The following is an account of several practitioners who went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for Falun Dafa. After their arrest and detention in Beijing, representatives from the Bureau of Public Security in Nangong, Hebei Province escorted the practitioners back to the Nangong Prison. The following cases of torture and abuse occurred there.
- After receiving a broken leg from beatings in a Beijing jail, practitioner Liu Wenli (Male) was transferred to the Nangong Prison. During interrogation in Nangong, he was brutally beaten and shocked with an electric baton time and time again. After the interrogation, the cruel policemen stripped off all his clothes and dragged him out onto the snowy ground, leaving him to freeze in the cold for over ten hours. He was then sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to Handan City.
Officials from the village government in Liu's home of Minghua then started to harass Liu's wife and their ten-year-old son. The 8 Mu (a unit of area, 6 Mu = about an acre) of trees that Liu's family depended on to fuel their cooking fires was set aflame. The government paid a few local ruffians to harass Liu's wife, insulting her in an attempt to force her to divorce and remarry. They threatened Liu's wife, telling her "Your husband won't be back." Though she committed no crime, this poor farmer's wife endured disgusting abuse, another hapless victim of Jiang Zemin and his corrupt associates. The police extorted fines and searched her home many times. They told her that her husband had been sent to a forced labor camp in Handan City, but his family could not locate him there. His whereabouts remain uncertain. - Practitioner Hu Xiaoming was hauled away from his home by the Nangong City police. He was brutally beaten and tortured with electric shocks. Scars and bruises from the beatings covered his body. Three days later, the police continued their ruthless treatment of Hu Xiaoming, forcing him into a notorious device of torture called the Tiger's Chair.
The Nangong Prison currently holds over fifty Falun Gong practitioners. These are kind and gentle people who make their living off the land, simple country folk who refuse to give up their beliefs. They face broken families and ruined lives from the brutal persecution by Jiang Zemin and his accomplices.
Requiring his minions to use force and high-pressure tactics, Jiang Zemin coerces practitioners to speak out to "expose and criticize" Falun Dafa. This is like being robbed and then forced to thank the thieves. It requires people to ignore their own consciences and declare that the brutal force that oppresses them is justified. Some practitioners, unable to endure continual torture, sign "letters of repentance" as the only way to stop the beatings. This action, instead of stopping the evil, simply allows it to proceed further. Obtained using the cruelest of coercive means, these letters of repentance are used by Jiang Zemin and his accomplices to mislead the public and justify continuing the persecution. Friends and relatives, please wake up! Good and bad deeds will be rewarded in kind. You should support the rights of your loved ones!
