(Minghui.org) This report is a follow-up to: "Mr. Zheng Xiangxing in Critical Condition after Torture in Baoding Prison" (http://en.minghui.org/html/articles/2012/11/20/136377.html).

Ms. Sun Suyun, the wife of Zheng Xiangxin, was finally allowed to see her husband at Baoding Prison, where he is currently being held, at around 3 p.m., March, 19, 2013. She brought their son with her so that he could see his father. When she arrived at the prison meeting room, she saw two inmates standing and holding Mr. Zheng. He was perspiring profusely and his whole body was shaking. He trembled as he breathed. Their son carried Mr. Zheng to a chair. They saw that his arms and legs were purple. His legs were swollen and he complained of leg pain. While Ms. Sun and her son massaged his legs, they found he was unable to straighten his knees. His leg muscles appeared to have shrunken. He had been bedridden for five months.

Mr. Zheng has become so skinny that his eyes look sunken. Ms. Sun asked to bring him better food, but the request was denied. She worries about how much longer he will stay alive.

Ms. Sun said, "He was kept in Baoding Prison for two months before the doctors opened both sides of his head. Each opening is a big as a baseball. There is nothing to protect the openings but his flesh. What if he bumps into something, making contact with the openings? He is also incontinent. He cannot care for himself. He has been transferred from the ICU at the prison hospital to a regular prison cell despite his condition! I implore members of society, the media, and lawyers to pay attention to his situation!"

Mr. Zheng was transferred from the prison ICU to a regular cell on February 21, 2012. Since then his wife has repeatedly requested the prison grant him bail for medical reasons in the hope of saving his life. The prison denied the requests, as well as her visitation rights. The prison then suddenly notified the family on March 8, 2013 that they could visit him on March 11. However, the officials changed their minds and reversed their decision. Mr. Zheng's family is very worried for his safety and health. His wife has been protesting in front of the prison, yet the prison staff keep driving her away.

Mr. Zheng Xiangxin is a Falun Gong practitioner from No. 10 Farm in Tanghai County. He owned a small appliance store. He and his wife are honest business people. They provide excellent services and offer deliveries. They are known to install appliances and make necessary adjustments until their customers are completely satisfied. Their business was very successful because of their honest and sincere service.

A group of police officers from the State Security Team and No. 10 Farm Police Station arrested Mr. Zheng on the morning of February 20, 2012 because he practices Falun Gong. The officers also looted a lot of home appliances during the arrest. The local people called the officers bandits. Thousands of local people have signed a petition to demand the local authorities release Mr. Zheng because he is locally known as a great man. His plight has raised a lot of attention in China and overseas. Nevertheless, Mr. Zheng was sentenced to ten years in Baoding Prison. After two short months, he was sent to a hospital for an unexplained injury and had brain surgery without any written consent from his family. His life and health are in danger.

When his family was finally notified and hurried to Baoding No. 1 Central Hospital on October 28, 2012, the physician explained to his family that they had removed the part of the brain responsible for language, sight and memory. They didn't think he would survive. They suspected that he would be in a vegetative state even if he should wake up. They took several scans and determined he was brain dead because his brain was black in the image. They saw only a sparkle of light. They explained that the sparkle represents living brain cells. Yet Mr. Zheng gradually awakened after 10 days. No doctor could explain how he could wake up when the scan showed he was basically brain dead.

As Mr. Zheng was becoming increasingly conscious, the hospital cut his wind pipe open because of a lung infection. He lost the ability to speak as a result. Ms. Sun asked him to nod for yes and shake his head for no. Mr. Zheng nodded to acknowledge that he understood her. Next his son asked if he recognized him. He nodded. Ms. Sun then asked him to raise his legs and he did. He wanted to speak, but he was unable to.

The hospital stitched up his windpipe after nearly four weeks. However, he became foggy-headed. Sometimes he didn't seem to recognize his family. When his wife asked him where his wife was, he answered that she was busy. When his son delivered food to him at the hospital, he asked Mr. Zheng if he knew who he was. Mr. Zheng said he was a food delivery man.

Mr. Zheng lost part of the nerves in his eyes and was unable to move one of his eyes. That eye stays shut now. He can hardly see with his other eye.

Before he was transferred back to prison, he was kept in bed and not allowed any physical therapy. The only good news is that he has regained some weight. However, both sides of the openings on his head look sunken because the doctors did not patch the removed skull.

Mr. Zheng has become increasingly skinny. His family saw red spots on his chest in the previous visits. When his family saw him on March 19, he was watched by two inmates who claimed he was having physical therapy.
