(Minghui.org) Ms. Cheng Shuxiang, 54, a resident of Jinan City, Shandong Province, was arrested on September 26, 2017, while visiting her son in prison.
Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Ms. Cheng has been arrested more than 10 times and sent to brainwashing centers several times. She was given two years of forced labor after her arrest in December 2001 and tortured in the Jiangshuiquan Women's Forced Labor Camp, including being deprived of sleep for 38 days.
She was sentenced to four years in prison following her arrest in April 2007. Three years after her release, Ms. Cheng and her son, who also practices Falun Gong, were arrested at home on July 2, 2014. She was sentenced to a year in prison in January, 2015.
The local procuratorate had rejected her son Zhao Chenyao's case twice due to insufficient evidence, but the police fabricated evidence and pushed it through. Mr. Zhao was later sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He is still being held in Shandong Province Prison.
After Ms. Cheng was released in August 2015, she filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin with the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate for her illegal imprisonment.
It is unclear whether Ms. Cheng’s latest arrest was prompted by her lawsuit against Jiang.
