(Minghui.org) A Chinese national recently damaged Falun Gong practitioners’ poster boards at Seongsan Ilchulbong near Jeju Island, South Korea, on November 18, 2023. This is the seventh such incident within the past two months. The perpetrator, wearing glasses and a mask, was videotaped in the act of vandalism.
The South Korea Falun Dafa Association believes that these are not isolated incidents, but rather that they are instigated and directed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which is actively persecuting Falun Dafa in China. The Association has therefore requested the Prosecutor’s Office to take action against the perpetrator.
The Prosecutor accepted the request and has filed a lawsuit with the Jeju District Court calling for the suspect to pay a fine of 500,000 South Korean wons (about 385 USD).
The poster board damaged by the perpetrator exposed the CCP’s slanderous lies against Falun Dafa, such as the staged Self-Immolation Incident at Tiananmen Square, as well as the regime’s forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience, the largest number of which are Falun Dafa practitioners. The poster also highlighted the fact that the CCP doesn’t represent China.
The video and snapshots below show one of the offenders kicking and damaging the poster boards, then attempting to walk away after the incident.

Background
South Korea is a very popular tourist destination for Chinese nationals. They are often seen in Seoul, Incheon, Busan, Gangwon, Gyeongsang, and Jeju, in places such as airports, harbors, tourist sites, and shopping centers. Many Chinese also go to South Korea for school or work. There are so many Chinese nationals at South Korean airport that it almost feels like China.
Jeju Island is one of the most visited places in South Korea. Since 2008, the South Korean government has granted Chinese citizens entry without a visa, for stays of up to 36 hours. A travel ban was enforced during the pandemic, but the ban was lifted recently and the number of visitors from China has jumped to 38 times over last year.
In the past few decades, the CCP has launched various campaigns against targeted groups. Because the regime has been defaming Falun Dafa since 1999 throughout the state-run media in China, Dafa practitioners have set up booths in Jeju to tell the Chinese people what Falun Dafa is and how the CCP is persecuting innocent practitioners for their faith. Chinese tourists can pick up printed materials at these sites or they can talk directly with practitioners.
