Raising Awareness to Police in the Domestic Security Division

(Minghui.org) I started practicing Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, in 1996. My wife, my daughter and I have been persecuted many times in the past 20 plus years. I was imprisoned for 13 years. I had to face the guards who persecuted me in prison, as well as the police officers and government officials who frequently harassed me over the past 20 years. Those groups of people are the main sentient beings whom I clarified the truth to. 

Those who are involved in persecuting Dafa practitioners willingly or unwillingly are also beings who have come for the Fa. Most of them are people who should be saved. The process of clarifying the truth to them is also a process of cultivation and improving my xinxing. It is also Dafa practitioners’ mission. Below are some of my cultivation experiences when I clarified the truth to the police from the Domestic Security Division all these years. 

Policeman from the Domestic Security Division: I Will Practice Falun Dafa After I Retire

I was interrogated by police from the Domestic Security Division when the persecution just started on July 20, 1999, because I wrote letters to the local newspaper and some government departments to oppose their slandering of Falun Dafa. 

The interrogating policeman asked me if I knew him because he worked undercover and pretended to practice Falun Dafa at our practice site. I said, “You know Falun Gong doesn’t have a registry. Whoever wants to come just comes and leaves as they please. We practice the exercises together and then leave. How could I know you?”

I asked him if he found out anything. He said, “People in these three categories are more likely to practice Falun Gong: officials, intellectuals and sick people. They practice the exercises and study the Fa together every day. Nothing is unusual.” I asked him why the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Gong. He said, “Because too many people practice Falun Gong and their numbers surpass the CCP members and threaten the CCP.” I asked him if he believed it. He said, “I don’t believe it.”

I told him why I started practicing Falun Dafa and how I had benefited from it. Later on, I was interrogated several times for holding experience-sharing meetings with practitioners from other provinces. I gave him the truth-clarification fliers every time. One day he said to me, “I know Falun Gong is a practice of the Buddha School. I will practice Falun Gong after I retire.” 

I said, “Haven’t you practiced Falun Dafa regardless of what brought you to the practice? Please continue practicing it. Falun Dafa emphasizes the cultivation of xinxing. You are cultivating if you comply with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” He laughed. 

Section Chief: We Need Traitors, But I Hate Traitors the Most

One day in 2000, over 10 policemen broke into my home and ransacked it. I shouted, “Stop,” to the policeman who was going to take away the photo of Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa. He stopped and I said, “You just broke in and conducted a search. Don’t you need to comply with the law?” The team leader said that I gave Master’s articles to a practitioner. I asked him if I violated any law. He demanded that I follow them. They took a few of Master’s articles with them, but didn’t take any Dafa books. 

They took me to the local police station. Over 10 policemen interrogated me in turn. They asked me where I got the articles, who gave them to me and whom I contacted. I didn’t reply to their questions but told them my cultivation experiences, how I had benefited from practicing Falun Dafa and how practitioners recovered from terminal illnesses. They listened to me as if they were listening to stories. They didn’t get any information from me after a whole day. 

I was held in a dark, wet room at night. They thought they could get some information from me by putting me there. The group of policemen came again the next morning. The team leader told me directly, “There are two paths in front of you. You will be released if you tell us what we want. The second way is...” I stood up and interrupted him, “I choose the second way. Do whatever you want to do.” He was a bit shocked and then said with a smile, “Let’s talk nicely.” He started again like the day before and asked questions about Master’s new articles. I kept telling them how wonderful Falun Dafa is. 

When we had lunch at a restaurant, the team leader said that he had diarrhea the night before. The other policemen joked with him, “You persecuted Falun Gong. See? You got retribution.” He asked me if it was retribution. I asked him instead, “What do you think? There are divine beings three inches above our heads. It is a heavenly principle that good will be rewarded and evil punished. It is just a matter of when, either now or later. It is more dangerous if the retribution comes in the future.”

The team leader asked me to get into their car after lunch. I thought they would send me back to the detention center. Instead, they took me home. Before the team leader left he said, “We need traitors. But I hate traitors most. People said that you are the most stubborn one and hard to handle. It is indeed true. I admire your firm belief in Falun Gong. Your Master will be happy to have such a disciple as you.” I corrected him, “I am honored to be Master’s disciple.”

