(Minghui.org) Three Dalian City, Liaoning Province residents have been taken to prisons to serve time for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Ren Haifei, 47, was arrested on June 26, 2020, and sentenced to ten years by the Ganjingzi District Court. Mr. Xu Changlu, 70, was arrested on July 10, 2020, and sentenced to nine and a half years. Ms. Xu Qiang, 62, was arrested on July 11, 2020, and later sentenced to nine years and one month.

Ms. Xu was transferred to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on March 3, 2022. Mr. Ren and Mr. Xu were taken to the Liaonan New Admission Prison in late June 2022 and are scheduled to be transferred to another prison in Liaoning within one to three months.

Past Persecution of Mr. Ren

Mr. Ren took up Falun Gong in 1994. He was previously arrested in early April 2001 for making informational materials about Falun Gong and sentenced to seven and a half years by the Ganjingzi District Court. He held a hunger strike while being locked in solitary confinement. His health deteriorated quickly as a result of the torture.

After he was released in September 2008, he lived in displacement for a few years to hide from the police.

Following his latest arrest in June 2020, he experienced heart and kidney failure due to savage beating by the police.

Past Persecution of Mr. Xu

Mr. Xu was previously arrested on January 11, 2005. Over ten officers ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books, laptop, printer, TV, and many other personal items worth over 10,000 yuan in total. The 500 yuan cash he kept at home was also taken away. One officer even asked him, “Do you have any bank deposit notes?”

At Changhai County Detention Center, officer Xing Guangwei beat Mr. Xu with a rubber stick for over an hour. Others kicked him and slapped him in the face. After the beating, they stripped him and handcuffed and shackled him, before throwing him into the cell.

Officer Xing later dragged Mr. Xu by the handcuffs into his office. The cuffs cut into his flesh, leaving a scar still visible today. Xing slapped Mr. Xu in the face over ten times and caused his left eardrum to rupture. When Mr. Xu held a hunger strike to protest the torture, the officers force-fed him saline water. His esophagus was pierced by the feeding tube. When he struggled in pain, two agents from the 610 Office laughed at him.

Mr. Xu was later sentenced to four years by the Changhai County Court. The guards at Anshan Prison continued to beat him and shocked him with electric batons. His teeth were knocked out. His body weight dropped very quickly. When he tried to file a motion to reconsider his case, guard Tao Jun withheld his documents and said to him, “I’m the law.”

Mr. Xu’s wife, Ms. Guo Yuanfang, who also practiced Falun Gong, was dealt a blow with the persecution to the family. Her health deteriorated over the years and she passed away in May 2010.
