(Minghui.org) Canada's Maritime Provinces have joined the 16th World Falun Dafa Day celebrations by honoring Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and recognizing Falun Dafa's contributions to local communities.

The proclamations follow similar congratulations from Canadian ministers and lawmakers in Ottawa, and proclaim May 13th as local Falun Dafa Day.

Mayor Mike Savage of Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia, proclaimed “May 13, 2015 to be Falun Dafa Day, honoring Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” This year marks the sixth that Halifax has proclaimed Falun Dafa Day.

Mr. Savage stated in the proclamation, “Falun Dafa was first introduced to the world by Mr. Li Hongzhi; and has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to improving health in mind, body and spirit, and to enhancing the well-being of people from all walks of society, who follow its tenets.”

Dennis O'Keefe, Mayor of St. John’s, the capital and largest city in Newfoundland and Labrador, proclaimed May 13 as “Falun Dafa Day in St. John's.”

Acting Mayor Randy Cooper of the Town of Stratford, Prince Edward Island, stated in his letter, “I commend the Falun Dafa Association of Canada for the effort to build a more peaceful and understanding society and wish you continued success in your endeavors.”

The Mayor and the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, Canada proclaimed May as Falun Dafa Month and May13, 2015 as Falun Dafa Day.

The Regional Municipality unanimously passed a resolution recognizing Falun Dafa as “a peaceful cultivation system, following the principles of truth, benevolence, and forbearance” and its benefit of stress relief, physical health strengthening, and contribution to promoting moral standards and social stability.

Mayor Barrie E. MacMillan, Town of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and the New Glasgow UNESCO Race Relations & Anti-Discrimination Committee also sent their congratulations:

“The Town of New Glasgow is truly enriched by the diversity of our people. We celebrate with you, the Falun Dafa Association of Canada on your 23rd Anniversary and respect your peaceful efforts to uphold human rights and dignity for all.”

“May the guiding principles of Truth, Benevolence, and Forbearance shine brightly on May 13th, 2015,” he added.

In a phone call to the Falun Dafa Association of Canada, Member of Parliament Peter Stoffer of Nova Scotia sent his best wishes for the upcoming World Falun Dafa Day and expressed his support for practitioners' persistent and ongoing efforts for freedom of belief.
