Mr. Li Xianzhi, of Duyun City, Sichuan Province, suddenly lost consciousness on March 3, 2006. He died three days later, on March 6, 2006.
Mr. Li, his wife Ms. Liu Xiaoju, and daughter Ms. Li Qing, were all persecuted for their shared faith in Falun Gong. Ms. Li was arrested on September 30, 2004 after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials. The police raided the residence she shared with her parents. After she managed to escape, the police intimidated her parents in order to find out where they got the Falun Gong materials. Terrified by the police, Ms. Liu fell ill and died on December 7, 2004.
While mourning his wife’s death, Mr. Li still faced constant harassment by the police, who frequently came to check whether Ms. Li had returned home. The mental pressure took a toll on his health and eventually claimed his life.
