(Minghui.org) I was illegally arrested by the police in 2021, while distributing truth-clarification materials. During my time in the detention center, I met many people who had a predestined connection with Dafa.
Cell Head Is Kind to Practitioners
When I arrived at the detention center, the cell head asked me about my background, but I refused to answer. She said calmly, “Don’t be alarmed, I have no choice but to ask you these questions. In fact, I’m very kind to Falun Dafa practitioners and I’ve done my best to help them.” I put aside my negative thoughts and explained that I was not against her either.
She told me she had already quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations, and that her nanny helped her to do it. She said that when she returned home from running an errand she saw her nanny hurriedly hiding something. When she asked what it was, the nanny explained that it was Falun Dafa informational materials, and suggested that she read them.
After reading them, the cell head commented, “These materials are quite good. You don’t need to hide them anymore.” The nanny had then explained the importance of quitting the CCP and its youth organizations, and she agreed to quit.
During a cell meeting the cell head said, “Each of you is here because of a money problem, but Falun Dafa practitioners are here for no such reason.”
“It’s a Miracle!”
A young girl was detained for assault with a knife and had been placed in several different cells while she awaited trial. Willful and rebellious, many people disliked her. When she was moved to my cell, I noticed she was lonely, so I approached her and started a conversation.
She told me about some strange dreams she had and talked about the science fiction books she read online. She said she enjoyed gazing at the sky, observing the stars and the moon, and that she often had images in her mind.
I told her what Master said about the opportunities brought to the world by cosmic changes. I explained that some of the things she experienced were real, and that the people on Earth today are not ordinary—they came with a mission. I told her that especially people her age came to learn about Falun Dafa.
She was intrigued and believed what I said. She said she wanted to practice Falun Dafa. I taught her to recite “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” as well poems from Hong Yin. Her sincere belief in Master and Dafa brought her blessings and miracles.
At the pretrial hearing, the Public Prosecutor’s Office recommended a maximum sentence of two and a half years in prison. However, the court sentenced her to six years. She and her family found it unacceptable, and the inmates in her cell sympathized with her, although there was nothing we could do.
A few days later, she received a notice from the procuratorate stating that an appeal had been filed on her behalf with the intermediate court. While awaiting the intermediate court’s hearing, the plaintiff eventually withdrew the case after significant efforts were made to reach a settlement.
When the lawyer told her the news, the first person she shared it with was me. She said, “Auntie, it’s a miracle. It’s a miracle!”
I hugged her in excitement, and said, “Congratulations! I’m so happy for you.”
The intermediate court ultimately sentenced her to two and a half years of non-custodial sentence. After the verdict was issued, she was immediately released and returned home.
Buddhist Admires Falun Dafa
A devout Buddhist, Lin (alias) read Buddhist books every day and had some understanding of faith. However, she had no prior knowledge of Falun Dafa before she was incarcerated, but she had seen paper bills with messages about Falun Dafa printed on them. She liked the lotus designs on them, so she kept them.
When Lin first arrived at the detention center, she met Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li. She said Ms. Li was kind, always smiled, and endured bullying without complaint. Sometimes, she couldn’t bear it and stood up for Ms. Li.
When Lin heard Ms. Li reciting Master’s “Abiding in the Dao” from Hong Yin, she was deeply moved by the character of a cultivator that Master describes in the poem, and immediately memorized it. Ms. Li told her, “Cultivation is about cultivating oneself. One must look inward, especially when facing conflicts. I was persecuted because I did not cultivate diligently.”
From Ms. Li’s conduct, Lin developed a deep admiration for Dafa practitioners and wanted to learn more. Unfortunately, Ms. Li was soon moved to a prison.
Shortly after Ms. Li left, another practitioner, Ms. Sun, was placed in her cell. However, Lin didn’t have a chance to speak with Ms. Sun. The night before Ms. Sun was about to be sent to prison, Lin seized the opportunity and asked her, “What is the ultimate goal of practicing Falun Dafa?”
Ms. Sun replied, “To become a Buddha in this lifetime!”
Lin was deeply moved and realized how amazing Falun Dafa is—not only enabling a practitioner to achieve consummation, but accomplishing it in this lifetime. Ms. Sun also told her some of the amazing things she experienced, and said, “Another practitioner and I climbed over a very high wall so the authorities couldn’t catch us.”
After Ms. Sun left, she thought to herself, “I hope I can meet another Falun Dafa practitioner.” Then, she was transferred to this cell. When the cell head asked me why I was there, I replied, “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner.”
Lin immediately walked over to me, excitedly asking, “Are you really a Falun Dafa practitioner?” I confirmed that I was. She exclaimed, “That’s awesome!”
We became good friends. Whenever we had the chance, we exchanged understandings and I would tell her how Falun Dafa is practiced around the world. She soon memorized “On Dafa” and the poems from Hong Yin that I knew.
She said, “Dafa practitioners are truly cultivating. I want to practice Falun Dafa.” She stopped reading Buddhist books, and felt Master was watching over her.
I was held in the detention center for 22 months, and got along well with most of the people there. I never engaged in verbal disputes with anyone, and did my best to fulfill my responsibilities. I often helped those whose families were unable to deposit money in time by giving them food and supplies. In turn, I was cared for by those who sympathized with me.
Through our time together, many of these people changed their previous views of Falun Dafa, which had been shaped by the CCP’s lies and propaganda. They learned the truth about the persecution of Falun Dafa and began to sympathize with practitioners.
When I was sent to prison and had to part ways with the others, they sadly urged me to take good care of myself. Some of them even said they would stay in touch. Their acts of kindness will surely bring them a bright future and blessings.
