked them to deal with the death-related issues in three days. In order to get more money from Li's family, police did not allow Li's family to put his own clothes on his body but only clothes bought from the police. Li's family endured this insult and followed the police's arrangement. The police forced Li's family to send his remains to be cremated in Changping and buried there, for which Li's family spent more than 10,000 RMB Yuan (US $1,200, about Li's one and half-year's total salary). The government officials persecuted a citizen, directly caused his death and then extorted money from his family, which runs against the heavenly principles! However, this is the real reflection of current China's so-called "People's Police". They are similar to Hitler's Nazi's who killed Jewish people and stole the gold teeth and rings from the dead remains.

An honest, upright, kind young man with high morality died from the state sanctioned persecution in just a few days. The whole process was arranged well, left no trace, and was very "professional". Thus, the incident was "over" quickly. Probably, the police are spending the money in a bar or a restaurant, or looking for their next target. They think that no one knows what they have done, but they should know: "Good will be rewarded with good, evil with evil." Evil people will be punished. No evil people in history escaped the just trial and the righteous people will investigate to the end. Hell is waiting for these evil people that persecute Dafa practitioners!

At Least 85 Practitioners Tortured to Death in Weifang City in the Past Six Years

Kong Qinghuang, male, 33 years old , from Guanting Town, Jianshui County, Yunnan Province was of Yi Nationality. (Yi population is distributed over Yunnan, Sichuan and Guizhou Province). He had a Bachelor's Degree from the Ecology Department, Yunnan University. He was the deputy mayor for more than five years in Linan Town, Jianshui County. He attained Dafa in August 1997 and died as a result of the persecution on September 3, 2000, in Jianshui Town People's Hospital, Yunnan Province.

On April 7, 2000, the Linan Town secretary, Li Ziheng stressed "following the central government's thrust and paying special attention to Falun Gong" in a meeting with more than forty town delegates. Later, Kong Qinghuang promoted Dafa to the leaders at the end of a birth control meeting that he chaired. He told them the truth about Dafa, and talked about many cultivation experiences. He was held in the office for two days to be transformed. Two days later he was detained in the Jianshui Town detention center. Kong's father was very sad upon hearing that his son was detained without reason, learning this caused him to die that day.

Kong Qinghuang was released on May 9. He went back to his work unit to do odds and ends and to deliver newspapers. He was dismissed from his post and expelled from the Party. A month later Kong Qinghuang left his work unit for Beijing to file appeals. He meditated at Tiananmen Square on June 13. Two policemen hit his head and kicked his body. Kong Qinghuang shouted, "Falun Dafa is good. Falun Dafa is a righteous Fa." His sonorous voice shook the surroundings and the bypassing visitors.

Kong Qinghuang was again detained in the Jianshui County detention center on June 28. Kong Qinghuang was on a hunger strike the entire time. On the 12^th day, the detention center force-fed him. In the middle of August, the detention center drove him to the hospital for a transfusion. At that time he was moving about smoothly and appeared calm and at ease. He told his wife, who was once detained there, that the hunger strike made him slim but also gave him more energy.

On August 24, personnel from Jianshui County "610" office forced Kong to go to the hospital. Kong refused to go even unto death. Since he was held in the hospital (Jianshui Town People's Hospital), the hospital drew one to two 5cc tubes of blood each day. They claimed it was to examine him.

On September 1, they persuaded Kong Qinghuang to drink a little bit of soup. After he drank the soup, he held his stomach with tears streaming down his face and appeared to be in tremendous pain. He fainted the next day. On September 3, Kong Qinghuang left us after being on a hunger strike for 67 days. He was hastily cremated by the government personnel. (Note: The specialist from Kunming City suggested that it might be food poisoning.)

Since Kong was at the hospital until the point when he fainted, his wife was not allowed to be with him and take care of him. Kong's wife, Wang Jiayue, who attained the Fa on June 8 of this year, was also detained in Jianshui County detention center for more than 90 days. They didn't release her until September 18. Wang Jiayue was forced to resign and leave home. She is now wandering around and has no home to return to.

Belated Report: Practitioner Kong Qinghuang Dies from Daily Bloodletting while in Custody $$$ 80. Meng Qingxi

Meng Qingxi, male and in his 40's, was from Mengjia Village, Mucun Town, Fangzi District, Weifang City, Shandong Province. On the evening of September 30, 2000, town government officials took him away from his home without reason and sent him to the town law office. There were more than 20 Dafa practitioners being held there, all in the same room. They were detained because the town government wanted to obey the Party's order to "transform the Falun Gong practitioners by force". In fact, everybody knows that the transformation is only an excuse to extort money. They instructed clearly that whoever pays 2,000 Yuan can go home immediately.

Meng Qingxi's entire family practices Dafa. They had been fined more than twenty thousand Yuan since last year. They already owe heavy debts and have difficult lives. They weren't able to collect enough money after visiting all of their relatives and friends. The town government personnel forced them to go home to borrow more money during the day, and then took them back to the law office for "study and transformation". If they couldn't borrow money during the day, they would be brutally tortured at night. Meng and his wife and the other over twenty Dafa practitioners spent almost 60 such nights and days in the law office.

On the night of November 20, Meng Qingxi was beaten to death by government personnel. Then they accused Meng Qingxi of "fearing labor education" and accused him of "committing suicide for fear of punishment". They tried to confuse the people using this rumor. In fact, the more one tries to hide, the more one is exposed. Everybody knows that:

Meng and his wife told the town government many times that they would rather be sent to a labor camp than pay the fine. The town government replied, "You are not qualified for labor education." How can Meng be "afraid of labor education" and "commit suicide"?

Why did the town government send the practitioners back home quietly on the night when Meng was killed?

After Meng was beaten to death, the town government forced cremation and buried him. What is the purpose? Because they were afraid that people would see his horrible looking body that was beaten to death. They were afraid that people would know of their sins.

The town government is monitoring Meng Qingxi's family 24 hours a day and does not allow them to contact the outside, because the evil is most afraid of being exposed.

Dai Xiangguang, the assistant of Falun Gong Futian City Assistance Center, was a kind and honest person. He died during the state sanctioned persecution over a year ago.

He had been detained many times before July 22, 1999. On July 22, 1999, he was handcuffed by a county police officer. Later, his uncle went to see him but was not permitted by the Police Department. At one o'clock on the 23^rd, his uncle went again to the detention room on the 7^th floor and asked to see him but was again rejected. When he went down to the 6^th floor, he heard a scream. Then the police told him that Dai had jumped from the building and had fallen on the third floor balcony. He ran to the third floor but did not see any trace of him. The police told him that he was sent to the hospital already. When he went to hospital, the police officer stopped him from entering and told him that Dai was undergoing emergency treatment. When Dai's family rushed to the hospital, the police only let them quickly glance at Dai's body before the body was sent to the crematorium. Dai's family appealed to the Judicial Department but was rejected. Later, the police officers said that they would compensate 50,000 Yuan but then they told the family that 50,000 Yuan was just enough for the cremation fee. Dai's family said that the police were just trying to cover up the truth but they had no place to appeal. Later, the TV station of Futian City and Fujian Province, newspapers, and other media reported, as informed by the police, Dai's death as "Afraid of punishment, he jumped from the 7^th floor and committed suicide." This deceived the huge audience and misrepresented Falun Gong and Dai. It also created a negative atmosphere. One year later, kind people can still see from this how the government disregarded human life and the fact that it cruelly persecuted Falun Gong. Dai's grandfather, parents, wife, and daughter are living in a very difficult circumstance in the countryside now.

Falun Dafa practitioner Li Wenrui died while in the custody of the Beijing Police. He was arrested while safeguarding Dafa in Beijing. Li Wenrui, male, born in February 10, 1963, was an official at the Foreign Trade Bureau in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. On November 6, 2000, he went to Beijing to protect the Fa and was arrested. On November 9, his family was notified of his death. His family members found many bruises on his body as a result of beatings. His body was cremated, on November 12, by Beijing Police.

