Mr. Li Fu, a former government official in Zunhua City, Hebei Province, had his home raided for upholding his faith in Falun Gong. He went into hiding but was later arrested and given an unknown term of forced labor. While held at the Hehuakeng Labor Camp in Tangshan (the capital city of Hebei Province), he was abused to the point of becoming seriously ill. He was then released on parole.

Mr. Li’s employer suspended his pay after his arrest and refused to reinstate it despite his numerous requests. He struggled to make ends meet and was under tremendous mental stress. He died suddenly while out and about on May 19, 2008. He was 62.
