(Minghui.org) A Lanzhou City court conducted a secret trial against four Falun Gong practitioners on November 24, 2012. Lawyers and family members were deliberately not notified. The family of Mr. Wang Youjiang, one of the Falun gong practitioners, filed complaints against the court, which were rejected by the court, procuratorate and appeals office.
Mr. Wang Youjiang
Mr.Wang Youjiang was a lieutenant commander in the Signal Corps, Lanzhou Military Region. He was sentenced to prison because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Dafa. After suffering inhuman torture in Lanzhou Prison, he was unable to take care of himself upon release. Less than six months after he was released, he was arrested again in June of 2012 by police from Domestic Security of Lanzhou City, and he was interrogated. On July 30, 2012, Chengguan Procuratorate in Lanzhou issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Wang Youjiang. His family hired a lawyer to defend him, but the Chengguan District Court refused to let his lawyer see him. His family and lawyer were not notified on the day of the trial for Mr. Wang and three other practitioners, Ge Qingchun, Chen Jie, and Lu Yueling. The practitioners are being held in Lanzhou No. 2 Detention Center, still awaiting a verdict.
Wang Youjian's family filed complaints against Judges Wei Gongxin and Liu Dongyu, but nobody wants to take responsibility.
Lanzhou Intermediate People's Court refuses to accept complaint letter
On March 4th 2013, Wang's family members went to Lanzhou Intermediate People's Court to file a complaint. They tried to call the person in charge of discipline, inspection, and supervision, Liu Xiaoming, to file a complaint, but nobody picked up the phone. His family went there three consecutive days starting on March 11th, but Liu Xiaoming still did not pick up the phone. His family went there on March 18th and handed over a letter of complaint. One week later they went to the court again, and finally met Liu Xiaoming, but he told them to go to the Chengguan District Court and look for director Zheng.
The family went to find Zheng, but he claimed, “We do not handle this” and told them to talk to Wei Gongxin, the judge they complained about. Wei refused to pick up the phone, and the person who answered told them to look for Judge Gao Chao. Everyone was passing the buck. A staff member of Cui Liangming's office told them: “Our supervisor said you have to wait, with Falun Gong cases there is a new policy.”
Lanzhou City Procuratorate Appeals Division pushes the issue to the District Prosecutor's Office
On April 1st 2013, Wang Youjiang's family members went to the Lanzhou Procuratorate Appeals Division and a staff member with the last name of Zhong began slandering Falun Gong in front of them. They warned him immediately: Falun Gong teaches people to be good, they did not violate any law, nor pose any threat to the government. People all over the world are practicing Falun Gong. The persecution against Falun Gong was initiated by Jiang Zemin, who used his power over the law. The persecution did not destroy cultivators' righteous belief, but it brought on unprecedented disaster to our nation. We hope you will learn the facts, do things according to the law, allow justice for Mr. Wang Youjiang. Let him go home.” Zhong told them to go back to the Chengguan District Procuratorate: “Their duty is inspection and supervision.”
Lanzhou Intermediate Court claims they do not handle Falun Gong cases
On April 9th 2013, Wang's family called Cui Liangming of Lanzhou Intermediate Court to find out the results of Judge Wei Gongxin's illegal act. Cui claimed that they had to go to the Chengguan District Court. Since it was related to Falun Gong, they could not do anything about it. “If it were another case, we would handle it immediately, but no department wants to handle Falun Gong cases. Do not call anymore – you're wasting your time.”
His family member replied: “We hired a lawyer, and he will plead not guilty. Wang Youjiang is a good person, he is persecuted because he practices Falun Gong. Wei Gongxin, and Liu Dongyu did not enforce the law, they're abusing the law. Your organization is suppose to inspect and supervise, yet you refuse to carry out your duty. Where can we find justice? If you do not handle the case, you should release Mr. Wang Youjiang. If you are a good person, you will know what to do.”
Cui Liangming stated: “I am just an office staff member, I don't make decisions. You better find another appeals office. If you have documentation from the supreme court, we will handle it immediately.”
Numerous appeals offices and petition departments refuse to take responsibility
On April 12, 2013, Wang's family members went to Lanzhou Procuratorate and looked for the division director, but they could not find him.
One week later, they went again and found the vice director Sun Baofang, and reported the case. Sun Baofang began slandering Falun Gong. Wang's family member replied: “Everyone is equal before the law, how can you treat people differently? You do not enforce the law, or do things in accordance with the law. How can we trust you to uphold justice?” Sun Baofang argued irrationally: “There is no verdict yet.” They said, “You cannot sentence, it will be injustice for sure. You need to remember, there is a higher standard behind law: conscientiousness and virtue. If a judge does not have professional ethics, a sense of justice and conscience, and does not enforce the law, he will not make a fair and just judgment. Is it wrong for Mr. Wang Youjiang to be a good person? Is it wrong to practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance? You should read the related regulations in the Constitution.” Sun was speechless and mumbled: “Wait until next Monday.”
The family members went to the Chengguan District government Commission for Discipline Inspection Letters and Visits Office and filed the compliant against Judges Wei Gongxin and Liu Dongyu of Chengguan Court. The staff took a close look at the material and replied: “We do not handle cases like this, you may go to the fifth floor, look for Letters and Visits Office of the National People's Congress. They handle cases like this.”
So they went to the fifth floor and handed over the letter of complaint. The staff stated: “You may go to the intermediate court, the political and legal committee, 610 Offices. We won't handle this case, you may go.”
When they went to the Letters and Visits Office of Gansu Provincial Civil Affairs Department, Gansu Provincial People's Congress Petition Office, they were told: “Go to Lanzhou city office.”
When they went back to Lanzhou Letters and Visits Office of the National People's Congress, the staff was surprised: “I thought no one was learning Falun Gong since the persecution. How can there still be people learning Falun gong? Can't you persuade him not to?”
His family replied: “Wang Youjiang became a good person after practicing Falun Gong. He is considerate of others, works diligently, takes care of his family, and does not do anything to harm others. You mean we need to persuade him not to be a good person?”
“Judge Wei Gongxin and Liu Dongyu prevented our lawyer from seeing his client. Everything that happened to Wang Youjiang is illegal and we have nowhere to appeal. I have appealed numerous times and I hope you will uphold justice.”
From the countless appeals, his family members encountered unreasonable and unbelievable difficulties, but they stated that no matter how difficult it is, they will continue appealing level after level, and they hope the family members of all the illegally detained Falun Dafa practitioners can stand up to rescue their loved ones.