Yang Guizhen, 40, was a villager from Taojialin Village in the township of Guanzhen, Zhucheng City, Shandong Province. She was arrested this September for distributing Falun Gong flyers and thrown into the Zhucheng City Detention Center. The guards brought her in for an interrogation on September 14^th, and because she refused to sign a form that declared her to be a member of a XX, several guards instigated some inmates to give her a terrible beating. After the beating, she was handcuffed to a chair for four days and four nights. During that time, she was not given any food or water, and she was not even allowed to go to the bathroom. When she was finally allowed to go to the bathroom on the 17^th, she was no longer able to walk on her own, fell unconscious to the ground, and stopped breathing. A guard resuscitated her by pinching her Renzhong (a major acupuncture point). As soon as she regained consciousness, the guards handcuffed her back to the chair again. A short while later, this gentle and kind farming woman passed away forever.

After the tragedy took place, an information blockade was imposed right away. Trying to prevent the news of her death from leaking out, the police surrounded her village, kept a close watch over her relatives, and arrested any practitioner who had known her or was trying to find out what had happened to her. But as all the crimes committed against Falun Gong practitioners are being exposed one by one, how could they stop the news of a death from coming out? How could a precious life just vanish without trace? The truth always manages to come out in the end.

At Least 85 Practitioners Tortured to Death in Weifang City in the Past Six Years $$$ 76. Wang Lixia

Wang Lixia, approximately 46-years-old, lived in the village of Yushuli, Balibao County, Shuangta District, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested on September 5, 2000 by the Shuangta District Police Department and detained at the Chaoyang 2^nd Detention Center. She held a hunger strike for 13 days and was released on the 15^th day. Before she was released, the police agreed to give back her copy of Zhuan Falun but did not keep their word. So after she returned home, she asked her husband to carry her on his back and go to the Shudangta Police Department to get the book back (her legs had become so swollen that she was no longer able to walk on her own). The police refused to give her the book back, but instead they threw her into the detention center again. She went on another hunger strike for 9 days, and the police tried to force-feed her. The feeding tube punctured her mouth and left a gaping hole there. On October 9, the guards at the detention center realized that she was on the verge of death and carried her back to her home, where she passed way later that day.

$$$ 75. Gu Jiahong

Gu Jiahong, male, 27, was a boiler worker at the Third Division of the Fifth Engineering Department of China Construction in Changsha, Hunan Province. In December 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. He was detained on the sixth floor of Changsha liaison office in Beijing. In the early morning of December 8, he fell from the sixth floor and was found dead.

Gu Jiahong obtained Dafa in September 1996. He then volunteered as an assistant at the local practice site. He was a kind, upright and hardworking person. He lived frugally. He was known as a good, meticulous and responsible person at his workplace.

On July 21 and 22 of 1999, he went to the provincial government of Hunan Province to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. He was arrested on July 22. Upon returning to his workplace, he exchanged experiences with fellow practitioners encouraging them to be more resolute and to step forward to validate Dafa.

On September 7, when he heard that four practitioners who worked at the former Falun Gong Research Society were to be put on trial, Gu Jiahong immediately went to Beijing to lodge an appeal. He had to return home however when he learned, upon his arrival in Beijing, that the trial had been postponed. On October 20, he went to Beijing for the second time. On October 28, he lodged an appeal at the Appealing Office at Yongdingmen, Beijing. He was then arrested and tortured. On November 2, he was sent back to Changsha City, and was illegally detained for half a month. After his release, he became more active in sharing his experiences with other practitioners and encouraging them to step forward to validate Dafa.

On December 2, together with six fellow practitioners, he made another trip to Beijing to validate Dafa. On December 3, he was arrested in Tiananmen Square while carrying a Dafa banner; he was sent to and detained at Changsha City's liaison office in Beijing.

Five days later, he decided to escape the office to validate Dafa. In the early morning of December 8, he fell from the window of the sixth floor of the liaison office, and was found dead. The incidence is under investigation.

Pei Ouhua, female, 61, lived at Zhongshan South Ave, Hengyang City, Hunan Province.
In November 1999, Pei Ouhua went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. She was taken back and detained at Baisha Drug-rehabilitation Center in Hengyang City. She went on a hunger strike. Four days later, she became weak and was vomiting. She was taken to hospital by her relatives and died on the third day.

About 8 pm on the evening of October 17^th, 2000, the police from Chaoyang In their governing region, District branch office of Huainan City in Anhui Province, conducted a search, without any grounds, of home of the Dafa practitioner Guiying Xie. (Guiying Xie, female, 32. Former employee of Quanshan Tax Bureau of Huainan City, dismissed because she went to appeal to the central government.) Guiying Xie tried to protect the Dafa books and did not want to go with the police. Many people came to watch. The police separated her family and dispersed the surrounding people by telling them some lies, then grabbed her by the hair and began beating and kicking her. Later, the police forcibly sent her against her will to the Chaoyang police branch for detention.

Early the next morning (18^th), Guiying Xie was sent to the People's Hospital of the city because of her serious injuries. According to the eyewitness from the hospital, she was wearing very thin clothes and lying on a plank without a blanket. Her whole body was trembling and her lips were chapped. She seemed to be in extreme pain. However, she was still able to talk and drink. Three policemen were watching her. No effort to save her was witnessed at the time. At around 10 AM on October 18^th, Guiying Xie left this world. At 4PM, her body was sent to the Datong Funeral Home by the public security guards.

Later, the Chaoyang police branch spread the lie that Guiying Xie committed suicide by jumping off a building, in order to get out of their responsibility for the crime.

Yixin Wang, a 61 year-old male, was from Guojiacun Village of the Gouxi Town of Fangzi District of Weifang City. Before practicing Falun Gong, he had difficulty moving about and suffered from different diseases. Since he began practicing Falun Dafa, he didn't feel tired even after riding his bicycle for dozens of miles.

On June 30^th, 2000, some people led by Changchun Song, the deputy secretary of the town branch of the Chinese Communist Party took Mr. Wang and illegally locked him in the yard of the public road station for over 40 days. During this period Mr. Wang slept on the wet cement floor everyday. The only coat that he used as a cover on the floor was also stolen. Mr. Wang endured inhuman torture both physically and mentally, everyday. In the end he went on a hunger strike for two days to protest when it became unbearable. On the third day he was sent home. At home Mr. Wang could not take food, stayed in bed, and looked sallow, could not take care of relieving himself. Soon Mr. Wang passed away.

Zhihe Wang, a 62 year-old female, is the wife of Yixin Wang. After being detained for 15 days, she was locked in the bus station together with another six practitioners including her husband Yixin Wang, her son Shengyun Wang, and her daughter-in-law Xiumei Tang. Her 14 year-old grandson was left at home, alone without any care.

During the detention period, Changchun Song, together with his hired thugs, heavily beat the practitioners on two occasions. They turned off the lights at night, covered the people with sacks, then the hired thugs started a thunderstorm of beating and kicking, shamelessly pinching and twisting the inner side of female practitioners' thighs, scratching and hitting, and kicking practitioners' lower body parts. The practitioners who were beaten were black and purple all over their bodies. Changchun Song once said fiendishly, "The XX party has no need to pay back the lives killed."

Weifang City Dafa Practitioner Wang Shengyun's Statement About the Torture Death of Her Father Wang Yixin in Shandong Province $$$ 67. Dong Yongwei

Dong Yongwei was from Dalongtang village, Longtang town, Lushunkou District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He was the Dafa assistant in Longwangtang. He had been chosen as an "excellent Communist Party member" on many occasions. In addition, he was the director of both the Dalongtang Latex Factory and the Chenglong Hard Plastic and Bottle Lid Factory. In July 1999, he was asked to withdraw from the Communist Party because he insisted on practicing Falun Dafa.

At about 8pm on the night of July 21, 2000, the local police followed Dong Yongwei when he traveled to Dalian to get Teacher's Jingwen ("Eliminate Interference" article). Upon his return, even before he had a chance to step into his home, the local police station leader, Mr. Sun, policeman Zhang Henghai and another policeman who had been waiting outside his home for a long time, took him away and sent him to the Lushunkou District detention center.

Several days later someone went to visit him and saw him sitting in an iron chair with both of his hands handcuffed to the chair. He smiled at the visitor and said: "I am fine and I have already gotten used to the life here."

At 11:30am on August 2, Dong was released from the detention center. He looked very weak and threw up without end as soon as he got out of the police car. There were bloodstains on his white shirt. That night, he had a fever and experienced non-stop pain. He was too weak to speak and he could only write some short words. However, he was very clear in his mind. His family wanted to send him to the hospital but he refused to go. He couldn't fall asleep the entire night.

