(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Qia continues to appeal regarding his illegal sentence of 3.5 years, after the Shantou Intermediate People's Court rejected his first appeal on January 13, 2014.

Mr. Wang was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison on November 1, 2013, his birthday. He is currently held at the Shantou Detention Center.

Mr. Wang was arrested without a warrant on February 23, 2013, because the police suspected that he had published several articles about the persecution accounts of practitioners on the Minghui website. They secretly held him in the Shantou Brainwashing Center.

There, officers deprived him of sleep, beat him, forced him to take unknown drugs, and threatened to jail his wife, mother, brother and take away his daughter. They tortured him for 13 days until he made a false statement declaring that he authored articles exposing crimes committed by the domestic security division of Shantou City.

During his first appearance in the Chenghai District Court in Shandou City on September 11, 2013, Mr. Wang told the officials how the police had extracted the false statement through torture. However, the court ignored the information. After the second trial on October 15, 2013, the court sentenced Mr. Wang to 3.5 years in prison on November 1, 2013.
