(Minghui.org) The now defunct Nanchang City Forced Labor Camp sat on Maiyuan Road in Xinjian District of Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. The labor camp set up a special team to persecute the local Falun Dafa practitioners in 2001, and it became a major location to incarcerate practitioners who refused to renounce their faith. In 2001 alone, dozens of practitioners were detained here.

Between 1999 and 2013, when the labor camp system was abolished in China, two death cases were confirmed as a result of torture at Nanchang City Forced Labor Camp. The torture means used on the practitioners included: prying the practitioners’ eyes open with sticks to prevent them from blinking and sleeping, force-feeding, beatings, handcuffing, brainwashing. The labor camp also persecuted practitioners by denying family visits and denying purchase of daily necessities.

Because of the strict information blockade, the persecution cases presented below are believed to be only the tip of the iceberg of the crimes committed at Nanchang City Forced Labor Camp.

Two Death Cases as a Result of Torture, Forced-feeding and Forced Drug Administration

Mr. Wang Xin, born on August 29, 1973, lived in Xihu District in Nanchang City. He went on a hunger strike in May 2001 after a guard beat him and confiscated the Falun Dafa books that he’d managed to bring into the labor camp.

Mr. Wang demanded that the guard be held accountable and his books returned. A couple of weeks later the guard instigated other detainees to force-feed him. They held him down and stepped on him while force-feeding him. A few days later he showed little sign of life and was rushed to a hospital. He died in the hospital on July 2, 2001 at the age of 28.

Mr. Zhu Shizhen, born in 1950, lived in Huangma Township, Nanchang County. The police from the Huangma Township Police Station arrested him twice, first in February 2001 and then in December 2003, and put him in the labor camp both times. Because he went on a hunger strike, the guards had the detainees in his cell monitor and torture him. Every evening they handcuffed him and did not allow him to leave the cell.

After he was released in March 2004, the police frequently monitored and harassed Mr. Zhu. The police arrested him five months later on September 23, 2004 and put him in the labor camp for a third time. The guards force-fed him after he went on a hunger strike. Three months later the labor camp sent him home in a car. In two days he became incoherent and delusional. He died on December 7, 2004. An insider from the labor camp said that a guard put unknown drugs in his food and injected him with an unknown liquid.

Other Cases of Torture

Ms. Ge Peiling, born in 1957, lived in the dormitory of Jiangxi Province Boiler Factory. The authorities put her in the labor camp twice after the persecution started. After suffering severe torture in 2001, she had hypertension and began to vomit and convulse.

The guards rushed Ms. Ge to a hospital, where she remained handcuffed and shackled despite being on the verge of death. When a doctor spoke up for her and wanted to know who would be responsible if she died, the guards threatened to arrest the doctor. Seeing her condition worsening, the guards left as they did not want to be held responsible. Her husband carried her home. The authorities continued to monitor and harass Ms. Ge at home.

Ms. Ge went to Beijing in 2004 to speak up for Falun Dafa, and the police arrested her again. At the Qingyunpu Police Department in Nanchang City, the police beat her viciously and injured her head. After the head injury, Ms. Ge became disoriented and could not take care of herself. She died in January 2005.

Ms. Ge Peiling

Mr. Zhao Jinfa, born in 1966, lived in Youkou Township, Nanchang County. The detainees in his cell beat him every night when he was in the labor camp in February 2001.

The authorities put Mr. Chen Xiangyang in the labor camp on February 9, 2001. On one occasion, the guards would not let him and his cellmates out of the cell to go to the bathroom because he refused to renounce his belief. The guards forced him to do labor intensive work, and instigated other detainees to beat him.

Ms. Shu Juan, born on November 2, 1949, retired from a switch factory. After the authorities incarcerated her in the labor camp in March 2002, she went on a hunger strike for eight days to protest the brainwashing. The guards tied her to a chair and force-fed her.

Ms. Shu Juan

Ms. Jin Xiulian used to work as an accountant in a shopping center. The police arrested her on January 23, 2001 when she gave out Falun Dafa fliers in Fengxin County. After seven days, officers from the Chaoyangzhou Police Station placed her in the Nanchang City Second Detention Center. Without any due process, the authorities sentenced Ms. Jin to a three-year term in the labor camp. Every day, she was forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Dafa.

Mr. Qu Jianhui, born in 1969, went to Beijing to speak up for Falun Dafa in September 1999. The police arrested him and gave him one year in the labor camp.

Mr. Qu went to Beijing again in December 2000. The police arrested and held him in the Nanchang City Detention Center for three months before giving him three years of forced labor. In the labor camp, the guards forced Mr. Qu to watch videos slandering Falun Dafa and do labor intensive work for over ten hours each day. They beat him if he did not finish his assigned work quota.

A female practitioner sang Falun Dafa songs at a gathering on March 8, 2001. A guard ordered other detainees to beat her with clothes hangers. A young graduate student who refused to renounce Falun Dafa was tortured in solitary confinement.