At noon on August 3, Dong became even weaker and he could hardly endure the pain. His family sent him to No. 210 Hospital in Dalian. The doctor couldn't find his pulse and had no way to measure his blood pressure when he was checked in. Dong still kept a clear mind at that time. One hour later Dong passed away, no more than 24 hours after he was released from the detention center.

Before Dong passed away, he had written down the following with great difficulty: "I did not write the promise that I will not practice Dafa." From the very beginning to the end, no single practitioner got implicated because of him.

Dong, a well-known kind-hearted person who helped many poor children return to school, died in the custody of the police who are directed by Jiang Zemin.

Zou Wenzhi, a 54-year-old man from Jiuli, Jinzhou District, Dalian City, was an employee of the Dalian Chemical Industry Group Corporation. On October 16, 2000, Zou went to work where he was summoned to the security division of the company. At about 3pm in the afternoon, his body was sent to the mortuary in the company hospital.

The company claimed to the outside that Zou committed suicide at home, but according to people who knew the truth, Zou did not leave the security division at all that day. His body was cremated on October 19. The company blocked the news and sent out rumors that Zou committed suicide. Now this case is under investigation.

The responsible parties are: major leaders of the company, the security division, and Dalian police station.

Police Torture Practitioner Zou Wenzhi from Dalian City to Death; Officials Try to Buy His Family Members' Silence $$$ 65. Wang Youju

Wang Youju, a 64-year-old woman, was the former principal of Wafangdian hygienic school, Dalian City. She was also a Communist Party member. She had retired before she died.

On July 22, 2000, Wang was taken away from home by the Gongji local police station and was sent to Wafangdian detention center. She was forced to work for long hours every day and would not be allowed to sleep if she could not finish the assignment.

On July 31, the police decided to release Wang and other practitioners. She was very weak when she got out of the jail and she required other's support. She began to shiver while she was signing the release form. She felt very uncomfortable in her heart and later she could not even stand. The ambulance came and the doctor gave her emergency treatment in the office of the detention center. That same night, Wang died in the office of the detention center.

Wang's family planned to sue the responsible parties but there have not gotten any results yet.

Wang Youju, former Vice-principal of Wafangdian City Hygiene School in Liaoning Province, Was Beaten to Death by the Police (04/15/01)

Since July 22nd of last year when the government labeled Falun Gong an "evil cult," in order to safeguard and validate the Fa, Cai Mingtao went to Beijing to appeal twice. Both times he was arrested and sent back to Wuhan. During one of his appeals, he served as the interpreter for the Beijing news conference of Falun Gong on Oct. 28th 1999. For this, he experienced a great deal of persecution and was put under all kinds of coercive pressure to be "transformed." For instance, in the "closed-door" class for major Falun Gong members of Wuchang district, he was tortured by the guards, senior officer Xiong, and secretary Li who was in charge of the class. They beat his face so severely that his eyes swelled shut, and blood from his mouth and nose dyed his shirt red. He was kicked in the groin so badly that he could not stand up straight. They also hung him by his handcuffs so that his feet could not touch the ground for up to ten hours at a time, and sometimes they did not release his handcuffs for over 20 hours, day and night. He was forced to run in the burning sun for over 2 hours, but he endured the enormous pain and stuck it out firmly. His determined heart could not be shaken.

On Oct. 5th of this year, after reading the report of how the police brutalized and arrested Dafa practitioners at Tiananmen Square five days earlier, he immediately decided to validate Dafa in Beijing once again. But his parents-- worried about his safety-- locked him in. However, his heart for stepping out and validating Dafa could not be locked up. Tragically, that night when he tried to escape by climbing down the drainpipe, he fell to the ground and died.

Zong Hengjie, male, 34 years old, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. During the National Day (October 1) period, Zong was brutally beaten in the Tiexi district police substation. He was tortured to death on October 3, 2000. The police shirked responsibility afterwards, and to cover up the truth, said that Zong committed suicide. The Tiexi district police substation, district procuratorate, and court, together denied all responsibility for Zong's murder. They disallowed Zong's relative to appeal or ask for an attorney. They did not allow an autopsy and ordered Zong's body to be creamated.

In Memory of Practitioner Ms. Qi Fengqin of the Forestry Department of Liaocheng City, Shandong Province

We Cherish the Memory of Fellow Falun Gong Practitioner, Qi Fengqin

Qi Fengqin, 43 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Liaocheng, Shandong Province. She was a steadfast believer of Dafa and a diligent cultivator. Before her death, she was an accountant at the Liaocheng Agricultural Department and a member of the Communist Party. She was fired from her job in 1999 due to practicing Falun Gong. One day in early September of 2000, she went out to pass out truth-clarifying flyers such as "The Truth about Falun Dafa and How Its Practitioners Have Been Persecuted." As a result, she was arrested and thrown in jail. A month later (around October 11, 2000), the news that she had passed away came out.

The authorities refused to release her after she finished her term at the detention center. Instead, they continued to hold her at the local police squad, where she protested by six days of hunger strike. The cause of her death is not clear at this point, since only scattered information has been received. One theory is that the police killed her when they tried to force-feed her and the feeding tube punctured her lung. Another report claims that the autopsy discovered a large area of her stomach had been chemically burned. After her death, the authorities froze her body without giving her loved ones a chance to pay their final respects. The authorities also tried to prevent the news of her death from getting out. Practitioners who knew what happened were all thrown in jail within days following her death. In addition, her husband has vanished. The authorities have also extended the prison term of a fellow practitioner with the surname of Li, who was locked up in the same jail cell with Qi Fengqin.

$$$ 61. Xuan Chengxi

Xuan Chengxi, male, 61 years old, lived in Dongxia village, Beiguan of Weicheng District. He was honest and kind, and thus was held in high esteem in the village. The villagers were shocked by the bloody news that he had been beaten to death. The village, in which Xuan Chengxi lived, is very close to that of Chen Zixiu, another Dafa practitioner who was also beaten to death (Note: Her case was reported by the Wall Street Journal). Both of them belonged to the Beiguan area of the Weicheng District.

Yuhe County is one of the seven "major transforming centers" in Weicheng District of Weifang City, Shandong Province. After Oct. 1st, 2000, around twenty Falun Dafa practitioners were taken to the county government. They went to Beijing to appeal, after which they were caught and sent back, to be cruelly tortured. Some of them even fainted many times because of the brutal beatings. Amongst them, there was a female practitioner who was over 50 years old. The thugs splashed her with cold water after she fainted because of the beating, and then continued to beat her when she regained consciousness. As a result, her ankles became severely swollen, and her whole body was bruised. Other Dafa practitioners were illegally detained because they made the truth of Dafa known to people around the world. Faced with such cruel beatings, one practitioner could not endure the suffering of the brutal torture any longer, so he disclosed that he obtained the promotional materials of clarifying the facts about Falun Gong from Falun Dafa practitioner, Xuan Chengxi. Thereby, Xuan Chengxi was dragged to the government of Yuhe County on Oct. 12. The thugs include Chu Yongsheng (secretary of the county's Committee of Politics and Law), Chen Yonghua (director of the administrative office of the county), a county staff member, Chen Longshan, and a person whose surname is Yang (head of the Armed Forces Department), took turns beating Xuan Chengxi until he died from the painful brutality. After Xuan Chengxi was beaten to death, the relevant departments and the county government tightly blocked the passage of information, closed the village where practitioner Xuan lived, and forbade the people from coming or going in order to keep the news from leaking out. Without first notifying his relatives, they secretly had his body cremated.

Zhang Zhiyou, male, 45 years old, lived in Yuhe County, Weicheng District of Weifang City, Shandong Province. Both he and his wife are Falun Dafa practitioners. The couple has taken good care of their parents and was always happy to help others, which has earned them a good reputation in their village.

