Falun Gong practitioners in Vancouver gathered at Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza on July 12 to do the exercises together and raise awareness of the 21-year-long suppression of Falun Gong in China.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intensified the persecution of Falun Gong in the first half of 2020, which recorded 2,654 practitioners being arrested and 2,659 harassed for their faith. Among these practitioners, 1,687 had their homes ransacked. At the time of writing, 1,246 (47%) of the arrested practitioners remain in custody.
Los Angeles: 21 Years of Peacefully Standing Up to the Chinese Regime and Protesting Against Persecution of Faith
On Sunday, July 12, 2020, practitioners in Los Angeles held an information event at Santa Monica Pier to tell people about the benefits of practicing Falun Gong and how it's persecuted in China. They hope to put an end to the persecution by raising awareness of the atrocities carried out against the spiritual practice.
Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto held a press conference in front of the Chinese Consulate on July 14, 2020, calling for the release of Falun Gong practitioner Lin Shenli’s sister Lin Qiupeng, who has been held and abused in the Changning District Detention Center of Shanghai.
"The terror of the persecution never for one moment made me waver in my conviction. I had absolutely no hesitation in joining fellow practitioners who thronged to Tiananmen Square from all over the country to stand up for Dafa."