Clarifying the Truth to a Group Head of the Domestic Security Division

Officers from the local 610 Office and the police department went to the prison to transform practitioners. They claimed that they wouldn’t stop until they reached their goal. I was on their list. I told the officers from the 610 Office, “It is illegal for you come to the prison to transform practitioners. What kind of organization is the 610 Office? What will you transform me into? Do you want me to become dishonest, bad, and fight with others?”

I said to the person who came from my company, “We are predestined to know each other. You don’t know anything. I hope that you don’t transform me. Otherwise our predestined relationship will end, which is not good for you and your family.” He didn’t say anything the whole time. 

Later on, the deputy director of the local police department came. I said to him, “Don’t talk to me if you want to transform me.” He said, “No, I just want to talk to you.” I replied, “Yes, we can have a chat. You are the deputy director of the police department. Your responsibility is to protect the people of our area. How come you’ve come to the prison to have a chat with me?” He didn’t talk much before he left. 

Finally a group head of the Domestic Security Division came and wanted to have a chat with me. He believed in Buddhism, but he was actively involved in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners and tried very hard to transform us. I heard of him, but this was the first time I saw him in person. We talked for four days covering various topics. He didn’t mention “transforming me.” He said what he wanted to say, while I said what I wanted; we didn’t argue. 

When I said that Falun Gong practitioners were kind and good people, he said, “I know Falun Gong practitioners are very kind. If I were owner of a business, I would hire Falun Gong practitioners because they wouldn’t cheat or play tricks.” I said to him, “You are a capable person. You believe in the Divine. The CCP is atheist. They only use you but will not put you in an important position. Though you know many Buddhist scriptures, you are only an intellectual studying Buddhism. You are not a genuine cultivator.” He asked me why. I said, “If you are a genuine cultivator, you will not participate in the persecution. People of the Buddha School cultivate kindness. If you cultivate kindness, you will develop compassion. Those who cultivate in the Buddha School will not follow the CCP to persecute cultivators.” 

The officers from the 610 Office were not able to transform me and finished the session four days later. I wrote a long letter to the group head and hoped that he would treasure his life, his predestined relationship with the Divine and treat Falun Dafa practitioners kindly. I encouraged him to leave the Domestic Security Division for his own sake and for his family. After I was released from the prison, I heard that he left his position and worked in a detention center. He found excuses not to get involved when he was asked to transform practitioners. 

I was arrested again in 2012 and was held in the detention center where he worked. I had a long talk with him. He said he became a lay Buddhist and vegetarian. I told him it was only getting rid of the attachment to meat and that all human attachments and desires need to be discarded. 

He did some good things for practitioners in the detention center and helped them when they had troubles. I wrote a third long letter before I was transferred to the prison and told him not to miss the opportunity to be saved by Falun Dafa. 

Clarifying the Truth to Police in the Domestic Security Division

In order to rescue a practitioner, I went to see a group head of the Domestic Security Division in the district one day. When I went into his office, I saw many policemen surrounding a computer looking at the Minghui website. I asked the group head why they visited the Minghui website. He said that they visited it every day because they wanted to know what Falun Gong was up to. I felt sorry for them. Measured by Dafa’s principles, they had committed unpardonable sins. Luckily, many policemen were savable, so I decided to clarify the truth to them. 

One day, the coordinator practitioner told me that the head of the Domestic Security Division and the director of the 610 Office wanted to talk to Falun Dafa practitioners. She asked me if I would like to talk to them, and I agreed. I wanted to clarify the truth to them and save those who were still savable. I would not beg them for anything. 

Several practitioners and I stayed in a village resort and clarified the truth to the head of the Domestic Security Division and the director of the 610 Office for three days. We clarified the truth to them together and separately, even at meal time and answered their various questions. 

I talked to the head of the Domestic Security Division individually and asked why our practitioners were arrested on a large scale. He told me that a journalist from the CCP’s state-run Xinhua News Agency wrote internal reports for the central government about how they saw the Falun Gong sticky posts on the back of the seat in a taxi. The driver told the journalist that he often came across such incidents. The journalist visited some shops and the shop owners told him that Falun Gong practitioners often distributed materials in their shops. The journalist wrote an internal report after he returned to Beijing. Zhou Yongkang, the then head of the CCP Political and Legal Committee, gave the order to arrest practitioners. 