On July 21st, 1999, the couple was taken to the county government because they went to Beijing to appeal. They were brutally beaten up and were forced to pay 1,700 Yuan RMB (about $200) as an economic punishment. In October of 1999, while the wife of Zhang Zhiyou, Li Lingyun went to Beijing to appeal, the county government officials dragged Zhang to the judicial office, and then cruelly beat him. He was physically abused for an entire day. In April of 2000, Li Lingyun once again went to Beijing to appeal. After she was escorted back to Weifang, the county government officials beat her so cruelly that she lost consciousness. The thugs didn't want to bear the responsibility, so they asked a Falun Dafa practitioner to send her back home in a tricycle. Zhang Zhiyou hid himself away from his home for a month. However, he was still unable to escape the adversity after he returned. He was so brutally beaten by the county government officials that his whole body was bruised. He still felt burdened with pressure in the chest two months later and the suffering was so unbearable that he could hardly breathe. The couple was forced to pay 8,000 Yuan RMB as a fine. They borrowed money from all around, and thus their life became extremely difficult.

On Oct. 4th, 2000, in order to clarify the truth of Falun Gong and say a few just words for Dafa, they once again went to Beijing to appeal. On Oct 5th, they were deceived by a plainclothes policeman at a corner in Tiananmen Square, and then were transferred to Weifang agency in Beijing. On the early morning of Oct. 6th, on their way back, Zhang Zhiyou clearly knew that even if he were not beaten to death, he would be subjected to severe torture after being sent back to Yuhe County. Due to the new round of persecution from "the Chinese Central Government", the policy of persecuting Falun Gong has been well known by almost everyone. Under the new policy of persecution of Falun Gong, the action taken by the thugs against Falun Gong has become more rampant. Therefore, Zhang Zhiyou decided to return to Beijing to appeal for the innocence of Falun Gong. When the train reached Cangzhou, practitioner Zhang, along with another four practitioners, jumped out of the window of the train while the policemen were fast asleep. Zhang Zhiyou died. His body was forcibly cremated in Cangzhou on Oct 8th.

At Least 85 Practitioners Tortured to Death in Weifang City in the Past Six Years $$$ 59. Zhuang Guangxin

Zhuang Guangxin, a 21 year-old male practitioner, lived in the city of Qionghai in Hainan province. On October 6th of this year, he went to the local police station to visit a fellow practitioner who was being there. The next day, he was arrested while at the home of another fellow practitioner and brought to the seventh floor of the Jingrong building for interrogation. In the morning of October 8th, he was found dead in front of the same building. His eyes were wide open, and his body was covered with multiple cuts and bruises.

According to eyewitnesses, there was no blood found near the body, and there was an extremely high level of police presence around the body. The witnesses deduced that the body was left there after the victim was murdered. Twenty hours after the fact, police officials notified the mother of the victim to come pick up her son's body. They claimed that when he was being interrogated, he panicked and jumped from the building's balcony to avoid punishment. The citizens of the township wanted to raise an official inquiry into the activities of the local police station, and some practitioners went to get answers from the station chief. The station chief avoided questions and did not offer a clear explanation of what happened.

Zhuang Guangxin was known around the township as a model citizen. It is hard not to ask the question, "What crime has he committed, and why would he commit suicide?!" We implore the public and the world media to focus their attention on this matter and bring the truth to light. The least we can do is to clear Zhuang Guangxin's name and prevent this kind of callous, wanton, and criminal activity against innocent citizens happening again.

$$$ 58. Wang Yuru

Wang Yuru, a sixty-year-old farmer from the south side of Qu County in Sichuan Province, was sent back to the Qu county detention center in late January of this year because she went to Beijing to appeal to the Chinese government.

On February 4, the police tried to force her to write a promise stating that she would never practice Falun Gong. She firmly refused this request. As a result, the police beat her badly, trying to force her to write the promise. Faced with such evil despotic power, Wang endured the enormous pain and told them that she would still practice Falun Gong even if she were beaten to death. Later, Wang really was beaten to death.

After examining Wang's body, the legal medical expert ascertained that the death was due to injury to her heart caused by beating.

Two other practitioners were also persecuted to death at the Qu county detention center. Before Wang's death, farmer Miu Qun suffocated to death because the police inserted the pipe into her trachea instead of her throat when force-feeding her.

Liu Xianzhu, a farmer of over 50 years old also from the south side of Qu county, went together with Wang Yuru to appeal. He was beaten so cruelly that his entire lower body was disabled and he lost the ability to control his bladder and to take care of himself.

The government officials of Sichuan Province did not even pay any attention to these crimes.

Sixty Year-Old Woman Dead in Labor Reeducation Camp at the Beginning of the New Year

60-Year-Old Falun Dafa Practitioner Yan Huiqing Is Beaten to Death in the Shanxi Provincial Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Yan Huiqin from Xi'an City, Shanxi Province was sentenced to labor education for over one year and was deprived of her life while in jail. Even sadder is that her family members and her friends know nothing about the details of her death.

Zheng Junshu was a 24-year-old female student of Yanbian University. She was originally from Erdaogang Village, Jilin City, Jilin Province. She went to Beijing to appeal in August 1999. Later the Security Department of her university decided to take her back to school. Zheng did not want to be taken away and wanted to stay in Beijing to keep appealing and telling the facts pertaining to Dafa. She jumped out of the train on the way back to her school but, unfortunately lost her life. The local police station cremated her body and stole all of the money (over 3,000 Yuan, prepared by practitioners for their stay and appeal in Beijing) in her pocket.

Wang Bin, male, about 47 years old, was a computer engineer at the Design Institute of the Daqing Oil Management Bureau. He was once awarded the second prize of the National Science and Technology Award. Last December, he took the initiative, along with more than 200 Dafa practitioners in Daqing city, Heilongjiang Province, to sign their names on the "Falun Dafa is Good" banner. When he took this banner and a petition letter to appeal to the National People's Congress, he was detained for more than one hundred days. This April, he was arrested by the overly nervous police for 45 days and charged with "contact with other practitioners" simply because he had a meal with nine practitioners. After his release, he went to Beijing at the end of May to appeal and was sentenced to a labor camp. On September 24, he firmly refused to write the guarantee letter at Dongfeng Xingchun Labor Camp in Daqing city and was severely beaten many times.

Wang Bin was severely beaten up by 4 or 5 prisoners on the night of September 27, 2000. The beating was instigated by Feng Xi, the director of the Second Team of the labor camp. Feng Xi said to the principal offender, "You can beat him to death if he doesn't write the guarantee letter." The torture caused the artery in his neck and major blood vessels to break. His tonsils were injured, his lymph nodes crushed (they had their circulation cut off), and several bones fractured. He had cigarette burns on the back of his hands and inside his nostrils. There were also many bruises all over his body. It was too horrible to see his condition, and his life was in danger at that time. On that night, he was tortured until he fainted. Someone reported his condition to the prison guard and asked him to take Wang Bin to the hospital. The guard rejected the request, saying that it was no problem, and that Wang Bin would wake up in a while. Wang Bin remained unconscious through to the next day. When he was finally taken to the hospital, the doctor said it was too late to rescue him. On the night of October 4, he died of severe injuries, including ruptured blood vessels and heart failure. This is one more Dafa practitioner who lost his life for validating Dafa, for telling people the truth and for steadfastly cultivating in Falun Dafa. We appeal to all the kind-hearted people to voice your concern about this matter, to help those illegally detained and arrested practitioners in China, and to stop the evil deeds of Jiang Zemin (the Chinese president) and his gang. The Second Team of the labor camp was dismissed due to this matter, the principal offender and his gang were taken away, and their whereabouts are unknown.

Liu Jiankun, male, 31 years old, was from City of Liaoyuan, Jilin Province. He obtained Falun Dafa in the second half of 1998. He was sentenced to one year of forced labor in February 2000 and was sent to Baiquan Labor Camp.

In the labor camp, Liu Jiankun acted the same way as he did in his job at "Sanliangong," willing to work hard and to treat others politely. However, because he continued doing Falun Gong exercises in prison, wardens instigated the regular prisoners, jailed in the same cell, to beat him viciously again and again. May 2000, Liu Jiankun started to suffer pain in his chest and by July 2 he was not able to eat. On July 5, the labor camp notified his family that he was ill and allowed him to go home for medical treatment. When he returned home, he did not have the strength to wring dry a towel. Yet until his release, labor camp wardens forced him to engage in heavy labor. He was later examined by the City Hospital of Liaoyuan, Longshan District Hospital and a hospital in the City of Changchun. It was confirmed that one of Liu Jiankun's ribs were fractured and fluid had dangerously accumulated in his chest. His whole body was so swollen that he could not even put on pants. On August 27, Liu Jiankun died in the Second Hospital of Liaoyuan City. The details of how he was beaten are not known at present. Currently, his family members, out of concern for their own safety, are unwilling to provide photos of Liu Jiankun when he was alive.

