1. [Beijing] Mr. Pang You Faces Trial
Mr. Pang You will have a second hearing in the Changping Court on July 3, 2023.
2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qi Yingjun Faces Trial
Mr. Qi Yingjun of the Laiwu District was arrested in his apartment by officers from the Zhangjiawa Police Station on June 19, 2023. The Jinan City No. 6 Detention Center did not admit him because he was sick. He has been under house arrest. The Laiwu District Domestic Security Division submitted his case to the Laiwu District Procuratorate on June 25, which submitted it to the Laiwu District Court on June 29.
3. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wu Siqing’s Case Moved to Court
Ms. Wu Siqing was arrested by officers from the county police department and police station in December 2022 after someone reported her when she distributed Falun Gong flyers. She was detained and then released on bail.
Her attorney recently looked into her case in the Changsha County Procuratorate. The prosecutor said the case will be transferred to the Liuyang City Procuratorate and Court either next week or the following week. Her attorney requested to review her case file, but his request was denied.
4. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Jinshu’s Pension Stopped
Ms. Gao Jinshu’s pension has been suspended.
5. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yu Zhen Arrested
Ms. Yu Zhen of Tiechang Town was arrested by officers from the Guosong Town Police Station for posting Falun Gong flyers.
6. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiao Linhui Faces Indictment
Ms. Jiao Linhui from Tianjin lives in Longkou City. She was arrested at home on the morning of May 9, 2023 by Dongjiang Police Station officers, who broke in by prying open her door. She has been held in the Yantai Detention Center.
7. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Niu Huiqing Arrested
Ms. Niu Huiqing of Xingyang City was arrested on her way to work in mid-June 2023 by Xingyang Domestic Security officers. Someone reported her when she told her coworkers about the persecution of Falun Gong.
8. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhu Zhanjuan Sentenced
Ms. Zhu Zhanjuan, a retired outstanding teacher, was sentenced to ten months in prison and fined 3,000 yuan by the Gaoxin District Court. She appealed.
9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Shuyun on Hunger Strike in Detention Center
Ms. Sun Shuyun, in her 70s, was arrested by Hulan District Police Department officers on May 20, 2023. She has been held in the Yaziquan Detention Center. She refused to sit on the bench or wear the detainee uniform. She does the Falun Gong exercises every day. She has been on a hunger strike for more than 40 days and is now emaciated.
Ms. Sun was detained more than ten times. She was arrested in 2021 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police ransacked her home, seized her Falun Gong books, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, and her residency identity card. She was put under house arrest. She appealed to the officers and asked them to return her identity card and confiscated items. After she repeatedly asked for two years without success, she filed a complaint to the local procuratorate. The officers retaliated. They submitted her case to procuratorate, which returned it and asked for additional information. The resubmitted case was accepted and will be filed with the court.
10. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ai Xia Detained
Ms. Ai Xia, in her 50s, was arrested at home by officers from the Baita District Police Station on the evening of June 27, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Liaoyang City Detention Center.
11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Feng Xiuhua Detained
Ms. Feng Xiuhua of Hebaohu Farm, 57, was arrested in mid-May 2023. Her home in the Hebaohu area and her son’s home in Wujiashan were ransacked. Her Falun Gong books and other belongings were confiscated. She is being held in the Wuhan No.1 Detention Center.
12. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Yitao Imprisoned, Family Visits Denied
Ms. Liu Yitao, 50, who taught at the Jiangxi Province Broadcasting University, was arrested for telling a courier about the persecution of Falun Gong in 2022. She was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison. She was incarcerated in the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison on February 1, 2023. Her parents went there to visit her, but they were told her family was not allowed to visit her.
13. [Shanghai] Ms. Cong Peixi’s Pension WithheldMs. Cong Peixi’s pension has been suspended for two months.
14. [Dengta City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Gao Yanxia Detained
Ms. Gao Yanxia was arrested on June 14, 2023. She was detained for two weeks and was released on June 29.
15. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Ms. Cui Yongfen Detained
Ms. Cui Yongfen of Jing County, 62, was arrested by officers from the Haidian District Police Department in Beijing and the Tiancun Road Police Station on July 2, 2021. She was sentenced to three years and three months in prison by the Haidian District’s Shanhou Court in Beijing. She was held in the Tianhe Prison Dispatch Office in Beijing until early 2023. She is being held in the Fifth Ward of the Hebei Province Prison Authority’s Jidong Branch No. 8 Prison.
16. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Practitioners Harassed
Ms. Ma Xiuling was harassed at home by three officers from the Xicheng Police Station on the afternoon of June 22, 2023. They told her, “Practicing Falun Gong is forbidden. Stop practicing.” They photographed her. Four officers returned to her home one evening several days later. They questioned her husband, Mr. Ma Shaozhou, and asked if he still practiced Falun Gong. They photographed him.
Ms. Wang Shuyun was harassed at home at the end of June 2023 by three officers from the Xicheng Police Station and the village secretary who led the way. They asked if she still practiced Falun Gong and photographed her.
Ms. Jin Shumin was harassed at home by two officers from the Pachigang Police Station in late June 2023. They said they were following orders. She was arrested in an open market in April 2023 by officers from the Xicheng Police Station and the Domestic Security Division. They took her to the police station where four officers tried to collect her blood samples by force. She resisted and was released that night.
17. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Qionghua Faces Trial
Ms. Liu Qionghua of Jianli City was arrested in Zhuhe Town in 2021 for distributing Falun Gong flyers. She was arrested again in Chengji Town in 2022 for the same reason. Police submitted her case to the Jianli Procuratorate.
Public Prosecution Section Chief Zhan Fengdong kept summoning Ms. Liu and threatening her. He also threatened her relatives. For example: Terminating her daughter’s teaching career. He made her relatives gather at her home and ordered them to pressure her to give up practicing Falun Gong. They ordered her to report to their office for a physical exam. But when she went there, they took her to the Jianli Detention Center. She has been held there since. The Jianli Court is planning a hearing.
