(Minghui.org) A 69-year-old woman in Chongqing is facing indictment for submitting a complaint against Chongqing Women's Prison for torturing her while she was incarcerated there for refusing to renounce Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

After Ms. Tan Changrong finished serving her three-year prison term on February 26, 2018, she wrote a complaint using her real name detailing the torture that she had experienced while imprisoned. Authorities arrested her months later, and her case now rests with the local Procuratorate.

Latest Arrest

Ms. Tan submitted the complaint to the Chongqing Municipal Justice Department and the Prison Administration Department on September 2, 2018. A few days later on September 6, Li Xiaojuan, the chief of prison education and several officials from the Tongnan District Political and Legal Affairs Committee visited Ms. Tan's house in the name of conducting a welfare check.

During the visit, Li and another official from the prison threatened Ms. Tan after denying persecuting her in prison.

On October 15, Ms. Tan was arrested by police from Tai'an Police Station and Public Security Bureau and subsequently detained at Hechuan Detention Center. The arrest was approved on October 25.

Her family learned in November that her case had been submitted from the Tongnan District Procuratorate to Jiangbei District Procuratorate, which may soon file an indictment against her.

Tortured for Three Years

Ms. Tan was telling people about Falun Gong when she was arrested in March 2015. She was sent to the Chongqing Women's Prison for three years after being sentenced in September of that year.

Ms. Tan was beaten, cursed, and shocked with electric baton for a long time while in prison. The Minghui website had reported earlier how Ms. Tan was tortured by guard Tang Anzhi.

Ms. Tan recalled that Tang once shocked her with electric batons nonstop until she wrote a guarantee statement renouncing her faith. The torture resulted in severe wounds on her body.

Previous Arrests

Ms. Tan was sent to forced labor camp for one year in 2001. She was once again arrested in 2005 and sentenced to nine years of imprisonment at Chongqing Women's Prison, where she was forced to work for over ten hours without pay every day.