Cui Xiaojuan, 40, was a lecturer at the Daqing City Police Academy. On July 22, 1999, she joined other practitioners to hold a group appeal for Falun Gong in front of the Helongjiang Province Administration Building in Harbin (the capital of the province). From there, she then directly went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was arrested in Tiananmen Square. Because she refused to give the police her name and address, she was detained at the Beijing Changpin Detention Center as "Unknown #1." The police physically abused her numerous times.

After she conducted a ten-day hunger strike, they even forced her to stand outside under the scorching sun at the height of the summer for three days. After she was detained there for about a month, the police from her hometown of Daqing recognized her, brought her back, and threw her into the local detention center for 15 days. After her release, because she refused to promise to give up Falun Gong, she was detained at her workplace, where she was allowed no outside contact. Her employer returned her to the detention center for another 15 days, as she still refused to give up Falun Gong. They tried to send her to the labor camp but did not get the permission to do so, so they continued to hold her illegally at her workplace. On December 30, 1999, because her father signed her name for her on a huge flag that reads "Falun Dafa is good," (which was then sent to the People's Congress to appeal for Dafa), she was sent back to the detention center again. On the way to the detention center, she was allowed to go home to pick up some clothes under police escort. She jumped from the balcony of her home on the fifth floor. She chose to give her life to protest her illegal detainment and to defend Dafa.

That was the first time that she had been allowed to go home during the past six months. Her husband (a fellow practitioner), wearing handcuffs and ankle shackles, was escorted from the local detention center to attend her funeral. According to her husband, the last time he saw Xiaojuan, her face looked so peaceful and serene. She went to a better world with a smile on her face.

Cui Jianguo, male, 36 years old, was a resident of Yongqiang Sub-district, Changba District in Jilin City, Jilin Province. On July 5, 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Dafa. He was taken away and sent to the Miyun town on the night of July 7. Earlier that day, he had displayed a banner at Tiananmen Square. At around 10 AM on July 11, he was transferred to Jilin Detention Center and locked on the 8th floor. At 11AM, he was sent back after being taken away for interrogation. He told other practitioners about how police abusively interrogated him and his fellow practitioners. The police wanted him to swear at Teacher and Dafa, otherwise they would beat him in various ways. He said, "How can a practitioner rebuke the Teacher, rebuke Dafa?" At around 1 PM, he was taken away for interrogation a second time. The other practitioners returned only to discover Cui's pair of shoes and insoles thrown within a meter from the door entrance; he never returned since. The police came later and asked Cui's family to collect his body, informing them that Cui had jumped out of the window and committed suicide.

Practitioner Cui is now gone -- gone in such a hurry because of maltreatment and injustice while in police custody. His jobless wife and little daughter are now left on their own.
$$$ 50. Tao Hongsheng

Falun Dafa practitioner Tao Hongsheng, male, 46, worked in the Security Department of Hebei Province. In 1994, he was transferred from the air force to work in the Security Department of Heibei Province. Home address: No. 2 Dormitory Building, Apartment 2-501, Security Department, Hebei Province, Tel: 0311-3618132.

On December 26th 1999, Tao Hongsheng opened up a "Falun Dafa" banner at Tiananmen Square . Consequently, he was deprived of employment and membership in the Communist Party, and was sentenced to labor camp for three years. He was detained in No. 2 Team, No. 201 Group of the detention center of Shijiazhuang City (Capital of Hebei Province).

When July 20th 2000, the sensitive date of Jiang Zeming's Government suppression of Falun Gong, drew near, the detention center further persecuted the so-called "important person" and "backbone" of Dafa practitioners . They were locked in a "small cell" where they were absolutely deprived of all freedom and free space. Tao Hongsheng, Wu Bing (a teacher from No. 18 Middle School of Shijiazhuang city), Wang Jin (from Advanced Education area of Shijiazhuang City), and another practitioner from Xinji county were detained in the "small cell" for about 2 months.

The situation of the "small cell" detention was terrible. Basic food and drink sanitation could not be guaranteed at all. Vegetables were not clean. Food went moldy. Sometimes, there were even 1-inch long worms in the food or vegetables. In late August, most practitioners began to have diarrhea. This situation has continued for one month. Tao Hongsheng had diarrhea almost everyday and then he had bloody stool. He was in bed and unable to eat for nearly 20 days, breathing with difficulty, suffering from diarrhea and severe edema.

During this period, Tao Hongsheng's health condition deteriorated. The diarrhea and edema worsened. His eye could only slightly open due to severe edema and he often had blood in his urine and stool. In order not to let others know about the persecution, the detention center rejected all visits, even from his wife Yu Fengyun. In the meantime, the detention center lied that Tao Hongsheng just had slight diarrhea and was recovering.

However, in the face of Tao's deteriorating health and increasing blood in his urine and stool, they knew their offence was big . On September 13th, they deceived Tao into thinking that someone wanted to visit him. Tao Hongsheng believed it and tried his best, with great willpower, to support himself and walked trembling down the stairs. Then he was handcuffed and forcefully sent to Urology Department of No. 2 Hospital of Hebei Province.

When his wife was informed by the detention center to go to the hospital, Tao was no longer the healthy person he was before detention. He was too weak to speak and on the verge of death. Intravenous injection and oxygen supply could not relieve his symptoms. He excreted bloody urine or stool every 20 minutes; the food was all drained out of his body.

During his hospitalization, two directors from the Security Department carried nutriments to visit him. However, all information about Mr. Tao was blocked.

In order to escape from the responsibility, the detention center and the Security Department negotiated and quickly permitted Tao's outside-detention hospitalization for half a year from September 18, 2000 to March 16, 2001. (The period of hospitalization was not counted in the three-year detention.) However, it was too late for Tao to receive the necessary treatment.

On September 17, Tao Hongsheng was send back home. In this way the detention center shirked the responsibility to his family members. At 1:10pm on September 20th, Tao Hongsheng closed his eyes forever and left his wife and two daughters.

That day, it was raining all over Shijiazhuang city. The sky was filled with righteous indignation.

After his death, the Security Department of Hebei province undertook all the funeral arrangements. Still, during this period of time, they tried to further block the news. An officer called to put pressure on Tao's family: "Don't tell others about his death."

Now there are still three Dafa practitioners suffering from severe diarrhea. Their living condition is extremely bad. They have started a hunger strike to protest.

Tian was a Falun Gong practitioner and detained at the Fengyi town government facilities on July 12th or 13th, 2000, for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Lead by Cao Chengxu, the staff at Fengyi town government persecuted 17 Falun Gong practitioners, including Tian Xiangcui. On the first day, a strong male practitioner was beaten up so badly that he had to be carried by two staff members to use the bathroom, as he couldn't go on his own. The practitioners were forced to stand still for the whole day under the burning sun, facing east in the morning and west in the afternoon. The staff also beat the practitioners twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Oftentimes, four or five people surrounded and beat one practitioner.

Because Tian Xiangcui had a Falun Dafa banner in her bag, she was beaten the most. The staff beat her at noon when it was the hottest time during the summer months. They not only beat her with their hands and feet, but also with an electric baton. Due to the heat in the summer and the severe beating, Tian was not able to eat anything and coughed badly while she was detained in the town government. Her phlegm also smelled badly. On July 17th, Tian and other practitioners were jailed in the Zhangjia Gou detention center. Tian went into a coma. Three days later, on July 20th, Tian's family members were told to take her home. Tian remained in a coma after returning home. On July 22nd, Tian was sent to the hospital. She never regained consciousness and passed away.

Tian's daughter said that Tian didn't say a word after being taken home. Her body was covered with wounds. The hospital was not able provide medical report.

Return Justice to Tian Xiangcui, Who Was Tortured to Death by the Fengyi Town Government (Longkou City, Shandong Province) (01/18/01)

$$$ 48. Ge Xiulan

Since the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese government last July, Ge Xiulan went to various levels of local governments, several times, to tell the truth about Falun Gong. As a consequence, she was persecuted to death. Policemen and people from the neighborhood watch moved into her home, watching her 24 hours a day. They followed her closely even when she went to use the bathroom. In early March 2000, she committed suicide with poison due to the unbearable persecution.

