Close to 400 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Baoding City in the Run Up to the Olympics (Map)

Baoding City, Hebei Province, is close to Beijing. The two cities are about 130 km (approximately 81 miles) apart. The northern part of Zhuozhou City and Laishui County are part of Beijing's Fangshan District. The three areas are under the jurisdiction of Baoding. There are 18 counties and four county-level cities. The total area is 22,000 square kilometers and its population in 2004 was 10,890,000.

Ms. Li Xiulan Remains Illegally Imprisoned in the First Detention Center of Lanzhou City

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 17, 2008, the Chengguan District Court of Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, illegally tried Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Xiulan, Yue Zhongxiu, and two others without notifying their family members. Their families had to seek out the location of the trial and the date. Attending the proceedings, they saw that Ms. Li was emaciated.

Ms. Pan Xiuming Brutally Tortured at Nanling Police Station in Changchun, Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) On October 16, 2008, Ms. Pan Xiuming, a 59-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province, was arrested by the Changchun Nanling police.She was distributing truth-clarification materials.

At the police station, she was tortured by Officer Dong, who is about 40 years old. He slapped her in the face until her mouth bled. He punched her in the chest and arms until her arms were black and blue, shoved her, and dragged her by her hair. He also struck her on the head using a copy of the book "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party." The attack was so vicious that she had suffered from vertigo, nausea, and vomiting. Another policeman handcuffed her behind her back and pulled the cuffs upward until she almost fainted. He then used pens to stab under her fingernails until her fingers were bruised and swollen and stomped on her feet with his boots. During the torture, Dong shouted his questions at her, "Where did the materials come from? Where did the other person go? " Despite the torture, Ms. Pan replied. "I cannot tell you."
