(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Hongda Sentenced
Mr. Zhang Hongda from Yangmu Township was sentenced to 15 months in prison. He is incarcerated in Kangping Prison.
2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Chen Jie Detained
Chen Jie, gender unknown, who lives in Yanshou County, was arrested at home by Domestic Security Division officers on September 28, 2023. The officers searched the place, seized Chen’s Falun Gong books, printers, computers, and 100,000 yuan in cash. It was said that Chen is being held in the No. 2 Detention Center.
3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Judge Chen Xiaoguang Arrested
Chen Xiaoguang (gender unknown) is a judge at the Shenbei District Court. Chen was arrested at work on September 20, 2023 by Shenyang police.
4. [Beijing] Ms. Gao Weiping Detained
Ms. Gao Weiping was arrested at her father’s home in Shunyi District on September 14, 2023 by officers from the Renhe Police Station. She is being held in the Shunyi District Detention Center.
5. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zeng Jianjiang Released on Bail
Mr. Zeng Jianjiang handed a letter requesting his pension benefits to his manager. The letter had information about Falun Gong, and his manager gave the letter to police. Officers from the Domestic Security Division arrested him at his home on the morning of August 25, 2023. They returned to Mr. Zeng’s home at noon and ransacked the place. He was taken to the Jixi City Detention Center. The center did not admit him because he failed to pass the physical examination. He was released on bail.
6. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Tian Haitao Lost His Job, Home, and Pension
Mr. Tian Haitao, a resident of Fujin City, was arrested at work on July 22, 1999. Nearly 10,000 yuan of his personal property, including his computer, was confiscated. He was detained for more than ten days in the Jiamusi City Detention Center.
Mr. Tian was held in a forced labor camp in 2000 after he went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. After he was released, his work unit, the Agriculture Bank of China, Fujin Branch, fired him. He did not get his salary for 23 years.
Under the bank president’s instruction, his privately owned apartment in the bank residential building was sold in 2009. He was not notified and he became homeless.
He was eligible for retirement under the state policy on May 30, 2023, but the bank refuses to process his retirement case.
7. [Tianjin] Many Practitioners Arrested
About 18 practitioners who live in Shuangjie Town were arrested at around 7:00 a.m. on July 17, 2023 by local officers who were following orders given by the Beichen District Police Department.
The officers said that they arrested practitioners who were on a list of 30 people who had been monitored for several months. Pan Heng, who owns a barber shop, Zhao Jinshu, who lives in Beicang, and Ms. Wang have been detained. The rest were released that day. Their homes were ransacked. Two of them were fined and released on bail. Ms. Zhou was placed under house arrest. Several practitioners’ family members were arrested at the same time. The police questioned them and ordered them to identify photos of the practitioners. A family member recognized one officer who was frequently seen playing with a cell phone in front of their apartment building.
8. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Xiufen and Ms. Wang Rongxuan Detained
Ms. Zhao Xiufen and Ms. Wang Rongxuan, who live in Quyang County, were arrested at home and detained for ten days. They were released on September 29 and September 25, 2023 respectively.
9. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Zhengru Harassed
Ms. Yang Zhengru, 58, was incarcerated in the Deyang City Detention Center from October 22, 2022 to September 2023. She is followed whenever she leaves her home.
10. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Dai Xiuchun Fined and Subjected to Detention
Ms. Dai Xiuchun is a 74-year-old practitioner. At around 9:30 a.m. on August 31, 2023, four officers from the Xigong District Domestic Security Division went to her home and said that someone had reported her for distributing Falun Gong flyers. Without showing a search warrant, they searched her home, and seized her computer, printers, Falun Gong books, cell phones, 7,500 yuan in currency bills which had Falun Gong messages printed on them, and some supplies. She was fined 1,000 yuan and was also subjected to 15 days of administrative detention which was not executed because of her age.
11. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Lihong Arrested
Ms. Zhao Lihong, 63, who lives in the Yantai Development Zone, was arrested by Fulai Police Station officers on April 17, 2022 after someone reported her for talking to people about Falun Gong in Fulaishan Park. She was released on bail.
Her case was submitted to the Procuratorate on June 8, 2022, then to a court in August 2022.
The court clerk notified her on January 28, 2023 that her trial was scheduled for February 6. She fled home to escape the persecution. Police put her name on the CCP’s wanted list.
She was arrested by officers from the Taoyuan Border Defense Police Station at around 3:00 p.m. on September 19, 2023 when she was shopping in the Jiajiayue Supermarket in the Shidao Development Zone.
12. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Practitioners Arrested and Detained
The Fuyang City Political and Legal Affairs Committee ordered officers from police stations, community clerks, and others to harass and arrest practitioners in the days before October 1, 2023.
Ms. Jiang Guilan was arrested by officers from the Xiangyang Road Police Station on September 21, 2023. Mr. Shi Xiancheng and Ms. Chen were arrested by Xiangyang Road Police Station officers before October 1, 2023. They are being held in the Fuyang City Detention Center.
Ms. Li Zongxia and Ms. Li Sulan were arrested by officers from the Yingquan District Police Department and the Yingshang Road Police Station in late September 2023. The Yingquan District Procuratorate issued arrest warrants for them.
13. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ma Xiujuan Sentenced
Ms. Ma Xiujuan was sentenced to a year in prison. She is being held in the Xinzhou City Detention Center.
14. [Shizuishan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Mo Huiping Detained
Ms. Mo Huiping lives in Huinong District, Shizuishan City. She was arrested on September 13, 2023 by officers from the Mancheng Street Police Station in Jinfeng District, Yinchuan City. She was detained in the Jinchuan City Detention Center and released on September 29, 2023.
