(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 30 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Shuyun Faces Trial
Ms. Sun Shuyun was arrested near her younger sister’s home in the Tianyue Residential Community in the Xiangfang District by officers from the Hulan District Police Department on May 20, 2023. She was taken to the No. 2 Detention Center. Her younger sister Sun Shuzhi received a call from the Daowai District Court on August 13, 2023, informing her that Ms. Sun Shuyun will be tried in court the following week.
2. [Beijing] The Case Against Ms. Kou Rumin Submitted to the Court
Ms. Kou Rumin from Xi Village, Jinzhan Township, Chaoyang District, received a call from the Chaoyang District Procuratorate on August 16, 2023, informing her that her case was submitted to the Chaoyang District Court.
3. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Case Against He Ziguang Submitted to the Procuratorate
He Ziguang, 75, was arrested and taken to the Huanghua Town Police Station by plainclothes officers when He Ziguang talked to people about Falun Gong in Huanghua Town Market on March 13, 2023. Officers Hao Xiaojun from the Zhucheng City Police Department and Ju Jinji from the Huanghua Police Station ransacked He’s home and confiscated many Falun Gong books. He Ziguang was detained in the Zhucheng City Detention Center until April 19, 2023.
Officer Ju Jinji and two other officers went to He Ziguang’s home on August 15, 2023. They wanted to take He to the Procuratorate but failed because the family strongly objected.
4. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Huairong Harassed
Ms. Zhao Huarong, 58, was told by a village official on the morning of August 16, 2023 that the higher authorities sent some people to the village office and they wanted to video-record her.
Ms. Zhao was arrested in 2019 and later sentenced to eighteen months in prison. She was released in 2021.
5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Detained
Three practitioners from Xinxing Township, Shuangcheng Township, including Mr. Zhao Dehua, Mr. Wang Zhengxing, and Mr. Liu Hanchao, were arrested on July 31, 2023. Their homes were ransacked. Their Falun Gong books, photos of Falun Gong’s founder, and their computers were confiscated.
Mr. Wang Zhengxing and Mr. Liu Hanchao were released on August 12, 2023. Mr. Zhao Dehua is still held in the No. 1 Detention Center.
6. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qin Aihua Detained
Ms. Qin Aihua was detained for 15 days in the Pudong Detention Center in Jimo City, and was released on August 16, 2023.
7. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Tian Li Arrested
Tian Li was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station on August 5, 2023.
8. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lai Caijun Files Lawsuit Against the Education Bureau
Ms. Lai Caijun used to be a teacher in Chaoyang Street Primary School. She was subjected to one year of forced labor and was detained in the Masanjia Labor Camp. She was arrested on November 24, 2004 for talking to students about Falun Gong, and was later sentenced to four years in prison. She was fired from her job at the school. Ms. Lai is now in her 60s and has no steady income.
Ms. Lai brought a lawsuit against the Chaoyang Street Primary School and the Lingyuan Education Bureau. The court hearing was originally scheduled for August 17, 2023 but has been delayed to September 5, 2023.
9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Yanhua Persecuted
Ms. Hu Yanhua was arrested by officers from the Laodong Police Station in the Jiang’an District on May 31, 2023. She was taken to the No. 2 Detention House and transferred to a mental hospital on June 11, 2023. She was detained in the mental hospital for nearly two months, then transferred to the Yusunshan Brainwashing Center on August 8, 2023.
10. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Thirteen Practitioners and Family Members Arrested
More than ten practitioners and their family members were arrested at around 10 a.m. on July 26, 2023. The practitioners included Mr. Zhao Hongli, Wu Junde, Liu Bo, Xu Xiaomei, Mr. Cao Yang and his son, Cheng Chunxia, and two sisters surnamed Liu and Xing. The family members included Wu Junde’s daughter Wu Yan, Xu Xiaomei’s two sisters, and Mr. Zhao Hongli’s wife. The police ransacked the practitioners’ homes. Wu Yan and Mr. Zhao Hongli’s wife were released the next day. Xu Xiaomei and her sisters, and Wu Junde have been released. Mr. Cao Yang, Xing, and Liu Bo are currently detained in the Xinmin Detention Center. The two sisters surnamed Liu and Xing are detained in the Shenyang City Detention Center.
11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Mu Chunping Missing
Ms. Mu Chunping from Shaoguo Town has been missing since August 9, 2023.
12. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Wang Minghua Arrested
Wang Minghua from Huyi District was arrested at home by officers from the Huimin Police Station on August 16, 2023. Wang is currently being held in the Lajiatan Detention House in Huyi District.
13. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Liu Quanwang Detained
Liu Quanwang from Nanpiao New District is being held in the No. 19 Ward, No. 1 Prison of Shenyang City.
14. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Liao Hui Persecuted
Liao Hui (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Baishazhou Police Station in Wuchang District on March 16, 2020, for distributing information about Falun Gong. Liao was released on bail for one year, pending trial. Liao was placed under residential surveillance by the Wuchang District Police Department on March 16, 2021.
Liao Hui was tried by the Wuchang District Court on December 30, 2021 and was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 2000 yuan. Liao appealed to the intermediate court. Liao received a call from the Baishazhou Police Station on August 2, 2023, informing him to go to the police station to get the Falun Gong books that were confiscated. Liao went to the police station on August 4, 2023 and was arrested there. Liao is currently detained in the Wuchang District Detention Center.