Since Ge Xiulan practiced Falun Dafa, the pain caused by ligation of her oviducts for many years disappeared and she became very energetic. Though Ge was not formally well educated, she was a kind-hearted, honest person, and always willing to help people. She attained Dafa books from other areas and took them home devoutly. She asked Teacher to help her understand the books. A miracle happened -- she was able to quickly read through Zhuan Falun.
$$$ 47. Lin Limei

Falun Dafa practitioner Lin Limei and her younger sister Lin Lifen (other name Liu Lihua) of Qitaihe City of Heilongjiang Province, went to Beijing to appeal in the middle of this May. They were detained at the Qitaihe Liason Office in Beijing. A few days later, Qitaihe city police took Li Lifen and some other practitioners back to their hometown. At the time, Qitaihe police said that Lin Limei belonged to the Forestry Bureau of Bolie County which was not under the jurisdiction of Qitaihe City. They left Lin Limei at the Liason Office in Beijing. Because of this, the people in the Liason Office were furious towards Lin Limei and they later notified the Police Department of Forestry Bureau of Bolie County to send somebody to Beijing to take Lin Limei back. However, after those people who were from Police Department of Forestry Bureau of Bolie County arrived at Beijing, they went sight-seeing in Beijing. By the time they finished their sight-seeing tour in Beijing and got to the Liason Office, Lin Limei was already dead. They informed Lin's family about her death and told them that Lin had died by jumping out of the building. However, Lin Limei died with her hands hand-cuffed behind her back. Her body was facing up and impaled on top of an iron fence. Her death scene was too horrible to look at. Based on an experts' opinion, a death like this is definitely not a suicide. They suspected that somebody murdered her. After her younger sister was brought back to Qitaihe City, her detention was extended for another 30 days when her original 15 days detention had ended. When she asked about the situation of her elder sister, she was told by the head of the detention center that her elder sister was being treated in the hospital. They thus extended the detention of the younger sister for no reason in order to cover up the truth of the incident.
$$$ 46. Gao Hua

Gao Hua, female, 31, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Baiquan County, Heilongjiang Province. She had always been very healthy since she started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. She went to the Appeals Bureau in Beijing to appeal and present the truth about Falun Dafa to the government on February 7, 2000. Five days later, she was escorted back to Heilongjiang by police and was directly put into the No. 1 Detention Center of Baiquan County together with other criminals. Because of the poor conditions in the detention center, she couldn't eat and sleep well and started having unhealthy physical symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.

A month later, the detention center discovered that Gao Hua was on the verge of death. They thus asked the Gao family to pay RMB5,000 (about US$625, 10-month wage of an average worker in China) in order to release Gao Hua on bail. A few days after Gao got out of the jail, the provincial hospital in Harbin was unable to save her, and she thus left this world.

It had only been 100 days from the time Gao was detained in Baiquan County Detention Center to the time she was persecuted to death. Within this short period of 100 days, a Dafa practitioner with a healthy mind and body was tortured to death by the authorities in the Baiquan County Detention Center. Is this how the people's government of China treat the Dafa practitioners who are among the kindest and who show the best behavior of all the citizens under all circumstances?

We Falun Dafa practitioners in Mainland China hereby call upon all kindhearted people in the world to pay close attention to what is happening to Falun Gong in China. We hope the international community and human rights organizations will urge the Chinese government to obey the universal Declaration of Human Rights, respect its own Constitution, immediately stop its inhumane persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, and immediately release all jailed practitioners.
$$$ 45. Zhang Tieyan

Zhang Tieyan, female, 29, graduate of a vocational school, worked at a Heilongjiang petroleum oil factory (Daqing City's Lama Dianhua Factory). Because Zhang Tieyan did not sign a guarantee saying she would give up Falun Dafa, on April 19, 2000, her office placed her under house arrest for 3 days. On April 21, she was sent to the Ranghu Street Detention Center for 15 days. On May 5, she was taken to the Saertu District Detention Center until 5:30 am on August 11. At that time her screams of pain could be heard; she felt like she was chocking, her four limbs were convulsing, her face turned green, her eyes turned white, and she had no pulse. The guards carried her away to the emergency room at Xincun People's Hospital at 5:50 am. The cardiograph showed a straight line, and she was determined to be without a pulse. In order to hide what was going to happen, the police took the other Falun Dafa practitioners that went to the hospital back to the detention center. It was later known that Zhang Tieyan passed away that night. Zhang Tieyan's husband, Yang Qing, is also a Falun Dafa practitioner detained at the same time. Her family's phone number is 86-459-6724361.

Just because of this Falun Dafa Practitioner's faith, she was detained for 4 months. When detained, all she ate was sorghum with salt water; this caused her body to become very weak. Adding on the sweltering heat of the summer, being in a room that was just over 10 square meters large holding 14 to 15 people, and the lack of fresh air causing breathing difficulties, she finally died. Everyday in the detention centers people get dizzy, nauseated, confused, and lose strength in their limbs because of lack of oxygen. Sometimes people faint and have to be carried away.

Falun Dafa practitioners in Daqing City are frequently arrested at will, and intentionally detained for long periods of time. Those with power relentlessly trample the Chinese constitution, law, and the will of the heavens; they do not know or believe in the consequences of doing good or evil.

We hope that the good people of the world can unselfishly show solicitude for and offer moral support to the Falun Dafa practitioners in Mainland China.
$$$ 44. Yang Weidong

Yang Weidong, male, 54, was formerly of the regiment cadre as well as director of the Yaosai Hygiene Clinic in Changsha City, Hunan Province. In 1990, after he transferred to civilian work, he became a medical inspector at the Weifang City Medical Inspection Center, which is located in the Weicheng district, and is under the jurisdiction of the city's Public Health Bureau. When Yang Weidong was at work, he was awarded the title of "model party member" on several occasions, and consecutively held the post of "Party Representative" for his work unit. Yang Weidong was a studious, responsible and honest worker. He treated people with respect, and took pleasure in helping others; he was renowned in his field as a good person.

Health and Peace of Mind Gained Through the Fa (teachings of Falun Dafa)

Before Yang Weidong began practicing Falun Gong, he was unhealthy and weak. He had a serious heart condition, severe tracheitis, gallbladder problems, and other life threatening diseases. It was extremely difficult for him to lie down to sleep, because lying down made it too difficult for him to breathe. He could only sit down to sleep, or walk around a bit in his room. After practicing Falun Gong, all his former diseases were cured without any medical treatment. Yang Weidong often talked about this with his family and other practitioners. Each time he mentioned it, he would sincerely say, with the utmost gratitude and reverence: "If I didn't practice Falun Gong, my life would have been over a long time ago. It was Falun Gong that extended my life, and it has lead my life onto a truly bright path."

A Cold Prison Cell Without Sunlight

On November 19, Yang Weidong went to Beijing to appeal the government's decision to ban Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) and label it an "illegal organization." On the morning of November 23, officers of the Nanguan police substation, in the Weicheng district, of Weifang City brought him back. He was then detained in a "room" at the Nanguan police substation. This room was actually a damp and dark prison cell located in a narrow hallway. It had a window (1 meter high, 1.5 meters wide), with no glass to keep out the cold wind. No sunlight could be seen in this cell year round. At the time of his detention, it was lightly raining, and the temperature outside was 7-8 ^oC below zero (around 20^o F), however, the temperature inside this cell was even lower than outside. The officers at the Nanguan police substation detained the men and women together and didn't allow them to leave the "room" to eat or use the restroom. Therefore, it was extremely awkward when one of them needed to go to the bathroom. Inside the cell, the cold wind blew in through the open window, and the police did not provide them with any quilt. Under these harsh conditions, Yang Weidong began to lose his health. It was so bitterly cold that he could not sleep, and had trouble breathing. His voice was weak and he could only speak in short segments. He hardly ate anything and was coughing all day long. However, the police turned a blind eye to his poor physical condition. After being detained for two days and one night, he was sent to the Weicheng detention center by his work unit (the Public Health Bureau) on the evening of November 24, and was sentenced to administrative detention.

Seriously Ill While in Detention

Since he came to the detention center, Yang Weidong's health deteriorated even faster, he could barely walk and could not sleep through the night. He could not eat much and only drank gruel on a few occasions. He was coughing violently everyday and could not breath whenever he lay down. Once the detention center required that each individual be photographed, but by that time Yang Weidong could no longer get up from bed, so they had to take a picture of him in his sickbed. Seeing his poor health, the guard only asked him a few questions, but didn't take any further action to help him.

