Falun Gong Press Statement At Global Candlelight Vigil

This evening we gather to remember the 192 individuals who have died at the hands of the Chinese government in its persecution of a peaceful spiritual practice called Falun Gong. All around the world Falun Gong practitioners and supporters sit in silence as do we, before candles, to remember those whose lives have been cut short due to a government's desire to crush a faith. They gather in Geneva, Paris, Copenhagen, Brussels, Gothenburg, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C., and many other towns and cities.

With Extreme Sadness We Painfully Mourn Practitioner Liu Lanxiang's Death by Persecution

On April 11, 2001, a piece of shocking news was spread: Liu Lanxiang, who had been missing for several days, was persecuted to death by debased individuals from the Lanzhou City police unit. Here are the details: at about 8:20pm on April 3, Liu Lanxiang and other practitioners went out to distribute Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials. She did not come back after that and was missing. On the second and third day, other practitioners inquired all over, but they could not get any information regarding her whereabouts. On April 11, Liu Lanxiang' family suddenly received a message from the Lanzhou City police stating that, "Liu Lanxiang has died after failed emergency treatment." Nobody can believe how a woman in good health and normal psychological condition could suddenly die and be declared "dead after a failed rescue attempt," after several days' stay at the police station.

All practitioners, "reformed" or not, were forced to attend the "class" at the detention center to be forcibly "reformed." About 12 practitioners from Houji Town were forced to attend.
