Additional Persecution News from China – May 15, 2023 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 32 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Tian Fengju Detained

Ms. Tian Fengju from Xinglong Village, Liangjiashan Township, received a call from the Liangjiashan Township Police Station on May 9, 2023, and was told to go to the station. When Ms. Tian went there the following day, she was arrested and taken to the Shulan City Detention Center.

2. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Mei Xinhua Arrested

Ms. Mei Xinhua from Wenquan District was reported to the police, and arrested by Zuo Shuisheng and other officers from the Wenquan District Police Department on the morning of May 11, 2023. Her Falun Gong books were confiscated. It is currently unknown where Ms. Mei is being held.

3. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Hu Cuilan Abused in Detention Center

Ms. Hu Cuilan, 75, was arrested for telling people about Falun Gong. She was held in the Nanjing City Detention Center. She was not allowed to get out of bed for up to 24 hours. She was not allowed to use the toilet and was in terrible condition.

4. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Xianghua Arrested

Ms. Wang Xianghua from Chengjiang Town, Meixian District, was reported to the police for telling elementary school students about Falun Gong around April 27, 2023. She was arrested by officers from the Chengjiang Town Police Station. She returned home on May 11.

5. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Gong Hua was arrested on May 12, 2023. Further details are not available.

Around May 5, officers from the Chengxi Police Station and the Yanzhuang Town Police Station, both in Ju County, harassed Mr. Wang Jin, Ms. Zhu Xiudi, and Hu at home or by phone. They conducted searches and confiscated Mr. Wang Jin’s four USB flash drives and printed materials.

Officers from the Yanyang Road Police Station and the Heshan Police Station, in the High-tech Zone, on behalf of the Donggang District Police Department, arrested Ms. Wang Junyan, Ms. Zhao Jie (Ms. Wang’s second daughter), Ms. Zhao Jing (Ms. Wang’s eldest daughter), and Mr. Zhu Chunlei (Ms. Wang’s eldest son-in-law) on May 12. Ms. Wang was pushed to the ground, handcuffed, and dragged away from her home by officers from the Yanyang Road Police Station. Ms. Zhao Jie was forcibly taken away while she was at work, by officers from the police department and the Yanyang Road Police Station. Mr. Zhu was restrained by officers from the Heshan Police Station in the High-tech Zone, handcuffed and arrested at home. Ms. Zhao Jing was also handcuffed and arrested together with her husband.

The three homes of the four practitioners were ransacked, and dozens of Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, video players, and paper bills with messages about the persecution of Falun Gong printed on them were confiscated. When they ransacked Ms. Zhao Jie’s home, the officers ordered the locksmith company to destroy the locks.

The four practitioners were each kept in a small soundproof room of about one square meter. They were interrogated while the officers took notes. After being held for 24 hours, the practitioners were released and placed under residential surveillance.

Mr. Ding Yuande and Ms. Ma Ruimei from Wulian County were also arrested that day.

6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Fu Li Arrested

Ms. Fu Li from Shuangcheng District was arrested at home by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station in the Shuangcheng District at noon on May 13, 2023.

7. [Linfen City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Lu Xijuan Harassed and Her Job Contract Terminated

Director Zhao Junsheng and officer Guo Wei from the Fencheng Town Police Station in Xiangfen County went to the dormitory at Ms. Lu Xijuan’s workplace to harass her on the morning of March 3, 2023. They photographed her and took away several Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, calendars, and a copy of Document No. 39 issued by the Ministry of Public Security.

Pressured by the police station, the management of Ms. Lu’s work unit terminated her labor contract.

8. [Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Cuiying and Ms. Zhang Suxia Arrested

Ms. Wang Cuiying and Ms. Zhang Suxia from Fangshu Village, Songlindian Town, were stopped and taken to the police station while posting Falun Gong materials on May 11, 2023. Ms. Wang has returned home. Ms. Zhang is being held in a detention center.

9. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Fengmei and Ms. Chen Lingling Harassed

Officers from the Liulin Police Station and the Ganguantun Police Station, both in Guan County, harassed Ms. Ma Fengmei and Ms. Chen Lingling in Xu Village and ransacked their homes. They confiscated several Falun Gong books. They forcibly collected blood samples from elderly practitioner Chen Qingzhen.

