Recent Harassment Cases in Hunan and Heilongjiang Provinces

(Minghui.org) Residents in Hengyang City, Hunan Province and Fuyuan City, Heilongjiang Province were harassed in recent months for practicing their faith, Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Harassment Cases in Hengyang City, Hunan Province

Between August and October 2023, officers of the Hengshan County Domestic Security Office harassed multiple Falun Gong practitioners through phone calls, including Ms. Wang Guihua, Ms. Xia Zhying, and Ms. Yuan Yulan. Hengshan County is under the jurisdiction of Hengyang City.

Director Zhao of the Hengshan County Education Bureau took four of his subordinates to Ms. Tu Qiuyun’s home on October 11, 2023 and ordered her to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply.

Li Pu of the Hengshan County Domestic Security Office harassed Ms. Tu again on October 23. Her family was forced to sign a renouncement statement on her behalf without her consent. Other practitioners who were also harassed around the same time included Ms. Wang Qiudong, Ms. Yang Xueyun and Ms. Tan Meiyun.

Four officials of the Shaquan Police Station and Baiyun Village committee showed up at Ms. Dai Maixiang’s home on October 24 and ordered her to sign a renouncement statement. She did not comply.

Harassment Cases in Fuyuan City, Heilongjiang Province

The Fuyuan City Domestic Security Office frequently harassed Mr. Shao Dianyin, Ms. Cao Chunyan, Ms. Wang Nange and Mr. Zhang Zhichen during the summer of 2023.

In October 2023, the Fuyuan City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, an extra-judiciary agency tasked with overseeing the persecution, instructed local police and village officials to take the practitioners’ photos or harass their families through phone calls.

Some officers told practitioners that they didn’t need to say anything or sign any statements. Instead, all the police needed was for the practitioners to agree to have their photos taken.

Some community officials attempted to get into the practitioners’ homes with the excuse of checking their heat supply. Others called the practitioners’ families and asked them to take the practitioners’ photos.

The harassed practitioners included Mr. Lu Xiugang, Mr. Tan Mingcheng, Ms. Hu Changying, Ms. Sun Yun’na, Ms. Zheng Yingchun, Ms. Zhang Guizhi, Ms. Zhang Weiqin, Mr. Ge Zhaoping’s family and Mr. Yu Lijun and his wife.
