Additional Persecution News from China – April 3, 2023 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 40 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] The Case Against Three Practitioners Transferred to the Intermediate Court

The case against three practitioners including Ms. Chen Xue, Ms. Huang Bixian, and Ms. Weng Meichai, was transferred to the Fuzhou City Intermediate Court by the Mawei District Court.

2. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Qingfang Sentenced to Four and a Half Years in Prison

Ms. Xu Qingfang was sentenced to four and a half years in prison by the Linghai Court. She was transferred to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on March 27, 2023.

3. [Shanghai] Ms. Yang Hui Tried in Court

Ms. Yang Hui from Shanghai City was tried in the Lanzhou City Railway Transportation Court on March 16, 2023.

4. [Wuji County, Hebei Province] The Case Against Mr. Li Ruichao Submitted to the Procuratorate

Mr. Li Ruichao was arrested on February 2, 2023, when he purchased a ticket. He was held for 30 days in the Gaocheng Detention Center. His case was submitted to the procuratorate at the end of his detention.

5. [Zhuolu County, Hebei Province] Additional Information about Three Practitioners

Ms. Tang Guifang, Ms. Chen Yulian, and Ms. Ma Yingmei, all in their 70s or 80s, were reported to police when they went to Jiepailiang Village, Dongxiaozhuang Town and talked to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of March 13, 2023. They were arrested and interrogated by officers from the Dongxiaozhuang Police Station. The police took their photos and searched their bodies. They grabbed the keys to their home from two elderly practitioners. The police then searched their homes and took away all their Falun Gong books and photos of Falun Gong’s founder. The practitioners’ bicycles were also confiscated.

6. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen and Ms. Wen Biqing Arrested

Two practitioners from Shunqing District, Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen, 85, and Ms. Wen Biqing, were arrested by officers from the Xicheng Police Station at 9 a.m. on March 14, 2023. Their homes were ransacked that afternoon. The police confiscated their Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and MP3 players from Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen’s home, and a media player from Ms. Wen Biqing’s home. The two practitioners were released that afternoon.

7. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lu Danjuan Arrested

Ms. Lu Danjuan from Jiedong District, over 70, was arrested by officers from the Chengxi Police Station in Quxi, Jiedong District ten days ago for distributing information about Falun Gong.

8. [Yingshan County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cai Zefang Detained

Ms. Cai Zefang from Yingshan County, 84, has been detained in the Nanchong City Detention Center since March 2023. Ms. Cai is currently on a hunger strike.

9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Lin Arrested

Four officers including the head of the Heping Street Police Station went to Lin’s home on March 4, 2023. As soon as they entered they handcuffed Lin’s daughter who is a non-practitioner. They ransacked the home. Lin and Lin’s daughter were taken to the police station for interrogation. Lin did not cooperate and was released later as well as the daughter. The daughter was frightened and was ill for more than a week afterward.

10. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Three Practitioners Face Trial

Three practitioners, Li Jing, Li Xianghong, and Zhang Tao, will be tried in the Qingdu District Court at 9 a.m. on April 4, 2023. The practitioners were arrested because they talked to people about Falun Gong in Qian County.

11. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zhang Lianqing from the Beilin District was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He is incarcerated in the Hulan Prison. Ms. Liu Guiying was sentenced to eighteen months in prison and was sent to the Harbin Women’s Prison. Mr. Zhang Fengming was sentenced to eighteen months in prison. He is detained in the Bei’an Prison. It is learned that five other practitioners were also sentenced. One of them surnamed Bai was sentenced to three years in prison.

12. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Hu Linghao Arrested and Detained

Hu Linghao was reported to the police by a coworker for distributing USB drives with Falun Gong information and was arrested in the workplace on the morning of September 28, 2021. The police ransacked Hu’s home and confiscated a computer, cell phone, and USB drives. Hu was detained for seven days in the Shawan Detention House in Panyu District. He was fired by the company.

13. [Faku County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Gong Huimin Arrested

Mr. Gong Huimin was arrested at home by officers from the Shiqiao Police Station on the afternoon of February 24, 2023. He was fined 1,000 yuan. He was taken to a detention house in Shenyang City and detained for 10 days. Mr. Gong returned home on March 9, 2023.

14. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] 14 Practitioners Harassed

It is learned that at least 14 practitioners were harassed by local police officers or community staff members in the Hantai District in late March 2023. They are Lai Suzhen, Li Xiuhua, Sang Xiuling, Bai Hanying, Zhao Wenling, Chen Baohan, Xin Mei, Jia Guiqin, Wang Xinlian, Luo Xinping, Wang Mengling, Liu Lianying, Wang Xiuzhen, and Wei Caixia. The practitioners received harassing calls, had their photos taken, or were summoned to the community offices or police stations.

15. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Mr. Yan Sanming Arrested

Mr. Yan Sanming was arrested when he talked to people about Falun Gong in Xundian Town, Anlu City on March 30, 2023.
