Ms. Li Ling was arrested on June 28, 2020, and brutally beaten for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. According to a witness, her face was deformed, some of her teeth had been knocked out, and her mouth was ruptured. She died of her injuries on July 13 and her family was forced to have her remains cremated that same day.
Falun Gong practitioners held rallies over several days in September to appeal to members of Parliament to support a joint statement from the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China to end the 21-year-long persecution of Falun Gong. Many passersby also signed a petition to help end the persecution.
On September 1, the head of the German Falun Dafa Association handed 35,000 signatures to the Foreign Ministry in Berlin. The signatures, collected from all over Germany, demanded that the German government help stop the Chinese communist regime from persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners.
Ms. Bai Yaqing was tied to a bed in a spread-eagle position for ten days while held at a labor camp between 2006 and 2007 for practicing Falun Gong. The torture caused long-lasting damage to her health, which kept worsening in the years that followed. She died in July 2020, about one week after the police attempted to detain her for her faith again.
A car parade in Ottawa on August 30, organized by the Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party, called for people to abandon the CCP.
