(Minghui.org) Mr. Hu Jinyan, 63, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changle County, Weifang, Shandong Province, used to work at Changle Alcohol Factory. He was arrested on January 15, 2017, for talking about Falun Gong to people in the local market.
His arrest was approved, and the Changle Procuratorate sent his case to Changle Court, which tried him secretly on June 15, 2017. The judge was Wu Xueyuan.
Mr. Hu was sentenced to one and a half years in prison on June 26. The Procuratorate protested and demanded that he be sentenced to three years. The case was then submitted to Weifang Intermediate Court.
When Mr. Hu entered Weifang Intermediate Court at 2:30 p.m. on September 26, 2017, in handcuffs and shackles, he shouted, “Falun Dafa is good!”
Mr. Hu argued that it was legal to distribute Falun Gong information and that Falun Gong teaches people to be good. He demanded to be released immediately.
The lawyer who defended Mr. Hu pointed out that Falun Gong does not harm anybody, that those who practice it do so to be healthy and to become better people, and that it is legal for practitioners to have books and materials about it at home.
The judge adjourned the proceedings and announced that the trial would be continued on another day. They told the family wait for notification.
