(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Dongmei, employee of Tangyuan Farm in Heilongjiang Province, filed a criminal complaint against former dictator Jiang Zemin on June 18, 2015.

She was arrested in 2012 and suffered tremendous mental pressure while being held in a brainwashing center for 81 days.

Ms. Chen was arrested again in 2014 and released two months later. Her release was not the end of the abuse. Her employer called her husband and threatened him, insisting that he monitor his wife's actions. Her family was placed under extreme pressure due to the arrest and harassment from the authorities.

Below are the details of the family's ordeal.

“Hell on Earth”

Ms. Chen was arrested on September 3, 2012 by the 610 Office. The officers lied to her, saying that she would be taken for some “training sessions.” Five hours later, she reached Qinglongshan Brainwashing Center. The first few words she heard from the officers there after she arrived was “this is hell on earth.”

Ms. Chen and many other practitioners were forced to write “guarantee statements” every day to slander the founder of Falun Gong, causing some of them to suffer a mental breakdown.

She also had samples of her blood drawn and urine collected. Ms. Chen lost weight because of the mental torment. Her family was worried sick for her.

Filing a Complaint Against Brainwashing Center

Ms. Chen entrusted her lawyer to file a complaint against the 610 Office on November 13, 2013.

She and her lawyer went to the procuratorate on January 2, 2014 to submit her complaint. She also described her tribulations to the judge who received her complaint. The judge asked her to return home and wait for further updates.

On the evening of January 15, 2014, Ms. Chen was at her relative's house when agents from the 610 Office came and took her to the police department. They interrogated her as to why she went to the procuratorate to submit her complaint. They forcibly took her photo and withdrew samples of her blood before she was released near midnight.

Personal Experience of the Jiansanjiang Incident

Ms. Chen is one of the practitioners involved in the Jiansanjiang Incident, in which seven Falun Gong practitioners and four of their lawyers were arrested in a hotel after seeking the release of imprisoned friends and clients in the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Center in Jiansanjiang. (The arrests and subsequent abuse in detention have come to be referred to as the “Jiansanjiang Incident.”).

On March 20, 2014, Ms. Chen and her lawyer went to the Qinglongshan brainwashing center and saw other practitioners and their families waiting in the cold. They were waiting for three more practitioners to be released.

While waiting, personnel from the police department came and took video of them. Everyone left after waiting for two hours. While on their way back, seven cars were following them. The group decided to find a hotel to stay the night before going to the procuratorate the next day.

The next morning, Ms. Chen went to the lawyer's room and saw that a few practitioners were already there, waiting for the lawyer to return. Minutes later, several plainclothes police barged in, instructing them not to move and started a body search. She saw a practitioner being dragged out of the room with her jacket pulled up over her head.

Several practitioners including Ms. Chen were roughed up by the police while being taken from the hotel to the police department.

While being interrogated, Ms. Chen and other practitioners tried explaining the facts about Falun Gong to the police. They were locked in a very cold room that night.

Two days later, on March 22, 2014, the practitioners were taken to the hospital for physical exams. In the afternoon, they were taken to another detention center but as their blood pressure was high, the detention center refused to accept them.

Ms. Chen was interrogated multiple times in her 14 days of detention. Her personal belongings were withheld at the police department.

Ms. Chen and three other practitioners were handcuffed on April 5, 2014 and taken to another hospital for a thorough medical checkup. She was later detained for 30 days.

The practitioners suspect that all the physical exams were connected to the regime's practice of forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience.

Ms. Chen's Family's Ordeal

Ms. Chen returned to Tangyuan Farm on May 5, 2014. Her husband and two relatives had come to the detention center to take her home.

After she returned home, she was bedridden for five days, unable to get up.

Later she learned that her lawyer had been arrested and beaten, leaving him with four broken ribs. She confirmed this one month later, when she could finally call her lawyer.

The 610 Office called her husband at the end September 2014 and instructed him to monitor Ms. Chen's actions.

Later, her daughter sent her a touching message, voicing her worries and her support for her: “Mom, you know that Dad loves you and so do I. We are worried for you, so our words are a little strong. Dad's suffering stems from being worried for you. We never stopped worrying until you were released. Do not blame us for caring about you and don't feel pressured. I've slept better ever since you've been back and Dad stopped drinking too. We did not stop you from seeking justice and will never turn our backs on you. I support you and love you a lot. Dad doesn't support you speaking out, but he loves you more than anything. I understand that standing up for freedom is important to you. Maybe many years from now, you will be praised for your courage and you can hold your head up high.”

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
