Mr. Wang Qia Facing Trial

(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Qia was arrested by officers from the Shantou City Domestic Security Division on February 23, 2013 and taken to a brainwashing center. He was later transferred to the Shantou Tuopu Detention Center, and his case was handed over to the Shantou Procuratorate on May 29.

Arrested and Tortured to Force a Confession

Mr. Wang was arrested at around 1:00 p.m. on February 23, 2013 by police from the Shantou and Longhu District Domestic Security Division who were secretly waiting for him at the junction of Taishan Road and Guodao Highway. They also searched his car, but didn't find anything.

Mr. Wang was then taken to the “Shantou Law School” inside the Shantou Train Station's assistance center that afternoon. Shantou Law School is actually a brainwashing center.

Immediately upon arriving at the brainwashing center, Lin Weimin, Li Dongming, Guo Xingyi, Lai Xijun and more than a dozen guards began to torture Mr. Wang in order to try to extract a confession. He was tied to a chair for over 100 hours, physically assaulted and threatened. The guards also took turns interrogating him and deprived him of sleep for five consecutive days and nights. They put unknown drugs in his food, causing him to become dizzy and lose consciousness. The guards assumed Mr. Wang was the main coordinator in his area, so they forced him to admit to the “evidence” they fabricated, which included publishing several articles on the Minghui website. They also threatened that if he didn't confess, they would arrest all of his family members, including the practitioners who have contacted him, and not release them.

Mr. Wang was transferred to the Shantou Tuopu Detention Center on March 7, 2013. There, a police officer from the Shantou Domestic Security Division told the guards to severely torture him. Mr. Wang was also constantly monitored by criminal inmates and not allowed to talk to people.

Police Claim They Will Destroy Mr. Wang's Family

More than 20 police, including officers Li Dongming, Liu Xixiong and Jin Ying from the Shantou Police Department, the Chenghai District Police Department, the local 610 Office, the local Domestic Security Division and the Fengxiang Police Station ransacked Mr. Wang's home at about 3:00 p.m. on February 23, 2013. Li Dongming said, “As long as we 'catch' Falun Gong practitioners, we must break up and destroy their families.”

Li Dongming also stated to Mr. Wang that if he doesn't retire in 10 years, he would arrest Mr. Wang's daughter, who was six years old at the time.

Mr. Wang's family went to the local police department to inquire about him and spoke to officer Li Dongming. Li threatened them, “If you ask me again, we will arrest his mother and his wife.” The police also went to another city to harass Mr. Wang's parents-in-law and brother-in-law who do not practice Falun Gong.

Mr. Wang's family hasn't been allowed to visit him since his arrest. In the beginning, the family weren't allowed to put money in his so-called “prison account” [In China, detainees are forced to pay for their own living expenses and other necessary personal items while held in detention centers, forced labor camps or prisons]. They later got permission to put some money into his account. Mr. Wang's family has hired a lawyer from Beijing to defend him.

Three Generations Persecuted

Mr. Wang's father, Mr. Wang Peiming, was a successful businessman. He began practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and followed Falun Gong's principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in his daily life and when doing business. He eventually became a volunteer in charge of a practice site in Shantou and Chenghai City. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) initiated the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Mr. Wang Peiming was one of the thousands of practitioners targeted by the CCP.

Police from the Shantou 610 Office, the Shantou Domestic Security Division, the Chenghai 610 Office, the Chenghai Domestic Security Division, the Waisha 610 Office, Waisha Police Station, and the Fengxiang Police Station collaborated together to bring Mr. Wang Peiming to the Chenghai Police Department on June 26, 2000. They interrogated and tortured him for three days and nights straight. He was later sent to Baisha Detention Center and held there for two-and-a-half years. During his detention, Mr. Wang's home and car were taken away and his shop was shut down. His car was later found to be used by police from the Waisha Police Station. Officers Chen Zhiwei and Li Dongming threatened Mr. Wang by repeatedly saying that they would kill him. The current party secretary of Chenghai City, Luo Yangpeng, also said, “We will torture you to death.”

After his two-and-a-half year term was up, Mr. Wang Peiming was held for an additional three months and forced to undergo brainwashing sessions. In order to avoid further persecution, he left home and became destitute. He passed away on September 19, 2005 at the age of 51.

Mr. Wang's mother began to practice Falun Gong when she witnessed the positive changes in her husband's behavior after he became a practitioner. She was also persecuted by the CCP after the persecution began. She was arrested on June 26, 2000 and taken to Baisha Detention Center. She was arrested for the second time on December 4, 2010 only because she was distributing DVDs of the Shen Yun program. She was then sent to Tuopu Detention Center in Shantou City. She was later sentenced to one-and-a-half years of imprisonment by a judge from the Longhu District Court in Shantou City on July 7, 2011.

Mr. Wang's grandfather, Mr. Wang Huijing, was a kind person. He was also persecuted by the CCP. He was arrested by officers from the Chenghai 610 Office, the Chenghai Police Department and the Waisha Police Station towards the end of 2000. He was then taken to the Waisha Detention Center and held there for five months. He was arrested again by over a dozen officers from the Chenghai 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, the Waisha 610 Office and the Waisha Police Station in April or May 2001. Wang Zhengde, the head of Nanshe Village, and party secretary Wang Qingming led the officers to Mr. Wang Huijing's home. He was taken to the Laiwu Brainwashing Center in Chenghai City and held for 50 days. He was persecuted to death towards the end of 2012.
