(Minghui.org) Several Falun Gong practitioners are currently incarcerated in Jilin Province Women’s Prison for their faith and subjected to brutal torture. Among them, Ms. Li Cong, in her 40s, is now unable to take care of herself; Ms. Song Yanqun was often beaten and is now emaciated; and Ms. Yu Wenyan and Ms. Zhang Qiaoxiu have been hospitalized.
Ms. Li Cong Loses Ability to Take Care of Herself
Nong’an County resident Ms. Li Cong, in her 40s, was sentenced to six years in prison in 2019 and taken to Jilin Province Women’s Prison in April of the same year. She was tortured at the outset while still in the Admission Team because she maintained that she had never committed a crime and refused to be treated as a prisoner.
The captain of the Admission Team, Zhao Wei, personally orchestrated the persecution of Ms. Li and ordered that she be held in a separate cell. Zhao transferred three inmates with experience in torturing Falun Gong practitioners from the 8th Ward, including Li Jing and Ding Ling, to monitor Ms. Li Cong.
The inmates forced Ms. Li to sit on a small stool only a few inches high and beat her while she was handcuffed to a bed. They tortured her every night while other inmates slept. The sound of the beatings, shouts of verbal abuse, and Ms. Li’s screams often woke up the inmates on the same floor and made some of them too traumatized to fall back to sleep. Zhao also placed a “death bed” next to Ms. Li and threatened to use it to torture her.
After two months in the Admission team, Ms. Li was assigned to the 8th Ward, designated to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The 8th Ward is housed in a four-story building, with one cell on each floor – Cells 111, 211, 311, and 411 – used to specifically target practitioners who refuse to renounce their belief.
Ms. Li was held in Cell 211. The prison guards selected the most vicious inmates from the 8th Ward to persecute her, including Zheng Dan, Cha Guang, Tian Xiaoyun, Yang Yali, Li Mingzhu, and Li Minghua. Ms. Li had to sit on a small stool until midnight every day, and the inmates often beat her. Tian Xiaoyun and Li Minghua often dragged Ms. Li to the bathroom to verbally abuse her, pour cold water on her and open the window to freeze her in winter.
Because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, in the summer of 2021 Ms. Li was transferred to Cell 311 for further persecution. Inmates Sun Yingjie, Lyu Jinmiao and Zheng Dan were the main ones who monitored and tortured her. Ms. Li was subjected to similar torture as in Cell 211, and all the inmates on the second and third floors could often hear her shouting “Falun Dafa is good” while she was being tortured.
A month later, guards Qian Wei and Zhao Xin called out these inmates to dress them down for their failure to “transform” Ms. Li. They suggested that the inmates pinch the sensitive part of Ms. Li’s inner thighs. Ms. Li did not give in, even in as the torture intensified. The guards repeateldy used her loud shouts as an excuse to lock her up in a solitary cell for three months. When Ms. Li was let out of the solitary cell for the second time, she could no longer walk, and had to be carried to her cell. Now she has been transferred to the second floor and her current situation is unknown.
Subjected to Long-term Beatings, Ms. Song Yanqun Is Emaciated and Incoherent
Shulan City resident Ms. Song Yanqun, sentenced to 12 years in prison, experienced cruel torture in Heizuizi Women’s Prison. In protest of the abuse, she staged a hunger strike for more than a year. Ms. Song became mentally disordered and was on the verge of death when she was released. However, she was sentenced to three and a half years again in 2021 and imprisoned in Jilin Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Song was assigned to Cell 311 in the 8th Ward. She was forced to sit on a small stool until midnight every day, and get up at 3:00 a.m. Inmates Zheng Dan, Sun Yingjie, and Lyu Jinmiao were assigned to monitor and torture her. Zheng Dan often beat Ms. Song and her face was bruised and battered. Moreover, she was not allowed to buy daily necessities or extra food, while the prison never provided enough food. As a result, she became emaciated with a sallow complexion.
Later, Ms. Song was transferred to Cell 310, under inmates Guo Lihua and Yue Dongmei. Once, Guo stuffed a toilet brush into Ms. Song’s mouth because she practiced the Falun Gong exercises.
Ms. Song is currently detained on the second floor of the 8th Ward, and her situation is as concerning as Ms. Li’s.
More Cases
Ms. Yu Wenyan, a Huadian City resident, was sentenced to seven years in prison, which was her third term for practicing Falun Gong. She is also held in the 8th Ward, Cell 211. The inhuman torture and humiliation in prison quickly destroyed her health and she has been hospitalized.
Ms. Zhang Qiaoxiu, from Tonghua City, was tortured brutally in the 8th Ward for not giving up her faith. She went on a hunger strike several times and was hospitalized due to malnutrition. However, she was taken back to the 8th Ward for continued torture shortly after her condition improved.
Ms. Zhang Qiaoxiu’s sister, Ms. Zhang Qiaolei, was also imprisoned on the third floor of the 8th Ward. They were both often beaten and verbally abused for upholding their faith. The inmates tortured them by choking them and pouring water down their throats. Both are under “strict control” now.
Ms. Jin Min, a Changchun City resident, is being held in Cell 311 of the 8th Ward. Her health has declined quickly and inmate Sun Yingjie forced her to take medicine. At the same time, the prison officials demanded that her family pay for her treatment.
Ms. Fu Guihua Tortured to Death in Less Than Two Months in Prison
Ms. Fu Guihua was taken to Jilin Province Women’s Prison on May 27, 2021. She was first imprisoned on the first floor of the 8th Ward. Two weeks later, because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, prison captain Qian Wei transferred her to Cell 310 of the 8th Ward, a strictly controlled cell, where she was treated as an important target to be “transformed.” They were unsuccesful after 43 days.
To escalate the persecution, Qian put Ms. Fu in Cell 311 and ordered inmate Lyu Jinmiao to “work harder” on her. Ms. Fu was not allowed to sleep, drink water, or close her eyes. In just three days, she was persecuted to death, on July 25, 2021.