Through an amazingly display of willpower, Yang Weidong finished his 15-day administrative detention. However on December 8, his work unit sent him to the male ward of the psychiatric department in Kangfu hospital, against his will. After Yang Weidong was released from the detention center, he refused to be committed to the Kangfu hospital, however his work unit simply ignored him and forcefully committed him against his wishes. In addition, they sent a guard to watch over him, prohibit him from studying the Fa (teachings of Falun Dafa) or practice the exercises. Once detained in a ward for psychiatric patients, his health deteriorated even further.

By then, Yang Weidong had already developed liver edema, and his lower limbs were swollen. Even the doctor in Kangfu Hospital was frightened upon seeing his condition. He told the guard, who watched Yang Weidong: "He is in a state of physical collapse, how come you do not send him home? His illness is already incurable..." Yang Weidong's son was working in the psychiatric department of the same hospital, and his office happened to be right across from the ward where Weidong was being held. Because of this, Weidong's son was ridiculed in his workplace, and his fianc�e left him.

After November, the hospital realized that Yang Weidong was dying, so they asked his family to take him home. After five or six days, on the evening of December 25, Yang Weidong passed away.

After this, the Nanguan Police Substation immediately declared that Yang Weidong's death was caused by his practice of Falun Gong and used this lie to frame Falun Gong.

Dafa Practitioner Yang Weidong Persecuted to Death in Mental Hospital (03/30/01) $$$ 43. Li Faming

Li Faming, male, 52, was formerly from Longxi County, Gansu Province. He was a worker in the North West Aluminum Processing Factory (State Operated Factory 113), a communist party member, and an ex-soldier. He started practicing Falun Gong in May 1998. From then on, he became a healthy person, a good worker who worked hard without complaint, and a good communist party member.

On February 12, 2000, the police illegally entered and searched his home, confiscated his color TV and detained him for 31 days. According to his own account, he was beaten when the police ransacked his home.

At around 4:40 pm on August 10, 2000, three police officers took Li Faming home from his job. At 5:30 pm, he fell from his own apartment on the forth floor. He died fifteen minutes after arriving at a hospital. When he fell from the building, all three police officers were present at the scene. At the time, someone from outside his apartment overheard the three police officers yelling loudly and abusively at Li Faming. In reply, Li Faming spoke only one sentence: "I am a Falun Gong practitioner." These were his last words.

The exact circumstances of his death cannot be verified, but the three police officers present at the scene clearly knew what really happened.

According to an insider, the police suspected that Li Faming was connected to the distribution of Falun Gong materials.

After the death of Li Faming, the officials from his factory and the police department held an emergency meeting. They mad a strong statement that his death was due to "committing suicide to escape punishment." They forbade Falun Gong practitioners to hold any memorial service. Within 24 hours, his body was secretly cremated.

We hope that all people, around the world, who support justice will investigate the human rights conditions in Long Xi County, Gansu Province, China, and the incident of Falun Gong practitioner Li Faming being persecuted to death for practicing Falun Gong.

Liu Yufeng, male, 64, Han nationality, retired worker, party member, a villager from the Xiaozetou Village of Songcun Town, Wendeng City, Shandong Province.

Liu Yufeng was an honest and upright man. He was openhearted and publicly recognized as a good person. After practicing Falun Dafa, his diseased body regained health.

On the morning of July 18, 2000, Liu was arrested and detained in the Wendeng Detention Center because he took part in the group practice at Huilong Mountain. On July 19, the detention center called Liu's daughter telling her to bring 200-300 Yuan for her father's medical treatment. On July 22, the Wendeng Detention Center called his daughter again, and told her to take Liu home. When Liu was carried out by his son-in-law, he could neither move nor speak. He was in a coma. Around 10:00 am of July 22, Liu was taken home; at 7:00 am on July 23, he died.

Autopsy by legal medical experts showed that, extravagated blood was discovered in his right eye-rim. There were cuts and bruises on his face, and black and blue marks left by electric shocks on his throat, chest, and legs. The skin had begun to separate from the body, and the soft tissue below the skin was damaged. It was discovered that the second, third, and forth ribs on both the right and left sides were fractured. The upper one-third of the sternum was broken. His whole body was covered with bruises and injuries; it was too horrible to look at! This once high-spirited elderly gentleman unclearly died from torture.

Li Baoshui was a human resources manager at the Bureau of Labor in the City of Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, a party member, and a model worker for many years. Whether at home, in society, or among friends, he was known as a good person.

Li Baoshui learned Falun Dafa in 1994 at the Guangzhou Falun Dafa Seminars taught by Mr. Li Hongzhi. He naturally became the one of the contact persons of Falun Dafa practice in Daqing City. He was a deeply trusted director of Falun Dafa assistance center.

Without a warrant or any other documents and under no lawful procedures, Li Baoshui was arrested and held in the Daqing Detention Center on July 22, 1999. He was separated for so called "formal investigation".

On the morning of July 26, 1999, the authorities said that Li Baoshui had asked his family to bring some water. Li Baoshui's wife saw that her husband had become thin and pallid from the mistreatment, and he could hardly open his eyes. But before Li Baoshui's wife could calm down after she went home, the police nervously called and told her to quickly come back. By then, young 39-year-old Li Baoshui was already dead on the cold cement floor in the police station.

Mr. Li Baoshui had left us for over a year now. His family could not find anywhere to inquire about his death. No one will see or answer them.

Shao Shisheng was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Zhuanghe City of Liaoning Province. He was beaten to death in late July of this year.

In Prison, Dafa Practitioner Xiao Yanglong Was Persecuted to Death

Mr. Xiao Yanglong, a former teacher of the Dongxiang Town Middle School, Pingtan County, Fujian Province, had been persisting in practicing Falun Dafa. He also taught more than 10 of his students to learn Falun Gong and passed on Dafa books and materials to other students in the school. He wrote letters to government leaders to explain the real situation of Falun Gong and demanded fair treatment of those who practice Falun Gong and are true practitioners. He firmly believed in Dafa and was preparing to go to Beijing to validate Dafa. Enforcers from the local police station and People's Court detained him and sentenced him to 4 years in prison. After July 2000, Xiao Yanglong went on a hunger strike to protest his treatment. On July 22, 2000, this strong-willed man died, due to exhaustion and weakness. He was only 32 years old.

On July 28, 2000, a Falun Dafa practitioner died at the Third Detention Center of Nanchang City. Her name was Liu Fengchun, and she was 56 years old. When some of her friends went to figure out how she died, they met with terror and threats, and were detained for seven hours. People would like to ask the authorities, "What have they done wrong? Is it illegal to ask about our friend's death? Aren't you intentionally breaking the law?"

No matter how much the police lie, cover up, pressure, or block the news, the truth cannot be concealed. Below is the truth about Liu Fengchun's 7 days in jail.

At 9:00 PM on July 21, police from the Zigu Street Police Station all of a sudden burst into Liu Fengchun's home. After ransacking her house, Liu Fengchun was taken away without reason. Before she even knew why she was arrested, she was taken to Nanchang City's Third Detention Center, and then rushed to the Number Eighteen Prison for Women.

Because she was not able to appeal, Liu Fengchun began a hunger strike the second day. Due to high temperatures at the prison (37-38^o C or over 100^o F), she was showing signs of great pain after 3 days of not eating or drinking. Her inmates immediately reported her situation to the commissar and a doctor. The two of them stood at a window watching, and when the others in the cell said Liu Fengchun needed an infusion, they began to curse them. They cursed the inmates for a half an hour until their throats were dry and faces were covered with sweat, they then just walked away.

On the three days from July 25 to 27, though Liu Fengchun's situation was getting worse, out of fright of the commissar, the inmates dared not to bring up her situation.

At 3:00 AM on July 28, Liu Fengchun's face turned white and her breathing became very shallow. The inmates were so scared they were not concerned with the consequences and yelled, "Get a cadre." After a long time an overweight guard came over. The inmates told him that Liu Fengchun's situation was serious and she needs immediate help. This guard walked off with impatience and paying no attention.

At 4:00 AM, the inmates banged on the cell door. That guard yelled, "Quit making a racket, she won't die, wait till it's light out!"