10. [Linkou County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Benzhi Arrested

Mr. Liu Benzhi was arrested while telling people about Falun Gong at the Gucheng Town farmers market on May 11, 2023. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer and Falun Gong books.

11. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qin Yuzhen Harassed at the End of Her Prison Term

Ms. Qin Yuzhen, 60, was held in the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison. Her prison term ended on May 12, 2023. At 8 a.m. that morning, Ms. Qin’s family came to the prison on time and waited to pick her up. However prison officials refused to release her. They said that the Political and Legal Affairs Committee called, and they had to wait for members of the committee to arrive at the prison before they could release her. Ms. Qin would be taken to the Anqing Police Station to report there.

The Political and Legal Affairs Committee personnel withheld Ms. Qin’s release papers, and told her to report to the police station before they could complete the procedures for reinstating her household registration and national ID card.

Ms. Qin was arrested and detained several times in the past. During her detention, she was abused physically, including being slapped in the face, sitting in an iron chair, and wearing handcuffs.

On July 12, 2022, Officer Wu Bin, from the Jiao District Domestic Security Division, and others broke into and waited inside Ms. Qin’s home. They arrested her when she returned home, and held her in custody. On September 13, 2022, She was sentenced to ten months in prison by Xiangyang District Court and fined 3,000 yuan.

12. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Xiping Arrested

Ms. Zhao Xiping from Shahe Town, Laizhou City, was arrested by officers from the Huibu Town Police Station while she was telling people about Falun Gong at the Huibu Town farmers market in Pingdu City on the morning of May 11, 2023. Her home was ransacked.

13. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Liu Chunxia Arrested

A large group of police officers from Xi’an City and Hu County broke into 55-year-old Ms. Liu Chunxia’s home on May 6, 2023, and arrested her. Ms. Liu was an engineer at Huibang Company, affiliated with the Hui’an Chemical Plant in the Hui’an Group Company. The officers confiscated a computer, a cell phone, and USB drives. Ms. Liu is being held in the Lianhu District Detention Center.

14. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Chen Shunju and Ms. Zhu Jiayan from Jingzhou District told two men in a village about Falun Gong, and helped them quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations on the afternoon of April 14, 2023. The two men responded positively, but afterwards they reported them to the police.

Ms. Chen and Ms. Zhu were arrested at another practitioner’s home by officers from the Jinan Police Station. After being held at the police station for 24 hours, Ms. Chen and Ms. Zhu were transferred to the Jingzhou District Lockup Center, where their blood samples were taken. Ms. Chen was released after 15 days. Ms. Zhu was transferred to the Jingzhou District Detention Center, where she remains in custody. The other practitioner’s whereabouts are still unknown.

15. [Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

The police, procuratorate, and court system in Lizhou District targeted Mr. Tao Qihua, his wife, daughter, and five other practitioners. They resorted to prosecution, confiscation, residential surveillance, extortion, and release on bail to persecute them.

Mr. Tao has been held in the Guangyuan City Detention Center for over a month. In collaboration with the Guangyuan City 610 Office, the Lizhou District police, procuratorate and court are preparing to prosecute, place on trial and sentence Mr. Tao to prison.

16. [Chongqing] Mr. Dai Xianming Placed Under Strict Control in Prison

Ms. Xu Keqin, wife of Mr. Dai Xianming from Yongchuan District, went to Chenshi Town Prison to visit Mr. Dai on May 12, 2023. Prison guards did not allow her to meet with her husband. She learned that he was placed under strict control.

On the evening of January 5, 2022, Mr. Dai was told to go to the Xuanhua Police Station. He was taken that night to the Yongchuan District Detention Center by He Chengjun and others from the Yongchuan Domestic Security Division. He was detained and charges were brought against him.

It was recently reported that Mr. Dai was sentenced to two years and six months in prison. His family was not notified of the trial, which was held in secret. On April 27, he was taken to a newly constructed prison in Chenshi Town, Yongchuan District.
