(Minghui.org) Communist regime authorities have been attempting to convict Mr. She Yue for his efforts to inform the public about the persecution of Falun Gong. An attempted trial in December 2013 had adjourned due to Mr. She's precarious condition at the time, as torture in detention had rendered him critically ill. Though his condition was still severe, the Zhongshan District Court in Dalian City held another trial against Mr. She on April 15, 2014.
Just a few days after his trial, Mr. She was transferred from Dalian Detention Center to Dalian 210 Hospital for emergency treatment. As of this writing, he is believed to remain hospitalized under police guard.
On the morning of April 15, Mr. She was taken from a hospital to the Zhongshan District Court in an ambulance for a closed-door trial. He was extremely weak and couldn't stand on his own. Seeing his condition, his elderly mother suffered a heart attack and collapsed. She was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
Prior to the court hearing, Mr. She's attorney went to meet with Mr. She at the hospital, but they couldn't communicate properly due to his physical condition. His attorney couldn't hear what he said unless she put one of her ears close to his mouth. Mr. She's family thus requested that the court hearing be canceled and that the authorities release him unconditionally.
Two officers from the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee and 610 Office also went to the hospital to check on Mr. She. With full knowledge of Mr. She's severe condition, the authorities chose to proceed with the trial.
Two police officers (ID# 212154 and 210351) at the court attempted to perform a security check on Mr. She's attorney, Ms. Wang Yu, prior to the trial on April 15. When Ms. Wang refused to comply, a judge, Liang Yongguo, had court bailiffs take photos of her.
Attorney Wang said angrily, “Normal procedures clearly dictate that lawyers are not subject to security checks. You also took my photo without permission. Who authorized you to do so? Delete those photos of me!” However, the bailiffs ignored her. They then twisted Ms. Wang's arms behind her back and took away her cell phone.
Attorney Wang and Mr. She's family later went to the Minzhuguangchang Police Station in Dalian to file a complaint against the bailiffs for confiscating her cell phone. The police responded, “Normal people cannot take others' personal belongings, but it is alright for bailiffs to do so.”
Ms. Wang and Mr. She's family subsequently went to the Zhongshan District Procuratorate to file the complaint. However, they were not allowed entrance by the security guard, nor would he provide any contact information for the Procuratorate staff.
Ms. Wang and Mr. She's family then went to the reporting center of the Dalian Procuratorate, but two receptionists at the reporting center told them they would have to speak to staff from the 610 Office. When asked about investigating the court staff's illegal behavior and the legal basis for asking them to contact the 610 Office, one of the receptionists said, “There is no legal basis,” and walked away.
Local Political and Legal Affairs Committee and 610 Office staff harassed onlookers outside the court on April 15, 2014. They instructed the Minzhuguangchang Police Station to arrest two Falun Gong practitioners, Tang Lihua from Dalian, and Liu Yumei from Shandong Province. The two practitioners' homes were ransacked that evening.
Mr. She has suffered tremendously since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999. He was arrested, tortured and sentenced to prison . He was arrested again in July 2012 and a trial was scheduled on December 27, 2013 . The judge had to call an adjournment due to Mr. She's critical condition.
Mr. She and a dozen other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on July 6, 2012 due to their involvement with installing satellites dishes that receive uncensored TV programming. Ms. Zhang Guiliang was tortured to death within a month of the arrest. Practitioners Mr. Qiu Bin and Mr. Zhang Guoli and others were also tortured. Mr. Che Zhongshan, Mr. Zhu Chenggan, Mr. Wang Shouchen, Mr. Pei Zhenbo, Ms. Pan Xiuqing, Mr. Shi Zhanshun, Ms. Bai Ruyu, Mr. Yu Bo, Mr. Guo Song were illegally sentenced to prison on January 27, 2014.