One day, a former practitioner told the police about many material production sites she knew of. The head of the Domestic Security Division said, “Actually we have all the information of the sites but we haven’t done anything about them yet. Orders from above requested us to arrest the practitioners. We had to hand in our mobile phones to avoid information leaks when we were having the meeting. We don’t have any other choice; we are in this profession and have to work for them. We are sandwiched. The order from above requested us to arrest the practitioners. We had to comply. If we arrest the practitioners, you people put us on the evil person list on the Minghui website. I am on the list.” He also told me, “I admire your Falun Gong practitioners who are firm in your belief. I despise those who have been transformed. Most Falun Gong practitioners are kind and good people. I read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.”

The local practitioners clarified the truth to the police in the Domestic Security Division and the local police station intensively for a period of time. Some practitioners went to the police station to give out truth-clarification materials to the police and talked to them in person. This restrained the evil. Some policemen started protecting practitioners after they had come to see the truth about Falun Gong. 

One day, the police raided a practitioner’s home where there was a material production site. They took hundreds of copies of Master’s lectures and the Nine Commentaries. The practitioner was released on bail pending trial. Some policemen searched the practitioner’s home, but found dozens of Dafa books but left them there in the home. Some put the books and materials outside the front door of the practitioner’s home. 

One practitioner was arrested last year. I went to see another head of the Domestic Security Division with other practitioners to get the practitioner released. I haven’t seen this head for quite a few years. I told him that several heads of the Domestic Security divisions quit their jobs. He said that it was good for our practitioners if he stayed in his position because he protected practitioners. I told him, “That’s because you still have kind thoughts. But you are in this position. You have to follow the CCP to persecute our practitioners. The police in your Domestic Security Division still arrest Falun Gong practitioners.” He asked me why the persecution still hadn’t ended, claiming practitioners said it would end on such and such day. I said, “It is not the time for you to think when the persecution will end, but rather, you have to think if you can make it to the day when the persecution ends or how you will face it when the big trial commences.”

One day before the CCP’s two Congresses, he called me and asked me if I could contact a particular practitioner. That practitioner came to see me after I contacted her. She said that the police from the Domestic Security Division wanted to see her. I went there with her. We learned that the local police stations were to arrest the practitioners they deemed as not cooperative. She was on their list. The head of the Domestic Security Division arranged a meeting for her to see the director of the police station to ease tensions. He also reminded our practitioner to be very careful during this time. I thanked him and told him that he did the right thing.

Head of the Domestic Security Division Shouted “Falun Dafa is Good”

The police tried to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners on a large scale before the CCP’s 18^th National Congress. The head of the Domestic Security Division in my area led some policemen to search my home and arrest me. I said, “It is not good that a friend arrests another friend.” He said that he couldn’t do anything because it was an order from above. I was taken to the police station to be interrogated. I was sent to a hospital for a check-up before they took me to the detention center. He didn’t handcuff me. When we came to the hospital hall, he got excited and shouted, “Falun Dafa is good!” He then said to me and other policemen, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” I was a bit surprised and said to him, “Yes, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is indeed good.”

I had clarified the truth to him many times. I talked to him individually for over two hours when I was held in the detention center. He said, “I admire Falun Gong practitioners. I admire you. It is the order from above to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. I don’t want to do this. They said that you are the key person. I don’t want you to write a repentance statement, but only a statement that you will not leave this area. You will be released then.” After a while he said, “I think you will not write it.” I said, “So you know. How could I give up my belief and sell my soul?” I told him not to commit crimes against Falun Dafa again and asked him to leave this position. He said, “I will definitely listen to you.” I learned that he got another position when I was released from the prison. 

I came across interference and misunderstandings from local practitioners during the process of clarifying the truth to the police in the Domestic Security Division. The practitioners thought they were evil people. Saving them requires me to have great compassion, as they were the ones who persecuted me. I got rid of many attachments during the process. 

I regard whomever I’ve been in contact with, even those who had persecuted me, as predestined people because they came for the Fa. Whether they could be saved was their choice and will be measured by Dafa’s standards. I couldn’t refuse them or regard them as evil policemen. I should treat them with kindness and save them with compassion. This is the boundless compassion of Falun Dafa and also the broad mind that Dafa practitioners should have.
