Incapacitated Husband Continues to Seek Release of Wife Wrongly Imprisoned for Her Faith

(Minghui.org) An incapacitated man and father of two continues to call on the authorities to release his wife, who is serving a four-year prison term for her faith in Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Zhang Xiaona, 48, of Huludao City, Liaoning Province, was arrested on December 3, 2021, and sentenced to four years on May 30, 2022. Her imprisonment left her husband, Mr. Chen Jie, and their two children in dire straits.

In an accident at work in 2020, Mr. Chen was shocked by a power line, and the lower part of his left leg had to be amputated. He is not able to grip anything in his right hand. He later became blind. With the family already in serious debt due to his medical expenses, he is struggling to pay for his children’s tuition—one in college and the other in high school. Chinese students don’t have access to student loans.

With no other way to seek help, Mr. Chen filed complaints against the three key perpetrators responsible for Ms. Zhang’s arrest, indictment, and sentencing on September 4, 2022: Wang Baomin, the director of Suizhong County Domestic Security Office; Zhang Xiaojin, a prosecutor with the Lianshan District Procuratorate; and Zhang Liang, a Lianshan District Court judge.

After his case was reported by Minghui.org, some kind-hearted people donated 10,000 yuan to Mr. Chen and helped him mail the complaints against the three individuals to more than 50 higher-up government officials, including the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection; Zhang Guoqing, the Liaoning provincial Party secretary; He Zhiyong, mayor of Huludao City; Fan Xiaojie, director of Huludao Judicial Bureau; Ji Shengya, Huludao Political and Legal Affairs Committee secretary; Sun Ling, president of the Lianshan District Procuratorate; Yang Shuze, president of the Lianshan District Court; Xiang Jifei, mayor of Suizhong County; and Lin Hui, director of Suizhong County Police Department.

To prevent the post office from intercepting the letters, the helpers mailed out the letters on different dates and from different cities.

On October 17, someone who claimed to be from the discipline commission called Mr. Chen to confirm that his complaint against director Wang had been received and that they had instructed the local government to look into the complaint.

Two weeks later on November 3, eight village officials visited Mr. Chen and promised to release Ms. Zhang early so that she could take care of him. They gave him 2,000 yuan and two tons of coal and took photos of it. The officials also asked Mr. Chen who helped him file the complaints, and he said it was his neighbors.
