(Minghui.org) We are surrounded by a colorful world the moment we are born. We then learn to protect ourselves as we grow up. We become sophisticated, impure, and even cunning as we are corrupted by society. So-called experiences guard us and we no longer treat people with sincerity.
I used to follow this trend before I practiced Falun Dafa, a cultivation way that compels a person to maintain high moral standards.
I then began to follow the Falun Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. My heart was no longer moved when it came to gain and loss or other personal interests. I was not easily lost in personal sentimentality.
I Will Not Accept What Is Not Meant to Be Mine
I am a shop assistant in a store that sells jade. It is a very profitable industry. As such, if a particular client is ignorant of the value of jade, a shop assistant may sell a piece for a very high price. Some shop assistants try their best to squeeze as much money as possible out of their clients.
I was not used to this kind of selling and did not know how to handle the issue, because the shop assistants shared the bonuses according to sales turnover. In other words, if I did not sell the jade for a high price, my colleagues would get less of a bonus. I worried about how they would think of me.
Given my solid Fa study, however, I understood that as long as I tried my best to do my job well, I would get what I deserved. I should not be attached to how much I could sell. Instead of thinking of how much I could get out of the customer, I served every client honestly. I introduced our products to the clients, did not force them to buy anything, and let them choose at ease what they wanted.
Passing Tests
Gradually I established my own clientele. And my sales turnover was not less than my colleagues, which gave me greater confidence. I did not let greed creep into my heart, but still there were a lot of tests ahead of me.
The shop assistants would normally make jade necklaces, bracelets, pendants, or ornamental ropes when they had extra time on their hands. The prices ranged from 10 to 100 yuan. When some of the sales were not recorded in the books, my colleagues pocketed the money.
I hesitated and then decided to follow the principles of Falun Dafa. I recorded every sales transaction of mine on the books, regardless of what other shop assistants did.
My boss was a civil servant and had other businesses to look after, so she seldom came to our shop and never managed our accounts. She only set a primary price for every product. The shop assistants decided on the selling prices and recorded the accounts themselves.
The shop assistants pocketed a certain amount of the sales. If I did not put the money into my pocket, my colleagues would worry that I would tell the boss. It was also a big test for me to see other shop assistants earn thousands more each month.
“I will not keep a portion of the receipts,” I said to my co-workers. “I live by my principles to do things. I will not tell the boss what you are doing, because the boss has not asked me to monitor you. I will accept only what I should get. What you are doing has nothing to do with me.”
They were relieved. They also knew that I practiced Falun Dafa, as I had told them the facts about Dafa and the persecution.
Only Person Not Fired
When I saw my boss, I felt ill at ease. She was very easygoing and nice to us. Yet my co-workers took advantage of her trust.
One day she found out what her employees had been doing. One client came to the shop to return the goods. Our boss happened to be in the shop at that time. The selling price and the price recorded in the books were different. She did not say anything and life went on. But none of us knew what would happen.
I previously told her that Falun Dafa is a cultivation way of the Buddha school, that practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to become better people. I also helped her withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations. I told her my thoughts regarding cultivation, the principle of no loss no gain, and other stories. We had a good chat. She did not ask me anything about work.
However, in time, the other shop assistants were replaced. I was not fired, because my boss realized that I truly lived by Dafa’s principles.
Practitioners Shine Like Gold
Every Falun Dafa practitioner shines like gold. They are like a clean stream in this muddy world. Through their actions, practitioners show to everyone the greatness of Falun Dafa.
