Jiang Zemin makes every effort to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China. One of his methods is the "transformation class," which forces Falun Gong practitioners to inhumane mental and psychological abuses. It is ironic that Jiang Zemin is eager to "transform" all Falun Gong practitioners in China but refuses overseas practitioners admittance into Chinese Embassy-run "transformation classes." It is obvious that the overseas campaigns are directed at non-practitioners and intend to garner support for the anti-Falun Gong opinion.

There are always guards at the entrances of the Embassies' "transformation classes" that immediately inform Falun Gong practitioners who might show up that the public forum is temporarily a private gathering. To book a meal ticket with the Embassy over the phone, you have to disclose if you are a Falun Gong practitioner. If you are, it will be very difficult to purchase a ticket. If and when you overcome the difficulties and finally enter the conference hall, officials will drive you out of the hall and claim that your presence is a leak in "defense work." Embassy officials have even been known to drive out reporters who happen to see Falun Gong practitioners practicing the exercises when they peered out of a window during a press conference. Chinese officials who are familiar with China's state-run press and the "official party line" might think these tactics are well within the bounds of propriety.

What on earth makes them afraid to face Falun Gong practitioners? The answer is quite simple, they feel guilty and without the strong arm of the party-state backing them up, they have no confidence. Without the freedom to wantonly arrest, beat and detain the masses, without the power to expel people from their workplace or school and implicate their family members and relatives, without soldiers, police and spies to willfully order about, without the powerful state-run propaganda tools such as newspapers, radio broadcasts and TV stations, without the China-style "human rights" where everyone from political bureaus to neighborhood committees must declare his or her political position, and without the labor camps and mental hospitals which have been dubbed "hell on the earth," they have lost the power to arouse and mobilize overseas Chinese. Consequently, they have lost the courage to face a group of peaceful practitioners.

Being an ambassador of a powerful country that has a population of 1.3 billion, Li Zhaoxing chose to enter the reception hall from the kitchen's rear door and not to enter from the main door where some Falun Gong practitioners waited. He felt guilty. Those practitioners had no knives, guns or batons in hand. They simply wanted to rectify the libel and slander. Was he afraid that the practitioners might make trouble? No. What he is really afraid of is the hard evidence that proves Jiang Zemin's campaign against Falun Gong is unfounded. Jiang has pushed thousands of innocent people away from the Party for his own selfish gain. His actions have no just cause and have already accumulated massive bloody debts. Lacking any conclusive evidence for his outlandish lies, he has nevertheless ordered officials to cover up the blemishes and flaunt superiority. Practitioners always invite the Embassy officials to attend Falun Gong forums; their offers are frank and sincere and they do not fear that the officials might make trouble. The officials are clearly the ones who harbor fear.

Jiang Zemin is eager to ask the Embassies to sow dissension among the overseas Chinese; he seeks overseas support for his illegitimate and poorly-supported persecution campaign. He hopes to protect himself with this support. He cannot count on non-Chinese; they are not reliable for his cause. He wants the Chinese living abroad and he wants them to write slanderous articles to be imported to the mainland. These are capable of "changing a sesame seed into a watermelon" because they are used to purport that the world supports the persecution of Falun Gong. There are problems with these articles, however. Xinhua News, the most powerful and notorious state-run news agency in China, must first modify them, because as forthcoming as some conspiring overseas Chinese are, they are not the same as those mainlanders who have completely conformed to Jiang. For instance, if there are Falun Gong practitioners at the conference, won't the lies be exposed? Moreover, as they are overseas Chinese, they have been tarnished by "mental contamination of bourgeois liberalism." How could these overseas conspirators "transform" the mainland Chinese if they have seen Falun Gong practitioners clarify the truth? It is no surprise that Embassies have been known to cancel meetings with Chinese associations because too many Falun Gong practitioners show up.

Jiang Zemin's criminal acts have extended to countries around the world. Some governments have closely followed Jiang Zemin's escalating campaign and taken note of unlawful activities committed by Chinese Embassies in their own countries. Whether it be a newspaper, radio or television report on Falun Gong, the Embassies attempt to interfere. The Embassies have even been known to display slanderous materials in demonstration areas where practitioners have previously registered. It is difficult to tell whether they are ignorant of the law or if they have forsaken the basic dignity of a diplomat to simply vent their personal resentment!

In contrast to the officials who run "transformation classes" in China, many Embassy officials carry out their anti-Falun Gong tasks self-consciously. It is conceivable that the Embassies could successfully fulfill their duties if they held the propaganda seminars regularly and circulated more slanderous articles that were up to Xinhua's standards. But in reality, can they transform any Falun Gong practitioners when their first priority is to run away from them at all costs? It seems that the last thing in the world they want to see is a Falun Gong practitioner! Jiang Zemin's solitary reign and his persecution of Falun Gong now come to an end. His methods have proven fruitless. His untruthful and violent actions have only confirmed his spot in history as a disgrace to the human race. We sincerely hope that those Chinese Embassy officials who are still following Jiang Zemin will think about their futures. Please do not become a victim of a political campaign! Maybe you have a long way to go, but Jiang Zemin cannot exist forever. Will yours be a name that also taints history?
