World Falun Dafa Day Celebration in Pictures
(Minghui.org) This year's World Falun Dafa Day celebration left us with indelible images of joy, tranquility, and resilience. We would like to share some of these wonderful images with our readers.
Falun Dafa practitioners from Washington DC enjoy interacting with spectators in the grand parade which took place in Manhattan on May 15, 2015. Over 8,000 practitioners participated in this parade that started near the United Nations, continued onto 42nd Street, passed by Grand Central Station and Times Square, and ended near the Chinese consulate.
Against the backdrop of the midtown Manhattan skyline and the United Nations headquarters, over 1,000 Falun Dafa practitioners from around the world form the characters “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” in Gantry Plaza State Park on May 13, 2015.
This banner traveled 3,000 miles from San Francisco to New York. Similar banners reminded medical professionals of the ongoing crimes of organ harvesting in China—killing Falun Dafa practitioners for their organs—at multiple international transplant conferences.
Every year, many practitioners in China send their best wishes for World Falun Dafa Day to the Minghui website. This is a greeting card made by two elderly practitioners in Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province.
In an environment where the persecution is still ongoing, practitioners in China also post banners in public on World Falun Dafa Day as a way of celebration. This banner pictured in Jilin Province reads “Falun Dafa is great. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is great.”
Hong Kong practitioners celebrated World Falun Dafa Day with a parade and cultural performances on May 10, 2015. Led by the Divine Land Marching Band, the Falun Dafa procession took off from Victoria Park, passed through Causeway Bay and Central, the busiest districts in town, and ended at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park.
Foley Square near New York City Hall became a global stage on May 13, 2015, when Falun Dafa practitioners showcased cultural performances by talent from across the globe. Performers from the Americas, Europe, and Asia share the same message: “Falun Dafa is good. Stop the persecution in China.” Anna Kokkonen (pictured above) from Finland performed a song she wrote, “The Golden Land.”
About World Falun Dafa Day
Mr. Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Dafa, introduced the practice to the public on May 13, 1992. The first Falun Dafa Day was celebrated on May 13, 2000, just months after the persecution began in China in July 1999. May 13 this year marks the 16th World Falun Dafa Day and the 23rd anniversary of the practice's introduction to the public.
