The following is an account of several practitioners who went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for Falun Dafa. After their arrest and detention in Beijing, representatives from the Bureau of Public Security in Nangong, Hebei Province escorted the practitioners back to the Nangong Prison. The following cases of torture and abuse occurred there.
- After receiving a broken leg from beatings in a Beijing jail, practitioner Liu Wenli (Male) was transferred to the Nangong Prison. During interrogation in Nangong, he was brutally beaten and shocked with an electric baton time and time again. After the interrogation, the cruel policemen stripped off all his clothes and dragged him out onto the snowy ground, leaving him to freeze in the cold for over ten hours. He was then sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to Handan City. Officials from the village government in Liu's home of Minghua then started to harass Liu's wife and their ten-year-old son. The 8 Mu (a unit of area, 6 Mu = about an acre) of trees that Liu's family depended on to fuel their cooking fires was set aflame. The government paid a few local ruffians to harass Liu's wife, insulting her in an attempt to force her to divorce and remarry. They threatened Liu's wife, telling her "Your husband won't be back." Though she committed no crime, this poor farmer's wife endured disgusting abuse, another hapless victim of Jiang Zemin and his corrupt associates. The police extorted fines and searched her home many times. They told her that her husband had been sent to a forced labor camp in Handan City, but his family could not locate him there. His whereabouts remain uncertain.
- Practitioner Hu Xiaoming was hauled away from his home by the Nangong City police. He was brutally beaten and tortured with electric shocks. Scars and bruises from the beatings covered his body. Three days later, the police continued their ruthless treatment of Hu Xiaoming, forcing him into a notorious device of torture called the Tiger's Chair.
