(Minghui.org) A 64-year-old man in Jiaoling County, Guangdong Province was sentenced to 4 years in prison on April 19, 2018 by Huichang County Court in Jiangxi Province. To date, his family hasn't been informed of which prison he is being held in.
Mr. Zhang Jinhuai, a retired postal worker, was seized at home on April 23, 2017 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Police from Huichang County and Jiaoling County, as well as agents from Jiaoling 610 Office, an extra-legal agency tasked with eradicating Falun Gong, were responsible for Mr. Zhang's arrest.
They ransacked Mr. Zhang's home and confiscated all of his Falun Gong books and informational materials.
It remains to be investigated why the police from Huichang, Jiangxi Province got involved in the case when Mr. Zhang was not a resident in their jurisdiction.
Mr. Zhang was taken to Jiangxi to be held at Huichang County Detention Center before his trial on January 18, 2018. His current whereabouts remain unknown after his conviction on April 19.
This is not the first time that Mr. Zhang has been targeted for his faith. He was detained for a total of around 100 days in 2001 and three months in 2005.
