(Minghui.org) A Falun Dafa practitioner in China was arrested, detained, and sentenced to prison after someone reported that she was distributing Falun Dafa desk calendars.
A member of her family hired a lawyer. When the lawyer visited the practitioner, he saw that she was subdued and sounded weak when she spoke. The practitioner told the lawyer that she had been bullied and abused by the other inmates in the cell, and the environment was extremely harsh.
Upon hearing this, some of the local practitioners talked with her family to get all the details about what was happening and then wrote a letter to the director of the detention center and to one of the guards. They also published the phone numbers of the director, the court personnel, and the Procuratorate on the Minghui website to stop the detention center from further persecuting this practitioner.
Letter to the Detention Center Director
Greetings Ms. Zhang, Detention Center Director:
We are sorry to bother you. You are the head of the detention center for women and have a reputation for being an upright and kind person. I want to tell you about some of the illegal behavior being directed at a detainee at the detention center. I trust that you, as the director, will handle the situation appropriately and stop this illegal behavior.
I am the older sister of this Falun Dafa practitioner. The lawyer we hired met with my sister in the detention center in April. She was mentally slow, unable to fully open her eyes, physically weak, and listless. She told the lawyer that she was bullied and abused in the cell. She was forced to stand all day and work night shifts, every day. She was so sleepy that she couldn’t keep her eyes open. She said that a drug addict in the cell pinched her private parts. She was also limited in her access to the bathroom. Our family became very concerned when we heard what was happening, and worry about the safety of our younger sister.
It is my understanding that the dignity of the detainees in the detention center is to be respected and is protected by law. Yet, my sister’s condition is close to depression. We will bring this to the attention of the relevant departments if the inmates continue to violate the prison laws and regulations by abusing my sister. As a family member, I request that you, Director Zhang, please pay attention to this matter. As the director, you have the responsibility and power to stop this illegal behavior and prevent my sister from being bullied. Please help to improve her situation.

About three weeks later, the lawyer met with the practitioner again. The practitioner told the lawyer that, for some reason, her environment suddenly improved, and the inmates in the cell stopped bullying her. A female guard in charge of her cell took the initiative to take care of her and made things much easier for her. On the surface, it appears that the letter written to the director, as well as fellow practitioners’ continuous phone calls, have helped to improve her situation.
A Letter to a Female Guard
To pass along our gratitude to the female guard, we wrote her a short letter.
Dear Madam:
I am the older sister of Falun Dafa practitioner Xin [alias]. When the lawyer we hired met with her last month, he learned that my sister was being bullied and abused by others in the cell. Our family was very anxious and distressed upon hearing this and promptly reported it to the director of the detention center. We hoped the director could solve the problem as soon as possible. We know that prisons and detention centers have regulations, and the dignity of detainees must be respected and protected by law.
The lawyer met with my sister again a few days ago. Her mental state was much better compared to how she was during the first meeting. Presumably, the director dealt with the issue properly. My sister told the lawyer that a female guard has taken good care of her and made her life much easier, and the other inmates stopped bullying her. Our family was very pleased to hear this news.
In the past, my sister often told me, “Be kind to others, and with this one thought it will bring you happiness and peace.” She said that many good guards who treated Falun Dafa practitioners well in the prison had received good rewards, and there were also guards who persecuted practitioners that subsequently received retribution.
Our entire family supports my sister’s belief. In the past, she suffered from severe arthritis, enteritis, skin disease, and secreted a yellowish liquid from a spot on her head. She also had many bad habits, and we used to worry about her.
Her illnesses went away after she began to cultivate by following the principles of Falun Dafa, and she corrected her bad habits. She became healthy and happy and is a different person now. We all marveled at the changes in her brought about by Dafa. My sister has been sent to prison several times in recent years because of her belief. She often said that Falun Dafa saved her life. Now, everything she does is dignified and righteous. She will never give up her belief in the Falun Dafa principles.
We were told that you helped my sister and took care of her. We want to express our gratitude for your kindness. Under the current circumstances, we can only silently wish that you will be blessed. Maybe you are a benefactor in my sister’s life. I believe your kindness will definitely be rewarded by heaven.
