Additional Persecution News from China – September 9, 2018 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 15 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 9 were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Liu Fendi and Ms. Hua Liping Detained

Ms. Hua Liping, 60, Ms. Liu Fendi, 70, and Ms. Gong Yumei were arrested on April 24, 2018, for talking to people about Falun Gong.

Ms. Hua and Ms. Liu were officially arrested on May 30, 2018. Both women were held in the Pudong New Area Detention Center. Their cases have been turned over to the Pudong Procuratorate.

Back in 2004, Ms. Hua was illegally sentenced to three years in prison.

Ms. Liu had been sentenced to prison twice: three years in prison with three years of probation in 2002, and five years in 2004. Ms. Liu's husband became too distressed and suffered from a stroke. He became paralyzed and had to live in a senior nursing home when she was detained.

2. [Shanghai] Mr. Tang Weimin Detained for Over a Month

Mr. Tang Weimin was arrested at home by six plainclothes officers on August 7, 2018. His home was ransacked and his personal items including a computer and Falun Gong books were confiscated. He has been held in the Xuhui District Detention Center for over a month.

3. [Beijing] Ms. Liu Shengping Detained

Ms. Liu Shengping from Xicheng District was arrested on September 6, 2018. The police went to her home and ransacked it in the afternoon. They told family members that she was arrested on her way to a gathering on Tiyuguan Road in Dongcheng District. Ms. Liu is being held in the Changping Detention Center.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yan Yaqin Detained Over Five Months

Ms. Yan Yaqin, in her 60s, from Shuangyang District, was arrested at home by officers from the Shaoguo Police Station in April 2018. She has been held in the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Mu Junkui and Ms. Zhang Yumei Arrested

Mr. Mu Junkui, Ms. Zhang Yumei and other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Kuancheng District Police Department on the afternoon of September 7, 2018.

6. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhu Hengde Faces Trial

Mr. Zhu Hengde was arrested on October 7, 2017. He has been held for almost a year and his health is deteriorating. He will be tried at the Niuzhuang Detention Center.

7. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Guo and Mr. Xu Fanxin Arrested

Huafeng Town residents Mr. Li Guo and Mr. Xu Fanxin were arrested by officers from the Ningyang County Police Department on May 27, 2018, and taken to the county detention center. Mr. Xu was later released on bail for health reasons.

The Ningyang County Procuratorate issued a notification to Mr. Li and Mr. Xu on September 4, 2018, that their case would be reviewed and prosecuted.

8. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Ms. Miao Xianmin and Ms. Li Guiyun Arrested

Ms. Miao Xianmin, 77, and Ms. Li Guiyun, 68, were arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong in Beisu Town in Zoucheng County on September 6, 2018. They were taken to the Beisu Town Police Station, where the police forcibly took their photos and blood samples. Ms. Miao was released, while Ms. Li was detained for 10 days. The police also ransacked Ms. Miao's daughter's home.

9. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Qingzhi Arrested

Ms. Jiang Qingzhi was arrested on the afternoon of September 8, 2018, by officers from the Biguo Town Police Station under the directives of the Zhaoyuan City Domestic Security Division. Her home was ransacked. Her whereabouts are unknown.

10. [Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region] Ms. Xiao Yan Faces Trail

Ms. Xiao Yan was arrested by officers from the Saybag District Police Department for talking to a taxi driver about Falun Gong in April 2018. Her home was ransacked. It was reported that she will be tried at the Tianshan District Court on the morning of September 10, 2018.

11. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Miao Ping Detained

Ms. Miao Ping from Funing County was arrested in August 2018 for distributing Falun Gong materials in Binghai County. She is being held in the Yancheng Detention Center.

12. [Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Jia Shufen Arrested

Ms. Jia Shufen was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in Matou Town on September 4, 2018. She was arrested and taken to the Zhuozhou City Police Department by officers from the Zhuozhou City Domestic Security Division. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books. She was released after the police extorted 10,000 yuan from her family.

13. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Cao Lianying Detained

Ms. Zhou Baozhu, Ms. Cao Lianying and Ms. Li Xiuchu from Guankou Town in Xishui County were arrested by officers from the Guankou Town Police Station on September 3, 2018, for talking to people about the practice. Ms. Zhou and Ms. Li were released that evening, while Ms. Cao was detained for 10 days.

Mr. Liang Zhihong was taken to the New Inmates Ward of Shenyang Prison.

Ms. Zhao Yuqin was arrested by officers from the Railway Police Station when she was talking to people about Falun Gong near the Jinzhou Train Station on September 1, 2018. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Hao Xianling from the Lusejiayuan Residential Community and Ms. Dong Lijun from the Dongchengmingzhu Residential Community were arrested on September 7, 2018 for distributing Falun Gong materials.
