(Minghui.org) A 70-year-old woman recently finished serving a one-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline also known as Falun Dafa that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Huang Juxiu, of Yueyang City, Hunan Province, was arrested at home on March 16, 2020 by Liu Xuenong and Liu Xuequn of the Lou District Domestic Security Office. Her computer and Falun Gong books were confiscated. While interrogating her at the Lengshuipu Lockup, officer Liu Lijiang said they must find ways to send her to the Hunan Province Women’s Prison. Three days later, Ms. Huang was transferred to the Yueyang No. 2 Detention Center.

Officers Liu Xuequn and Yi Sansan took Ms. Huang to the Jinfengqiao Police Station on April 21 and then released her on bail. Her son was ordered to stay at home to monitor her.

Liu Xuequn and Yi broke into Ms. Huang’s home again at 6 a.m. on July 7 and took her to two different hospitals for physical examinations. Both hospitals found she had a heart condition, but the police still took her to the Lengshuipu Lockup and interrogated her. Having been starved since early morning and terrified by the police, Ms. Huang staggered and fell on the ground. Yet the police claimed she was faking it. At 1 a.m., she was taken back to the Yueyang No. 2 Detention Center and the guards accepted her despite her heart condition and high blood pressure.

Two prosecutors from the Pingjiang County Procuratorate came to the detention center to interview Ms. Huang two weeks later. She suffered a heart attack, collapsed on the ground, and lost consciousness. After she woke up ten minutes later, one prosecutor said she was scared by her condition.

After another two weeks, police officers Liu Xuequn and Yi Sansan took Ms. Huang to the Guangji Hospital, the designated police hospital. She was given injections for two days and then returned to the detention center. While in the hospital, she was held in the room specifically for the inmates and handcuffed to the bed. Only when she needed to use the restroom did the guard loosen the cuffs.

The Pingjiang County Court tried Ms. Huang at the detention center on September 10 and sentenced her to a one-year prison term. She asked the police who was witness Huang Ao on her verdict and why he didn’t appear in court to accept cross-examination. The police replied that he was a staff member of the residential committee and he saw a Falun Gong poster on the wall near their office. “How do you know it was me who put up the poster?” Ms. Huang asked the police. They didn’t answer.

Ms. Huang was taken to the Hunan Province Women’s Prison in October 2020. She was deprived of sleep, and forced to stand or sit on a small stool for long hours.

After Ms. Huang was released on May 31, 2021, the Yueyang City 610 Office and Political and Legal Affairs Committee, both assigned to oversee the persecution, ordered her son to take a leave of absence from work in order to monitor her at home.
