Mr. Wang Zicheng is from the Pinggu District of Beijing. Since October 2010, he has had limited mobility after being made to sit absolutely still on a small stool for long hours in Qianjin Prison over a period of months.

He was arrested in Beijing on November 29, 2009, while distributing materials containing important facts about Falun Gong. He was beaten for 40 minutes until he passed out because he refused to give the arresting officers his name and address. He was detained at a local detention center for 11 months before he was sentenced to three and a half years Qianjin Prison in Beijing.

Starting on October 15, 2010, he was made to sit still on a small plastic stool for up to 15 hours a day. He developed horrible sores on his buttocks two weeks later. His legs became numb and were painfully swollen. According to the prison physician, Mr. Wang's sciatic nerve was damaged, which caused him to lose the feeling in his legs.

The prison continued to torture him for months. Mr. Wang eventually lost mobility entirely and had to rely on personal assistance.

The abuse continued after he was transferred to the prison hospital. He was injected with unknown drugs for two weeks. After that, he experienced severe headaches, memory loss, and insomnia. His blood pressure spiked to 170 over 120 mmHg.

His family demanded an explanation from wardens Duan Bingchuan and Xue Yingque as to Mr. Wang's loss of mobility, but they claimed it was caused by pinched nerves in the neck.

The prison eventually agreed to have Mr. Wang examined again at the family's insistence. The results showed that Mr. Wang's neck was perfectly normal. The wardens refused to release Mr. Wang on medical parole and told his family that they were free to file a complaint.

Mr. Wang still had limited mobility when he was finally released in May 2013.

This is the second time Mr. Wang has been imprisoned for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. He was discriminated against because he was a Falun Gong practitioner and fired from his job at the Panfeng Hotel in Beijing in late 2000. He was arrested in 2003 and sentenced to the Qianjin Prison for five years where he endured a litany of torture and abuse.
