(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Zangzu remains detained following his arrest on June 29, 2017 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

The Xinji City resident is not the only person in his family that has been targeted for practicing Falun Gong. His older brother, Mr. Liu Zangchong, was possibly arrested and remains missing since he went to Beijing in February 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong. Their mother died in 2006 without seeing her older son one last time.

The younger Mr. Liu had been arrested multiple times prior to his latest arrest. He was once cuffed to a tree during the day and held in a garage at night. His family was forced to pay 1,000 yuan before he was released. The local police kept close tabs on him afterwards.

It was learned that Mr. Liu’s latest arrest happened after police found him talking to people about Falun Gong in online forums. He remains at Xinji Detention Center.
