(Minghui.org) Jiazhou Prison in Sichuan Province was created by merging the former Wumaping Forced Labor Camp and Shawan Prison. The prison is notorious for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners incarcerated for upholding their faith.
The prison, located in Quanfu Town, Leshan City, has a sign “Chenma Group Co., Ltd” hanging outside the gate. Inside, the guards shock practitioners with electric batons, beat them, and restrict their meals to a few seconds. Practitioners are closely monitored and not allowed to speak with one another. The inmates are forced to work long hours to earn revenue for the prison. They are also given term reductions for actively participating in torturing Falun Gong practitioners.
Two Deaths As a Result of Torture
In December 2019, the instructor of No. 5 Division ordered six practitioners not to practice Falun Gong after their release and also to say that Falun Gong was a cult. On December 20, the instructor repeated his orders. When Mr. Luo Xuefang said he would continue to practice after his release and added that Falun Gong was not a cult, the instructor said that Mr. Luo had a bad attitude and made him stand facing the wall.
When Mr. Luo refused to comply, two inmates pushed him up against a wall and kicked his legs. When they released their grip, Mr. Luo turned around, so they kept shoving him against the wall. Even though his legs and knees were bruised, Mr. Luo refused to give in. He died in prison in early April 2020.
Mr. Sun Renzhi from Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, was taken to Jiazhou Prison on August 9, 2018, to serve a three-year term. Prison instructor Shao Lin and guard Liu tried to make him recite the prison rules several times, but he refused to do it. Shao took Mr. Sun to a place with no surveillance camera on September 5, 2018, and sprayed spicy water in Mr. Sun’s face. Shao said, “Wait to see how else I punish you.” Mr. Sun was emaciated and very weak when he was released from prison in 2020. He passed away on June 25, 2022.
Plight of Other Practitioners
Mr. Zheng Shiyi, 84, enjoyed good health after practicing Falun Gong. He was arrested and sentenced to 3.5 years for putting up a Falun Gong poster on a pole in 2015. After he was taken to Jiazhou Prison, he was forced to take high blood pressure medicine every day, even though he didn’t have the condition.
By the time he was released in 2018, he had memory loss and his mental abilities had been reduced to that of a toddler. His body leaned forward and he could not lift his head or straighten his back. He was unable to take care of himself.
Mr. Deng Weiyong and his wife Ms. Li Xiuying were arrested on May 5, 2018. Mr. Deng was sentenced to four years and Ms. Li to two and a half years on December 26, 2019. Mr. Deng often passed out when he was forced to stand in Jiazhou Prison. He collapsed on the morning of September 1, 2021, after being forced to stand still for hours. After a month in the hospital, he returned to the prison incontinent and mentally incoherent.
Mr. Wang Haiqian and Mr. Tang Zhikai from Dazhu County were admitted to Jiazhou Prison on August 5, 2021. Mr. Wang was abused in prison and developed symptoms of liver disease. He was taken to the prison hospital. The guards did not allow his family to visit him, using the pandemic as an excuse.
On June 17, 2019, the deputy prison chief organized a meeting to slander Falun Gong. The field was filled with banners containing messages that slandered Falun Gong. A dozen practitioners were beaten and had their meal times restricted to only a few seconds.
Torture re-enactment: Shocked with electric batons
Mr. Chen Zhi, one of the six practitioners ordered to smear Falun Gong, was locked in solitary confinement for refusing to give up his faith.
