(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Yunliang from Dehui City, Jilin Province, was admitted to the Jilin Province Prison to serve a four-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Wang, in his 50s, was arrested on March 11, 2024, by officers from the Dehui City Police Department. The authorities did not notify his family regarding his case status. The family only managed to confirm his prison sentence and admission recently, but they still don’t know any information about his indictment, trial or sentencing.
Mr. Wang had a small business and sold home-made tofu. After he was arrested in 2000 and given one-year at the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp, he had to close it. He later made a living by driving three-wheeled pedicabs.
While visiting another practitioner, Mr. Lin Xiaoming, on April 14, 2011, Mr. Wang was arrested by officers from the Dehui City Domestic Security Division, who were staked outside Mr. Lin’s home. Because Mr. Wang refused to report his name and address, the police pushed him to the ground, stepped on his head and dragged him by his feet for several meters.
The police ordered Mr. Wang to provide information about other practitioners, after they took him to the Dehui City Police Department. He refused to comply. The officers handcuffed him behind his back and in order to cause him excruciating pain, they stepped on the cuffs, which cut deep into his flesh. Then they poured a bottle of water into his collar. They restrained him on a Tiger Bench for over two hours and slapped his face more than 20 times. His skin peeled and his face was extremely swollen.
Mr. Wang was taken to the Dehui City Lockup and later given one year of forced labor. He was first held at the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp. He told the guards to not beat Falun Gong practitioners. In retaliation, they stripped his clothes, covered his head, and shocked him with electric batons all over his body, including his lips and genitals. He was later transferred to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp to finish serving the term. He was released on March 15, 2012.
Before Mr. Wang was arrested, he was the main breadwinner for the family. His daughter was about to take the college entrance exam and his son was about to enter high school. His wife was unable to work due to poor health. The family lived a hard life without any income while he was incarcerated.
