(Minghui.org) Twelve Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing were arrested between July 19 and 21, 2020, which happened to be around the anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of their spiritual belief that began on July 20 twenty-one years ago. Most of the practitioners are currently detained at the Dongcheng District Detention Center.
Nine of the practitioners were arrested at their own homes on July 19, including Ms. Deng Jing, Ms. Zheng Yujie, Mr. Zhang Renfei, Ms. Li Jiaxuan, Ms. Zheng Yanmei, Ms. Meng Qingxia, Ms. Xu Na, Mr. Li Zongze and Mr. Li Lixin.
Another practitioner surnamed Lu was arrested and had her home ransacked on July 20.
Ms. Wang Yu and Ms. Wang Xiuzhen, 68, were arrested on July 21. Both practitioners’ homes were ransacked and their Falun Gong books, computers, printers, and IDs were confiscated.
Ms. Meng’s lawyer was scheduled to visit her at 1:30 p.m. on July 31. The detention center called him around 1 p.m. to cancel the meeting, with the excuse that Ms. Meng had a fever.
Ms. Xu and Ms. Wang’s families have also hired lawyers for them.
