(Minghui.org) Once imprisoned three times for a total of 14 years for practicing Falun Gong, a Beijing resident was arrested again on June 8, 2020 after being reported for distributing information about Falun Gong. Mr. Wang Zicheng is currently detained at Pinggu District Detention Center.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
In 2003, Mr. Wang and his wife, Ms. Zhang Aiping, were sentenced to five and four years in prison, respectively, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Their two young kids were deprived of parental care during their imprisonment.
Only one year after Mr. Wang was released, he was arrested again on November 29, 2009 and sentenced to 3.5 years in October 2010. At Qianjin Prison, he was forced to sit on a small stool for more than ten hours each day without moving. After 14 days of such torture, his buttocks festered; his legs became numb and lost feeling; and his feet were swollen and had tremendous pain.
The prison doctors determined that the long-time sitting caused severe damage to Mr. Wang's sciatic nerve, which resulted in numbness in his legs. After his condition later deteriorated and he lost the ability to walk, the guards sent him to the prison hospital. He was injected with unknown drugs for two weeks. He began to experience memory loss and sharp pain in his head. His blood pressure also increased. The physical discomfort left him unable to sleep at night.
Despite repeated requests from his family, the prison refused to release him on medical parole. When Mr. Wang was released in May 2013 after serving a full term, he still had some difficulty walking.
Upon returning home, he resumed practicing Falun Gong and his legs gradually recovered.
Five months later, Mr. Wang and his wife were arrested on October 29, 2013 while distributing Falun Gong literature outside a middle school. Mr. Wang was sentenced to 5.5 years and Ms. Zhang to 4.5 years in August 2014.
Mr. Wang was released in April 2019, only to be arrested again a year later.
