The Number of Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted to Death Has Increased to 53

A 61-year-old peasant was persecuted to Death, Longkou City, Shandong Province

Tian Xiangcui, female, 61, was from Qujiagou, Fengyi Town, Longkou City, Shandong Province. Tian was a Falun Gong practitioner and detained at the Fengyi town government facilities on July 12th or 13th, 2000, for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Lead by Cao Chengxu, the staff at Fengyi town government persecuted 17 Falun Gong practitioners, including Tian Xiangcui. On the first day, a strong male practitioner was beaten up so badly that he had to be carried by two staff members to use the bathroom, as he couldn' go on his own. The practitioners were forced to stand still for the whole day under the burning sun, facing east in the morning and west in the afternoon. The staff also beat the practitioners twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Oftentimes, four or five people surrounded and beat one practitioner.

When One Is Out to Maliciously Charge Someone, One Can Always Trump Up the Charge

Oftentimes, there are people who ask me: "Is Falun Gong involved in politics?" I reply: "No, Falun Gong is a cultivation practice for body and mind." Then, the next question for me is: "Why does the Chinese Communist Party crackdown on Falun Gong?" Of course, Westerners and Easterners would expect different answers for the same question. Westerners find it unconceivable, as this is something [the crackdown] that would never happen in their countries, whereas, Easterners would like to know if you are hiding something. But I, [to this question,] have no choice but to say: "I myself would like to ask Jiang Zemin -- why he is so hostile to Falun Gong which teaches people to cultivate body and mind and has never been confrontational to the Government." Of course, it is impossible for me to have such a chance but this thought remains in my mind. Nonetheless, MikeWallace' interview with Jiang inspired me a lot.

Changchun Women's Labor Camp Inhumanely Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners

So far there have been around 1000 Falun Gong practitioners detained at the Changchun Women’s Re-Education Labor Camp. The government sentenced most of them, to a one-year term of forced labor. They were sentenced for so-called "disturbing social order", because since July 22, 1999, most of them went to Beijing to lodge peaceful appeals to Chinese government. The warden even said to the Falun Gong practitioners publicly, "It is hell in the human world here." Reading Falun Dafa books and doing the exercises are prohibited there. Placed under the constant surveillance everywhere in the ward, including the cells and the corridors, enforced by other inmates who do not practice Falun Gong, the Falun Gong practitioners totally lost their freedom. Whenever they were found studying the Fa (teachings of Falun Dafa) or practicing the exercises, they would be beaten and cursed at. Some practitioners were beaten so severely that bruises were all over their faces. Some other practitioners were not only beaten on their faces to the point of being swollen and lacerated, but also electrically shocked, which is harder to bear than other kinds of torture. Even under such harsh circumstances, Falun Gong practitioners have never ceased requesting a legal environment for doing their Fa study and practicing the exercises.
