(Minghui.org) Imprisoned Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Xiangxing, who suffered a severe head injury in detention, was forced to undergo another operation at Baoding First Hospital without his family's knowledge or consent. On the morning of August 21, his wife visited the hospital to inquire after her husband, but nobody would tell her where he was. In addition, she was beaten badly by eight guards, and subsequently sent to the emergency room.
When family members appealed to Secretary Su of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, he said, “You are not entitled to discuss this issue with me!”
According to an insider who has sympathy for the family's plight, Mr. Zheng was transferred to an undisclosed location two weeks prior. His family contacted almost all of the hospitals in Baoding City, only to find out that Mr. Zheng had undergone a second operation behind closed doors at the Baoding First Hospital on August 18. He was then sent back to prison on August 20.
The prison refused to let Mr. Zheng's wife visit him since she is also a Falun Gong practitioner. The 610 Office threatened to arrest Mr. Zheng's son if he exposed additional details concerning his father on the Internet.
At present, 16,130 local residents have signed a petition requesting Mr. Zheng's immediate release, yet the prison still insists he finish serving a 10-year term. The abusive treatment of Mr. Zheng and his family has aroused more public condemnation.
Background:
Mr. Zheng, a Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) practitioner, was illegally arrested on February 25, 2012. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on July 26 as part of the CCP's continued persecution of his faith. Mr. Zheng was sent to Baoding Prison on August 8.
On October 26, Mr. Zheng sustained a severe brain injury in prison, and received an operation at Baoding First Hospital without his family’s knowledge. The doctors removed brain tissue responsible for thinking, memory, and expression, as well as a 10-cm piece of skull on either side of the brain.
Although Mr. Zheng’s health is significantly compromised, the authorities took him back to prison on February 21, 2013. Local residents have stepped forward to sign the petition to express their indignation at Mr. Zheng's treatment, and the current number of signatures has increased to 16,130.
