(Minghui.org) It’s confirmed by Minghui.org in mid-May 2024 that a Yushu City, Jilin Province, resident has been admitted to the Gongzhuling Prison to serve a ten-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Jiao Chuanfu, in his 50s, was arrested on February 19, 2023 by officers of the Erdao District Domestic Security Division. Details about his indictment, trial and sentencing aren’t clear.
Prior to his latest heavy prison sentencing, Mr. Jiao has been repeatedly arrested and served one labor camp term for upholding his faith in Falun Gong.
He was first arrested in August 1999 by Zhang Dezhi, the chief of Qingshan Police Station, and officials from the Qingshan Village government. While being detained at the Yushu Lockup, he was forced to sit on a small bench all day long. The guards beat him on October 1, 1999. He was later given one year at the Changchun City Forced Labor Camp.
Mr. Jiao was arrested by police chief Zhang again in March 2001 and detained at the Yushu Brainwashing Center. He was extorted a large amount of money.
During a police sweep on the evening of February 3, 2002, Mr. Jiao was seized by the police one more time. He was released after an unknown amount of time, only to be arrested again in March 2002. He refused to go with the police, and chief Zhang beat him savagely before stuffing him into their cruiser. They then drove him to a brainwashing center.
Sixteen Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. Jiao, helped clean the snow after a big winter storm to restore traffic on February 20, 2004. Yet police chief Zhang accused them of having an organized Falun Gong activity and arrested them all. Although Mr. Jiao was released shortly after, he was arrested again weeks later while working in the farm field. The police beat him until he was unable to move. They sat on him in the car while taking him to the police station. They beat him again at the police station until they became exhausted themselves. Mr. Jiao was then detained at the Changchun City Brainwashing Center for an unknown amount of time.
