More on the Immolation on Tiananmen

When the persecution began on July 20, 1999, 70 to 100 million Falun Gong practitioners were living by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Their co-workers, friends, family members, and government officials (many of whom also practiced Falun Gong) knew that these were truly good people. Nevertheless, Jiang Zemin boasted that the Chinese Communist Party would "eradicate Falun Gong within three months" and began a massive CCP propaganda campaign to demonize Falun Gong. Despite the ensuing mass arrests and imprisonment of practitioners, the Chinese population as a whole was not that enthusiastic about this persecution, and by the end of the first year, Falun Gong was not even close to being stamped out. When they saw that their campaign of repression was not proceeding as planned, Jiang and his accomplices contrived a propaganda stunt to turn the masses against Falun Gong.

On January 23, 2001, they staged what came to be known as the "Tiananmen Self-Immolation Incident." On this day, five people posing as Falun Gong practitioners set themselves on fire in broad daylight on Tiananmen Square. A 12-year-old girl was among the group, and she too was severely burned. Later, investigators determined that before the event occurred, the stage was carefully set: the cameras, police, firefighters and CCP reporters were all put in place in advance, so when the match was lit, the horrific scene was quickly recorded and broadcast to the entire world in record time. But as it turned out, the CCP badly bungled the whole affair, leaving so much incontrovertible evidence of their treachery that the stunt eventually became a huge embarrassment to the CCP itself.