This attitude angered everyone there. They began to bang even harder on the cell door breaking the silence of the night. Finally three cadres came, they did not enter the cell but stood far away saying that only the commissar can take care of this. Only after the commissar awoke was a call made for emergency help.

At 4:30 AM, an ambulance came. When Liu Fengchun was being taken away, she had already stopped breathing.

Liu Fengchun was a retired teacher at a traffic school. She was a kind-hearted person, and just because she practiced Falun Dafa, she was trampled on in this way. When her friends inquired about her death, they were detained for 7 hours as well. Where's the justice in this?

If these people had even the slightest bit of goodness in their hearts, Liu Fengchun would not have died. Why would a cadre of the government go so far as to see life as a game and not help those who are dieing?

Our government is not only indifferent to all of this, but they want to cover up the facts. Aren't there enough atrocities like this all over China. We call on the government to sternly punish the evil, release all imprisoned Falun Dafa practitioners, and give Falun Dafa practitioners their just and lawful rights.

In early October 1999, Li Guihua went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. In late October, she was arrested. While waiting to be sent back to Chongqing, she died in the custody of the Chongqing Representative Agency in Beijing. After her husband was called to Beijing to identify her body, it was then cremated. In memory of Li Guihua, her husband had his picture taken in front of Tiananmen Square while holding her ashes. The Public Security Bureau threatened her husband, and ordered him to keep quiet about her death. Therefore, her cause of death is still unknown.

On June 17, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was intercepted by police at the Dongzhimen Bus Station, along with seven other Falun Gong practitioners. After taken back to the local police station, six of them were brutally beaten by police. Among them, Gong suffered the most. Medical examination in the Yukou Clinic afterwards showed that the bridge of her nose was broken. Gong's family members and local villagers requested the police to allow her to go home for recovery. In order to cover up the brutality, the police sent Gong and the other practitioners to the county detention center instead. To defend their rights, Gong and other practitioners went on a hunger strike, which were the only means available.

Around 8pm of June 25, 2000, the guards force-fed Gong through the nose, despite the fact that her nose was injured. After coming back to the cell, Gong's face looked pale. She said repeatedly that her chest felt numb and she suspected that the guards might have falsely inserted the feeding tube into her trachea during the force-feeding. About 10 minutes later, she suddenly lost consciousness. Her inmates then called the guards, but nobody answered. After a while when Gong regained her consciousness, the guards finally came over and moved Gong out of the cell for emergency treatment. She was sent back on the morning of June 26, 2000. Because her health condition looked very bad, her inmates asked the guards many times to give her a medical examination. She was then called out, and came back in the afternoon. But there was no sign of improvement in her health that night. On the morning of June 27, 2000, the inmates urged the guards to give her another medical checkup, because her health kept deteriorating. Around 10am, the detention center clinicians agreed to send Gong to the hospital. Around 9pm that evening, Gong Baohua was announced dead in the hospital.

Because of the unfair treatments against her, An went to the Beijing Public Security Ministry to appeal on May 21, 2000. She was escorted back and detained in the Education Committee Guest House. On May 24, An was given 15 days of administrative detention. An refused to sign the paperwork for her detention, and declared that she would reserve her right to appeal. On May 25, the second day of her detention, An was cuffed with a special type of handcuff nicknamed "bull's nose," for refusing to copy the rules of the detention center. The detention center gave her an emergency infusion, which had no effect. At 10pm, An was sent to the County Hospital. At 7:30am of June 11, 2000, An left this world.

Wang was a retired official of Weifang Hardware Store. Wang started to practice Falun Gong in 1995, and was a former contact person of the Falun Gong assistance center in Weifang. He had been under surveillance since July 20, 1999. In March 2000, he was detained for writing to the National People's Congress about Falun Gong issues. While in custody, he was detained in the hot and humid cell 24 hours a day, and sometimes, he was forced to do hard labor. At 2am on July 12, 2000, he left this world. His wife did not receive the notice of his death until 1pm that afternoon. More surprisingly, in order to cover up the truth, the police forced his family to have his body cremated before the cause of his death was identified.

He was beaten to death by the county government of Dayang Village on March 25, 2000, for refusing to recant his belief in Falun Gong.

On February 21, 2000, the Dayang Village government illegally detained Wang Xingtian and 11 other Falun Gong practitioners in the "Law Education Center," in order to prevent them from going to Beijing to appeal. After 33 days of detention, they were transferred to the Beiquanli Village government, where they were not allowed food or water.

While in custody, each practitioner was demanded to pay a deposit of 1000 Yuan plus a fine of 1000 Yuan. The practitioners were also required to write a pledge to recant. Wang firmly refused to do this.

On the noon of March 25, Wang's friends came to visit him and suggested he write the pledge and pay the money. But Wang refused to do that. Around 2-3 o'clock that day, the village government ordered some thugs to beat Wang using electric batons, police batons, etc., which left many wounds on Wang's body. A fatal wound was a hole on the back of his head. Only after Wang's family members wrote the pledge for him and paid the money, were they allowed to take Wang home. At that time, Wang already lost his consciousness, and he died at 5pm.

Death of Wang Xintai

Because Wang Xintian insisted on practicing Falun Dafa and refused to give a written promise to renounce his practice, on March 25, 2000, Li Xichun and Zhao Zhiqi from the Office of the Township conducted inhumane torture against him. They pressed a 3-inch wide wooden board against Wang's calves, applying so much pressure the board broke against his legs. They then hit him with an iron rod, including his head. They also used the iron rod to poke his chest and back. His body was soaked with blood, and was too horrible to look at. In the end, he died.

Afterwards, the chief of the Township of Dayang Zhuang, Tie Jinbo, used 150,000 yuan (about US$18,000) of public funds and "took care of the matter in private." However, Wang Xintian's family only received 75,000 yuan. No one knows where the other half of the money went.

Families are not allowed visit practitioners detained at the district detention center of Ningjin County. Whoever wants to visit his loved ones has to pay 2,000 yuan (Chinese dollars, the monthly salary of an averaged worker in cities of China is about 500 yuan); if you don't have money, you don't see your family. After 40 days, one will have to pay 3,000 yuan, 4,000 yuan or perhaps even 5,000 yuan in order to have them released. The longest time a practitioner has been detained there is 7 months.

At present, there are still 8 practitioners being held at the detention center, 6 of whom are not able to return to the families they have waiting for them. We are appealing to every conscientious person for attention and support. We hope you can help uphold justice and stop the evil.

To block the news, the police arrested 20 practitioners who knew about Yao's death.

On May 13, 2000, Mei was arrested while practicing Falun Gong exercises outside her house. She went on a hunger strike to defend her rights. On May 17, 2000, three days into her hunger strike, she was force-fed by an inmate who had no medical skills at all. Her screaming during the force-feeding suggested that she was in extreme pain. After she returned to the cell, she had a headache, and started to vomit blood that night. The guard whose surname was Sun refused to send her for emergency treatment, and said, "Never mind, she won't die. I will take the responsibility if anything happens."She died on May 23, 2000. Five practitioners who knew about her death were sent to the detention center on May 26.

In September 1999, Zhou went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.During the eight months in the detention center, he was shackled most of the time.On the morning of May 6, 2000, the ninth day of his hunger strike, he was taken to the Shuangcheng Hospital by the guards.The examination showed him in good health.On the same afternoon when he was again sent to the hospital, his pupils were dilated and he passed away.

Obviously, Zhou did not die of natural causes. His face indicated extreme pain. His eyes were wide open, so was his mouth. There were many wounds on his body and head. His fingers and toes were black. The skin on his head was red, and separable from the skull. The local communist government forced his family members to sign an agreement that Zhou died of a heart attack, which his family members refused.

Zhou was a well-known good person and official in the local area. His death shocked many people.

On March 2, 2000, Zhang was taken into custody in Huaian police station. On March 25, he was brutally beaten, which left fatal injuries to his brain. Later, he was sent to the First Hospital of Huaian City for emergency treatment, and fell into a coma. On March 30, the medical examination showed that Zhang still had weak heartbeats and breaths. Then about 50 police officers appeared, and they imposed a curfew at the hospital. Then a few officers pushed Zhang's family members and other patients around, and took Zhang, who still had heartbeats and breaths, to the crematorium. Zhang's body was cremated without the consent of his family members.
